Patrick frowned. Earth had really done a number on her. Patrick listened as she explained what happened when the lights turned on. He had to admit, much to his chagrin, that Earth had been very good at what he had done here. Patrick hated it, but that was the fact. Although what she described was not what Patrick saw at all. And although he had said it before, the irishman saw the importance of saying it again, constantly reminding her what he saw, "Every time I see ye with the lights turned on, I get to see how beautiful ye are. How perfect ye are. Earth could never change that."
The thought crossed his mind that he should have tortured Earth before killing him, but that was only a passing thought. Patrick knew the truth, he had barely killed the man and escaped with his life. There would have been no way for him to take the man alive, nor did he had whatever ability or technology to bring the man back after he killed him. All he could do now was try and help Kazumi pick up the pieces, and perhaps that was for the best. There were no distractions, at least as far as Earth was concerned.
She explained what the man had done to her, drawing a frown from him as Patrick stroked her hair, pulling it behind her ear as he did and out of her face. As she poke Patrick didn't shift in discomfort, hesitation or revulsion. He wanted her to know that his opinion of her hadn't changed at all.
"I'm sorry" Patrick said quietly, "I'm sorry ye had to go through that, but he was a liar. Ye didn't and don't deserve any of that. He couldn't and didn't diminish yer value to me. How much I care about ye."
His hand continued to stroke her hair as she went back to the room, trying to comfort her in anyway he could. Patrick just wanted to help her through this, then they could figure out a way to deal with Feht. As he sat there he felt the gun pressing into his back, it wasn't comfortable, but he would deal for now. He would deal with it as long as he had to. Noting that she said master, Patrick opted not to comment. It was just a memory, not her actual belief.
When she told him that she tried to eat yesterday Patrick frowned, frown curling more so as she explained that she had gotten sick. Something to do with seeing pictures, no doubt from her torture. Some sort of psychological thing. But he remembered that she had had a voracious appetite. Not having eaten couldn't help her in her fight against Feht, which Patrick was still apprehensive about revealing to her just yet.
"I think ye should try and eat again," Patrick suggested softly, "I'll be here, and I can try and keep ye from getting sick."
However, maybe tell her a story, he didn't know. Anything really. But that thought was shifted when she asked him what was happening to her. There was so much fear and confusion in her voice. He would do the only thing he could think of, letting the hand that has been stroking her hair slide under her head, holding her cheek in his hand.
"I don't know," Patrick said, honestly. Sure he knew about Feht but he didn't know anything about how it was happening. But resolutely Patrick would continue, "But we'll figure it out."

She had to admit that the feel of his fingers stroking her hair was comforting, enough so that she was actually able to relax, if only just a bit. The trembling continued, but for the most part, it had died down from how severe it had been earlier. Eyes still brimmed with tears, but they fell less and less often. No, if anything, she just looked tired. Extremely tired. But then, she was kind of used to looking and feeling this way....the blackouts caused this....and though she didn't really understand why they caused it...she just knew that they did and that the more often she blacked out, or the longer she did so...the worse this feeling became. "I...I am glad...th..that you think I am b...beautiful still...." Her words weak and fading in and out, but genuine just the same as a tiny hint of a smile tried to curl upon her lips.
It did make her happy that he thought that about her. That, that was what he saw when he looked at her. Sure, when they had been together last, the lights had been off, but she knew he was not blind, he had either seen or felt most of her scars, and what few he might have missed....well she doubted they would change how he saw her. She could hear in his voice how much those things did not bother him, and that made her happy. To know that Earth had not completely ruined her, that he could not ever ruin the way that Patrick saw her. "He wo...wouldn't ever...let me have n..normal food...." A clear, violent shudder running through her body, lower lip bitten to hold back a small groan of disgust at the thought. "He...He knew about...m..my mom...He knew ab..about our condition....b..but he wouldn't ..." Her words trailed off as her head dropped to one side slowly, breathing growing a bit lighter now as she seemed to doze off, if just for a moment.
She had been trying to explain why she had such trouble eating now. Trying to explain how Earth had kept her so very weak to the point that she had no choice but to eat the food he gave her.....but it seemed like that moment was when the images chose to stop, and her exhausted mind chose to give out....
Though after a few minutes, the images once more started, jolting her awake..not allowing her to have sleep like she needed or wanted. A little whimper escaping her, not wanting to wake up, not wanting to look at the things in her head anymore. Her mind reaching for the last thing she remembered...him telling her that she needed to eat again....telling her that they would figure this out...whatever this was......So that was what she tried to focus on. "I..I can tr..try to eat if you wa..want...It just keeps...getting harder....a..and harder to do so....the m..more often I blackout..."
When she had first gotten home, she had eaten quite a bit...Never able to get full it seemed....And it had felt great, to have energy, to have actual food. But then the blackouts started, and the worse they got, the longer they lasted...the less and less she was able to eat due to the pictures and memories in her head, due to the exhaustion she felt. "L..Last thing I...remember was...i..it was Saturday....and...I was..t..taking a shower..." She supposed that might help.....right? It would give them an idea on how long these blackouts were lasting....or so she hoped. Though it then occurred to her that she had no idea what today was...."Wait....w..what day is it today?" Absolutely no clue it was Tuesday and she had missed out on a solid two entire days.....

Patrick smiled in the way she attempted to, looking down at her. He felt her shaking less now, a win which Patrick would gladly take at the moment. Having spoken what he meant her scars were meaningless to him, in that they didn't detract from her beauty, or his view of her. Hell, even if they did do that, who was he to judge? He had just as many, if not more. Sure there was more then likely a scar or two that he had not seen, but it wasn't like at some magical number he would stop valuing her. Stop caring for her. That was ridiculous.
When she spoke about food that she was forced to eat Patrick wondered what it was. It wasn't normal? What was that supposed to mean? It was garbage? Rotting food? Insects? Then again it had been earth so Patrick had a few more guesses that seemed less then normal, none of them good. Patrick knew it had to be bad to get Kazumi to shudder like she did but still. That next thing she said however, that made Patrick's ears perk up, especially. It sounded important. Some sort of family condition that was not allowed to be indulged? Normally Patrick would have let that be but Kazumi was dying, so the rules changed as curiosity bid Patrick to ask in a serious manner, "Condition?"
Patrick wasn't sure if his question had gotten through as she seemed to disappear to the other world again. This could be problematic. Patrick wasn't sure if these strolls down memory lane were a normal occurrence after black outs, or altogether in their entirety. Patrick would assume the former but then that led to the question that she would seem to answer. Things were getting harder for her. More difficult. Was that what Feht had mentioned? About her getting stronger? That question got brushed aside again as she spoke, agreeing to try and eat a little. He would ask, "Is there anything in the fridge?"
His preference for her being something quick and easy to prepare, something she could eat sooner rather then later as it seemed important to get something in her. Patrick wouldn't realize how right he was until she mentioned that the last thing she remembered doing was on Saturday night, two days ago. It now being tuesday and her not eating since the day before, according to her, that meant she hadn't eaten or got much to any rest in the past three days. Sure you could live awhile without either, but with some thing else trying to take over? That had to compound it entirely.
"It's tuesday Kazumi," Patrick answered her quietly, urgency of trying to get her to eat rising in his mind. Because while he had gone days without food before he had never done so without sleep, or something trying to take over him. Continuing after a brief pause he would say, "I'm going to get ye something to eat."
And if there wasn't any complaints, he would move to do that, gently laying her on the couch...

She gave a little nod to his question about her condition though she wasn't really able to answer him before her eyes again felt heavy and she started to drift off. In fact, it wasn't until he mentioned what day it was that her eyes would again flutter open, a look of pure confusion and a bit of utter shock given. Tuesday...but that meant she had been out for days....Softly she would draw in a sharp breath, tears once again spilling from the corner of her eyes and down the sides of her face. "I...I don't re..remember anything from...the...the past few days.." She spoke in a trembling, fearful tone. Her little fingers curling to grip her own shirt over her stomach, though it was a weak grip, if that.
"It...It is getting worse..." She had never been blacked out that long, and though it didn't make sense to her as to why it would be getting worse, she also didn't have the mental strength right now to question it. No, she was far too tired and weak, not to mention the fact that the images in her head would not allow for her to think too hard and long on one specific topic.
When he mentioned food, she nodded. There was food in the kitchen, one of the things Kevala was rather good at being to think of everything in situations like this. Sure, Kaz didn't know what kind of food there was, but knowing Kev it was likely stuff that was good for her, or stuff that she could make fairly quickly. Sure, Kaz was a good cook, amazing really...but in the types of situations that would lead her to coming here....she doubted that there was time for doing such.
"Alright baby...I..I am just...going to...to take a nap til i..it is ready." Barely able to hold her eyes open any more at this point, having used up with little strength she had in order to stay awake this long and talk to him. Usually she tried to stay awake if for no other reason than fear she would black out again...but right now, with him there, she felt that it was okay to try and at least catch some sleep. Assuming of course that her mind would allow for such.
As he moved to get up, laying her head down upon the couch, she would muster up whatever strength she had left to roll onto her side, her back pressing into the back of the couch, a little yawn barely making it past her lips before her arm would fall limply over the edge of the couch and her eyes would close, taking absolutely no time at all to pass out....though even as she tried to sleep, soft little whimpers would escape here and there as she found herself once more back in that room, which was where she would stay until she was woken up...far too exhausted, mentally, to pull herself out of that room now....Hence why she didn't sleep hardly anymore....everytime she did, she was right back at Earth's mercy.

The black SUV pulled into the driveway of the house and the drivers door would be thrown open along with the passenger side as well. From the drivers seat came a large man, dressed in a black suit, tie securely fastened about his neck, and a sidearm showing clearly from beneath the ends of his jacket. "Do you wish for me to go in first?" His hand moving to rest upon the gun at his hip as his other hand would push the door closed.
"No, I will go first. If she is in a bad state right now I don't want you to scare her more than she already is." Kevala, having stepped out of the passenger side, dressed in a pair of jeans and a black tank top, had her hair pulled back and a handgun shoved into the back waistline of her jeans. Of course, strapped to each thigh was a set of knives. When Edward had called her to tell her that the alarm system on the house had been activated, Kevala had gotten dressed, fully prepared to kill anyone who was threatening her daughter.
Yet, from the looks of it, there did not seem to be any immediate threats. However, there was something that seemed a bit out of the ordinary....a truck. Yes, she knew that truck...it had been parked in front of her house one day, when that boy Patrick had come asking questions about Earth and what not. He was the one who had gone on some sort of mission to try and bring the man down, and from what Kevala had been able to gather, it had been because of his feelings for Kazumi.
She also knew, though she didn't yet have any solid proof, that the two had recently run into one another again. It was not hard to guess that something was going on there, she just didn't know exactly what. Either way, she would turn to move toward the house, pulling out a small device from her pocket and punching in a code to deactivate the motion sensors in the yard, because yeah....that would have been a nasty little welcoming had she tripped those.
Moving to the door, she would push aside the plague and then press her hand to the control panel, allowing it to scan her print before she would enter her own access code. "Kevala, I really wish that you would allow me to enter first." Carmine's concern echoing from behind her as she heard the door starting to unlock.
"Worse case scenario is the boy shoots me. He strikes me as the kind to be a bit overprotective...." A little wave of her hand as she reached back, placing her fingers upon the handle of her gun and then nudging the door open with her foot. "Look...its me...Kazumi's mother. I got a call that the alarm system had been activated and I have come to make sure she is alright. So I would appreciate it if you did not shoot me." Calling out, of course, from the doorway.
She was not stupid. If she just bolted in there, without explaining herself, she was likely to get shot before questions could be asked. "Carmine, stay here and watch the door. I don't know what is going on, but I don't want to take any chances." She would then turn and head inside, closing the door behind her and punching in the code to lock it back into place.
Assuming that Patrick hadn't gotten too trigger happy on her ass, she made her way into the living room, those eyes falling upon her daughter as she laid there on the couch. A sense of worry washing over her as she removed her hand from the gun at her back and moved to kneel down beside her. One hand reaching out to check the girl's pulse and feeling it beating slow but strong.
She looked horrible, even in the darkness, Kevala could see that much. Her hand moving to softly brush Kazumi's hair back from her face as a wave of anger began to wash over her. She needed to know what happened, and she needed to know now. "What is going on here?" Assuming of course that Patrick had managed to end up in the same room as her and her daughter....Those icy hues scanning through the darkened room for him before she would push herself to stand, silently making her way into the dining room off to the side of the kitchen and turning on the lights there. She didn't want to disturb Kazumi, but she still wanted to be able to see who she was talking to and who was talking to her.

Patrick frowned as she said she didn't remember anything. That seemed to indicate that the amount of time Feht had was far more the Patrick would have anticipated. That was less then ideal. That being said when she mentioned that the blackouts were getting worse if it was even possible Patrick's frown deepened. Time was short, and only getting shorter. How much time was left? That much remained to be seen but Feht's words echoed in Patrick's head concerning him greatly.
Patrick gave a little sigh when she agreed. He was glad. She had to be starving, and she had looked absolutely exhausted. Killing two birds with one stone might help slow things down a bit. As Patrick got up he noticed her strain to roll over, though he couldn't help but smile a bit as he noticed her passing out. He doubted she'd be sleeping for long, with her nightmares and all but the more she could get the better. Knowing that she hadn't been sleeping much it would do her good.
After a moment had passed Patrick turned to make his way into the kitchen, opening the door to the fridge. While it was more full then he would have expected Patrick really didn't get the time to check out the foods, hearing something at the door. The great thing about the small house being that it was hard to miss much of anything. Instantly Patrick closed the door, his right hand reaching back and pulling out his Glock as he took a few steps the a doorframe looking to the main entrance, making sure that his position was on the side opposite of the main door's handle. Optimizing his cover, and lengthening the time it would take for anyone at the door to get into a good angle on his position. As he heard the lock opening his them brushed the safety to the off position.
Fully ready to blow away anyone who walked through the door, Patrick knew that there were likely few people able to unlock that door. While it was unlikely that some one would not only be able to break in, but choose now to do so, Patrick was taking no risks. Nothing would threaten Kazumi, and he wouldn't just let anyone walk through that door unannounced.
But to his surprise, or perhaps intrigue, it was a familiar voice he heard at the door. The door not being quite opened, only enough to let the woman speak Patrick paused for a moment, never lowering his gun but confirming in his memory that it was in fact Kevala Badoer. A moment would pass before he spoke in a clear voice, "Enter."
Confident that it wasn't an enemy Patrick would allow Kevala to enter, not lowering his gun though. He didn't exactly trust the woman, however in this circumstance he trusted that she was in fact a mother. An odd one but he trusted that she didn't want to hurt her daughter. Patrick would only lower the gun when he noticed that she wasn't holding a weapon of her own, and after she had locked the door, though he wasn't quite moving to put his gun back or put it on safe either.
As Kevala made her way to the living room Patrick would say nothing, only following her and noting that she was indeed armed to the teeth. Patrick watched quietly from near the way to the kitchen as anger washed over Kevala. She asked her question but Patrick would wait to answer. Wait until she had made her way into the dining room, following her. Which was opportune because it gave patrick a chance to think. No, he was not going to hide anything from the woman, rather he didn't want to say anything she already knew, which he assumed was a fair amount.
"Ye know phee?" Patrick asked as a baseline, pretty much assuming she did, "Well Phee's calling herself Feht now. And Feht's the reason for Kazumi's "black outs"."
Patrick sighed, pausing for a moment, "Kazumi's dying and she doesn't even know it, but it's Feht's doing. Feht's trying to take control."
That wasn't everything, that much was obvious, but it was clear that Patrick had no intention of hiding anything. If Kevala asked Patrick would answer. There was no reason not too, it would only hurt Kazumi to hide anything. He just wanted to give Kevala the skinny first...

She stood there at the dining room table, not moving and even holding her breath for a moment as he gave her the basics of the situation. Which was good. Kevala was not in the mood to listen to long drawn out details of things that didn't need to be spoken right now. She was a down to the point type woman, if he had not already figured that out.
"So that is what its calling itself." She sighed, moving finally to pull out one of the chairs at the table and take a seat, the gun pulled from behind her and laid out on the table, mostly so she could lean back without it stabbing her in the lower back or anything. "I caught a glimpse of it the other day, but thats the first time. I have had my suspicions but, it tends to hide from me." She wasn't going to address it as a person, even if it was her daughter, that part of her, well that was something else entirely.
When he spoke about Kazumi dying, as much as it angered her, it did not surprise her. The crimson lines starting to slowly weave their way into her icy blue gaze as she folded her hands together upon the table. "That is the thing about split personalities, they tend to get a bit greedy after awhile. At least when it comes to the ones in our family. When I was her age I had two...one of them constantly tried to kill me." She saw no reason in hiding all this, not when it came right down to the fact that her daughter was dying. A fact she had no doubt in.
"Only mine's name was Sasha, and she took a more direct approach..She wanted to destroy all of us....kill the body...But I haven't noticed any near fatal wounds on Kazumi so I am assuming that is not this one's goal." A little shake of her head as she would slowly trace her tongue along her lower lip before lifting her eyes to look at him.
"Before we go any further with this...I need to know what your interest is in this..." A glance past him and into the living room toward the couch where Kazumi currently slept. "What is your interest in her?" She had her ideas, as stated before, but she wanted to hear it from him, to know without a doubt what was going on. Because it was heavily dependent upon his reasons for being here, for trying to help, as to how she went about explaining this to him and giving him the knowledge he needed to deal with the one called Feht.
"I also need to know anything she has told you about what Earth did to her. I admit my knowledge is limited on the matter. She told me very little, and what she told her brother, he kept rather guarded. But I can't help unless I know more about how Earth managed to separate her and Phee."
She spoke in that usual, business like manner. Yet, no matter how cold Kevala might have usually been, how closed off to emotion she was....there was concern in her voice. But then, this was her daughter...how could she not be concerned? She had lost her once, she would not see it happen again.

As she moved to sit down Patrick would relax slightly. After a moment he too would follow, sitting across from the woman placing his gun down for the first time but not before switching it to safe and pointing it in a safe direction, the wall opposite of Kazumi and away from them. As Kevala spoke up Patrick found himself surprised. Very surprised, an odd look perhaps showing that. She didn't seem like the type to open up, ever. All the same though she had his complete and undivided attention, and perhaps some of that was because he didn't ever expect this sort of conversation to ever happen again. She made her comment about Feht's goal being different then Sasha's and Patrick would give the brief clarification, "It wants to be the only one in there."
Then she asked the question. The one that was in a similar vein of the one she had asked him when he had come to her looking for information. Patrick couldn't help but give a quiet laugh. No, not at Kevala, but at the question in general. Sure there were simple concise words that could generally sum it up. But that wouldn't do it justice. A moment of pause came before Patrick spoke pensively, buying more time, "It's a cliche but I don't know if words are adequate here."
"Well for starters we're boyfriend girlfriend now," Patrick said, that was the easy part. He sighed before continuing "I care very deeply for yer daughter. Like I said before, she made me consider the idea that it might be okay to live again. After I went after faux earth I was left with nothing on the inside. I had expected as much. I had been living as a shell before I met Kazumi, and I expected to exist as such after. Just a dead man walking, waiting for the last vestige of life to leave his body. But I found after a few months I couldn't do it anymore. Not after having reconsidered life, not after yer daughter. Moments before though, well after I guess, Kazumi ran across me. Hell, in the hours that followed I wasn't sure who was helping who. I guess, no, she made me stronger. She helped me so often, that now it's my turn to help out of her hole. And I'd give anything to do that."
"I don't know if that helps," Patrick said quietly, before an even more rare occurrence, more rare then him actually trying to talk about how he felt, "I'm sorry for givin me life's story there."
Then she asked what he knew. Back to business as usual. Something Patrick was far better at. Or at least, more comfortable with. The trick with what she wanted to know now, well that wasn't how to word it, but rather where to start.
"Well, unfortunately Faux Earth was very good at what he did. His goal appears to have been to free Phee, whom he named Feht, from simply being a background voice in her head to an actual personification. His end goal, based on my conversation with Feht, appeared to be the complete erasing of Kazumi. Killing her mind to leave only room for Feht. This is now Feht's goal as well. To become stronger then Kazumi to "kill" her, which unfortunately she is, as Kazumi's "blackouts" would seem to be getting longer, and her physical condition appears to be deteriorating further."
Now onto the how where Patrick's tone would visibly quicken so he could get through it without stopping to feel fury,
"Based on my conversations with both of them Faux Earth appeared to have nurtured Feht, in his own sick way, with some sick lines, "ye cant have pleasure without pain." All the while torturing Kazumi. Calling Kazumi weak and pathetic, he'd rape her calling her other names like whore and slut. He would cut her the draw out Feht, in addition he would starve her to force her to eat something she would say, but found to be utterly repulsive. However Kazumi said ye and her share a condition? That the man knew about but didn't seem to let her, do what was required of the condition?"
There was more he could tell her about Feht but he had already said quite a bit. It seemed like the best course of action was to let her digest this and if she needed to know, well they could always get back to that...

By the time he had finished speaking, those icy hues were solid crimson, swirls of black moving about with him them as she drew in a few deep breaths. A soft scraping sound could be heard, and if he looked, he would notice her nails digging fiercely into the wood of the table, leaving deep little grooves in their wake. To say she was angry, was an understatement.
"Students..." She managed to get the word out through gritted teeth. Another deep breath taken to calm herself before she would clarify what she meant. "That is what he fed her. The students that Wind and Water killed." She herself shuddered. She may have drank blood, may have murdered and tortured, but the thought of actually eating people, well that made her stomach turn. "She tried her best not to, but he starved her and beat her until she had no choice. When I got her back, her body rejected normal food. Every time she tried to eat, she would throw up. The way she shakes, its a result of living off of human flesh for too long. Its getting better, now that she is slowly being able to keep regular food down, but there is still a ways to go."
She pulled her hands back, a bit of blood left behind on the table from where splinters had cut into her fingertips. "I was held captive once. Similar things done to me. Only, the process worked in reverse. They destroyed my other personalities, and created a demon in my head. Just like her Phee." She spoke softer now, to avoid Kazumi hearing her. She didn't want to wake the girl, nor did she want to upset her. Mostly because this was going to get worse, much worse.
"From what I can gather. Feht is a bit immature...My guess is that Earth drew her out, not knowing she would be innocent and naive to this world....and then when he saw she was, he taught her how to behave. Whatever she does, she does because he told her it was normal. Phee would never have hurt Kazumi, but Feht, well she wants to be the owner of that body. The easiest thing would be to kill her off. But, if you do that, then a vital part of who Kazumi is will be gone. Same for if this Feht person manages to kill off Kaz." She didn't think she needed to clarify. It was pretty simple. They were two halves of a whole...if one died, the other would never be the same. It was just that simple.
Leaning back in her chair, she rubbed her temple slightly, listening as he asked about their condition and nodding slightly. "The Katashis...we have a very rare blood disorder, which causes us to crave iron. Think of it as a very fucked up, severe form of anemia. In some, like my brother, it makes them become cannibalistic...But for me, and for my daughter, it is simply the need to drink blood. It gives us the nutrients our body lacks."
She then sat forward, her mind working over the past few months, then back to the things they had already discussed. "If the mind doesn't think the body is being fed blood, it will start to weaken us and eventually kill us. It is psychosomatic in nature really, but not something that she nor I can help. Kazumi has always been able to go longer than myself without it, though the older she gets, the more she will crave it and need it." She then looked at him. If the two were dating then... "She has never bitten you when you two were .....intimate together?" It was common really for that to happen with them, especially when the craving was so bad. It would only make sense if the two were in a relationship that he would be the one that Kaz would seek to get her blood from, since doing so elsewhere would be like cheating to the girl...hell, it was like that to Kev now.
Her fingers began to tap the top of the table, trying to place where everything was going, trying to figure out what to do to help her daughter. It was very complicated, more so than most would understand, and it was not something that was going to be easy, not by any means. "You are going to have to get her to tell you what exactly happened to her. Then, you are going to have to draw out that other half...The only way to get rid of it, is to break it down until it is too weak to resurface....Something that will likely have to be done in sessions, because it will likely try and hide behind Kazumi. That is why I ask of your intentions here, because you will have to be able to comfort her, and assure her it is going to be okay, yet stay strong enough not to let her go....If you do, while she is weak, the other half will take over and escape so that nobody can find her until she has finished her task."
Yes, she knew what she was saying, but with what he had said thus far, it was seeming to be her only option. She could not do it, nor would she ask Mischa to....As for Gabriel or somebody else in the family...no. It had to be somebody that Kaz trusted enough to believe that it was going to be okay...And apparently, that was this guy.

A slight look of disgust crossed his face when she mentioned that Kazumi had been fed the students of the wind and water incidents. More so that she had been tortured to get her to eat them, and held forced to eat them. Patrick could see cannibalism in extreme circumstances. If forced he might partake, if there was no food, but this was different. She hadn't been on a boat out at sea with nothing else. But Patrick figured that was beside the point. As she mentioned Kazumi getting sick every time she tried to eat Patrick would simply say in slight realization, "Now it makes more sense. "
Patrick had to wonder if this was one of Feht's methods of taking control, it seemed very likely. Keeping her weak, or weakening her while Feht got stronger. In addition to that Patrick wondered if Kazumi's lack of sleep and lack of whatever her "condition" was played a part. The answers both seemed very likely yeses. Perhaps more so to the "condition", but they seemed to all be doing their part in weakening Kazumi.
When Kevala explained what she knew of Kazumi's alter ego. Patrick wouldn't exactly use those words, but more or less she was hitting it dead on. That part about taking away the vital parts of the other was of note though. So Patrick would speak up in some what of an observation, looking for Kevala's opinion because honestly, she knew a lot more about this stuff then Patrick, "All of the factors that are weakening Kazumi, would appear to be Feht's doing. Making itself stronger. Feht has rules that she has to follow. She seems to think that after she kills Kazumi she'll be free of those rules. Like she's evolving outside of Earth, whom she calls master, because she can't go to him."
When she finally explained the condition Patrick had to admit it was weird. At least to him. No, that was not him judging, it was just that he had never heard of anything like that before. He was finding himself further and further out of his element. There was part of him on the inside the marveled at the irony. It was just so much easier to put a bullet in the head of your problems. But the idea of needing something in that psychological sense, was somewhat foreign to him. Drugs he could understand, but this? When she asked if Kazumi had ever bitten him during sex Patrick frowned, "I'm assuming I should be concerned that she hasn't?"
He was getting the idea, albeit a little slow, but to his defense it was like he was being required to become an expert in a new field. One that he had no previous knowledge of. Once he got the hang of this better he'd begin to pick it up more quickly.
When she explained what he had to do Patrick's attention would be rapt. He hadn't been lying when he said anything. Though once again he found himself with more questions then answers. But in this circumstance, he chalked that up to his unfamiliarity with the process. He knew what she was saying but he had less of an idea of how to specifically do it.
"I have to admit," Patrick said, "I'm a bit out of my element. But I wasn't lying when I said I'd do anything."
But now to the questions.
"Ye mentioned how yer torture created yer demon, and that ye couldn't ever kill the other parts of ye" Patrick recalled, "Does that mean that yer intention of the outcome of this is to put phee back to where she was? Because to me that seems like that's implication."
No, that wasn't a slight on Kevala in the least. Just a clarification. She had said that Kazumi and Feht would lose parts of them that were vital if the other was destroyed. So it seemed like the obvious solution was to put Phee back.
"Also I think ye should know that Kazumi doesn't know about Feht yet. She's aware that she does things when she blacks out, but to her she's completely alone," Patrick said quietly, "I wasn't sure that telling her about Feht was the wisest course of action. I want to be sure before I do anything, so I don't make things worse."
But then it was to methods, of how to help Kazumi, specifically. And it was here that Patrick would tread with caution asking carefully, pensively, "So what yer suggesting is that I do something similar to what Earth did, in intention only? That I nurture Kazumi while telling Feht how weak and pathetic, it, is?"
Mental torture of Feht seemed to work in drawing Kazumi back out. Patrick figured, well strongly, strongly hoped that it would be what was required here. He didn't want to have to physically torture Feht, because Kazumi would eventually feel it. However that seemed to be what Kevala was heavily implying. And if that was the case, well he'd have to put his stone face on. Rape however, that was out of the question. That was one line he'd never cross. There was no way she could be suggesting that in Patrick's mind. How could that possibly be productive?

She might have known how to deal with this, but that didn't mean she found it easy in the slightest bit. She had been tortured more times than she could count, and she had suffered something very similar to what Kazumi had gone through, though perhaps not to this degree. Still, she knew what she was asking, and she knew what she was suggesting and it killed her inside, but the alternative was to watch her daughter die, and that she would not do....She would not lose her again.
"It is hard to understand the mind, especially a mind like mine and my daughters. I have found out, through no easy means, that Earth was very skilled in what he did to her, because he had the files from the hospital where they held and tortured me for months on end. Her being alive today is because they perfected their methods of bringing back the dead on me. Night after night, I died in every way possible that would not cause permanent damage to my brain. Well, not the kind of damage that would leave me a vegetable or anything. I was drowned, strangled, suffocated, bled out, electrocuted, given a heart attack, poisoned......The list goes on." She paused, having to calm herself as she felt her own wave of panic starting to set in, her chest growing tighter, her heart racing. "Each time they brought me back and each time I wished they had just left me dead. But they won't let me die. Just as they won't let her die. I am a genetic experiment of my family and my offspring is just as prized a possession to them. That is why, when you came to my door, I told you to let go of your concepts of what you believed to be reality. Because reality, for us, is a horrible, nightmarish sci-fi movie that does not end."
She stopped, looking up as the door opened, Carmine coming in and a look of concern crossing his face as those dark eyes fell upon Kazumi laying there upon the couch, a glance to Kevala, though he said nothing. "Please keep an eye on her Carmine. If she wakes with blackened eyes, restrain her....carefully."
He would give a nod and then move to take a seat in front of the small girl, worry all the more evident on his face as he kept those eyes trained on her. With that, Kevala would turn back to Patrick. "They learned how to work my mind, to a certain degree, though ultimately, it was far too complex and the fact that my wife and a friend broke in and stole me away cut their testing short. Yet, apparently they had enough information on how to properly torture her mind in order to get the other half of her to come out." She knew she was talking too much probably, but he needed to know this....and though Kev did not wish to discuss her past, to save her child she would do whatever it took. Say what you will about the woman, but in her own fucked up way, Kevala was a good mom.
"From what I can gather, Earth instantly began to treat her as though she was two separate people. I admit she did not tell me much, but she did speak of some of it, and other bits I have heard while she talks in her sleep. From what I can gather, he would keep her in a chair, keep her drugged with various psychotropic drugs and place a device on her head. It fed her images, one set good, one set horrific and violent. He would then place electrodes on her head and shock her while whispering certain words into her ear and then moving to say others into the opposite." She would glance at him, to see if he was piecing together how that had worked. Earth had been tearing her mind apart, had been literally separating her into two halves. "When he finally succeeded, he broke her personality in half and parts of who she was became locked away with Feht, the rest with Kazumi, causing both of them to be very different from the other due to the fact that they need each other to be complete. But once he had Feht, he then began to nurture her, feed her, baby her and show her affection. At least, this is my best guess, like I said, I don't know the details."
She would then sigh and move to lean on her elbows on the table. Her tongue brushing over her lips slowly. "If I had to guess....He would allow Feht to then indulge in her blood lust, and taught her how to conceal that need from Kazumi. Its like when you have a bad memory you don't want to think about, you put up a mental wall to hide it. Feht is doing that to Kaz...she is blocking her from craving blood, and therefore, she isn't getting it and her mind, knowing this at least when she is in this state, is shutting down. I can only guess that Feht is also still continuing on her diet that Earth taught her, probably why Kazumi cannot stop shaking for very long and why more and more lately she is starting to throw up whatever she eats again."
She would then fall silent as a small yet desperate whimper came from the couch, the small girl that laid there shifting, yet not waking up. It was not hard to guess she was back in that room...trapped there....gods knew what happening to her. "I would also guess Feht is feeding her images of the event...When I had my other personality, she would feed me images of things she did, and they were so real, I could feel the pain or feel the man's hands on my flesh...It was like living it again through her eyes....I am guessing, Feht is doing that to Kazumi, even right this moment." She shook her head, one hand coming up to rest her forehead in her palm.
"So yes, I am suggesting that you do what Earth did, only in reverse. Merge the two back together, find some way of torturing Feht and then, when she tries to hide behind Kaz, staying strong, comforting Kazumi, and yet not freeing her. It cannot all be done in one setting...but at the very least, we can hopefully weaken Feht enough that she doesnt gain control so easily. Will make bringing Kazumi back to repeat the process that much easier. It will be a matter of mentally wearing Feht down as well as physically, since she is apparently doing that to Kaz. Denying that half blood, forcing Kaz to drink....Denying the other half the food it craves, feeding Kaz....Figuring out what makes Feht tick and using it against her, while trying to do things to sooth Kaz and assure her it will be alright. Most of all sleep. I can provide sedatives...to ensure that even if she has nightmares she stays asleep..though the downside is knowing you are trapping her in that place for hours."
She would then fall silent and would give one last nod, eyes lifting to look toward Kazumi who was shifting on the couch once more. "You will have to tell her of Feht, and explain why this must be done....I cannot, the other half even thinks I have anything to do with this, it will likely never surface. Though I can stay in touch through phone, radio, whatever....That is up to you..." Now, it was time to wait for him to respond....then they could decide where to go from there. Though they didn't have too much time, since the small girl was starting to stir more and more....She would be waking soon.

Patrick looked at Kevala, almost wanting to not believe what she was saying. But the tone of her voice and look on her face told him that she was not lying. That and Kazumi was back, and she had watched her die himself. She was right, it did seem like some crazy sci fi horror shit that was going on. But Patrick had to agree, it seemed like it would have been better to stay dead. He had been close to death many times, but there had to be something more to actually dying. He couldn't help but give a sardonic comment, "And ye'd think that coming back would be a blessing."
When Patrick heard the door unlocking again his hand inched towards his glock. But it was nothing more then a twitch as he noticed that Kevala wasn't moving. He knew there were others here, employed by Kevala no doubt so he stayed his hand. Reflexes that had been honed over years calming. Besides, he had seen the man that just walked in, once. That day at the pond. The head of Kevala's security right? Well ultimately it was irrelevant because while Patrick didn't exactly trust the man, Kevala did and well that calmed Patrick's paranoia.
Then she started speaking again and Patrick's mind was occupied. Like she assumed, when she spoke of the specific way that Earth had likely tortured Kazumi he was confused. He understood it, but only in a "Oh I could see how that works" kind of way. But that wasn't enough. He wouldn't be able to replicate it. As soon as she would move to the rest Patrick understood entirely. Denying Feht, but nurturing Kazumi. Torturing Feht, but comforting Kazumi. Even now he was coming up with a vague plan of how to accomplish those objectives. Though merging the personalities, that would be much harder. While he was adept at making others suffer, trying to put the pieces together, that would be a tad more difficult. Especially because he didn't entirely understand how earth had separated the two.
When she mentioned having to tell Kazumi about Feht, now that was the tricky part. Well, not really but that was the first step down a path that would no doubt be long, painful, and one they'd very likely have to follow through to the end. But there was no other alternative. At her suggestion Patrick would agree suggesting his own idea, "Perhaps some sort of headset?"
Patrick's eyes glanced over to Kazumi, he too noting that their little chat was coming to an end. So he had to make this fast, "I know ye don't want to think back to it, but do ye have any notes on how they merged yer personalities? The methods they used? Might be worth considering using some of them because I don't quite understand the specifics of how faux earth's torture pulled them apart."

Carmine was looking at Kazumi and then back at Kev, he wanted to pick up the small girl and get her out of there, he wanted to protect her, he wanted to save her, because if there was ever a man who came close to be a Father to the girl, it was him. Yet he knew that he could not, that ultimately it was Kevala's decision what was done with the girl, but he would worry and he would kill anyone who hurt her, even if it meant bringing about Kevala's wrath.
As for Kev, she nodded, a hand raising to signal for Carmine to come into the room they were seated in. "Give me a headset and call Edward. Tell him I need a secure frequency set up between mic two and five." The man would nod as he entered the room, removing a headset from his pocket and laying it upon the table. It was a simple black wire with a mic on one end and an ear piece on the other. But it was high dollar and the best money could buy. "I will keep mine on me the entire time she is here with you. They have unlimited range due to a nifty little micro chip that my head of technology put in them." She left out the fact that he had stolen the designs from a rather high end government agency, seeing as how nobody needed to know that.
"Carmine, go to the car and get my briefcase, I will be leaving it here for the time being." The man giving her a hesitant look before nodding in agreement and then moving out of the room and then the house to do as he was told. "It is not a very steady method, the way he chose to separate them and he had to have known that it might not have worked...but basically, what he did was feed one side of her personality with all the violence, anger, rage and blood it could handle, while depriving the other of what it needed, and softening it with images that were docile and calm. Imagine having to watch two separate tv shows, one with each eye. You are unable to look at one or the other with both eyes, unable to turn away.....One side is nothing but blood, destruction, pain and torment. The other happy, peaceful, calm...Now imagine that on a brain that operates on two frequencies. One dark and twisted, the other gentle and kind....Add to that the shock to her brain, and the words, and basically what he did was provoke Feht until she was easier to bring about....And then, once he had her in the physical sense....he began to nurture her and baby her..."
She tried her best to explain it, but it was rather hard, even for her. As the briefcase was brought in and laid down upon the table in front of her, she would turn it to face her and sigh. "To merge my personalities, they would hurt me, over and over and over again until there was no option for the but to merge. You see, Feht can say that she wants to destroy Kazumi all she wants, just as Sasha said she wished to kill me....But in the end....they merged with me, in order to help deal with the pain and so that they too could experience the small bits of relief that I was allowed to feel every now and then. Get to know Feht, find out what she wants..what she craves, and deny it to her....If she craves affection, show her the affection you have for Kazumi, but not her....make it clear it will never be her...Food, only give her that which she needs to survive and nothing more.....No blood. Find out what pain actually hurts her, give her that, but deny her any that she enjoys...." She would then pop open her briefcase and pull out a file, her hand gripping it rather tightly, Carmine looking at her with full concern in his gaze. "Kevala...no..."
She shook her head. "It is for her..." She would then stand. Placing the file down onto the table. "In the briefcase is enough sedative to keep her in a normal sleep cycle for several days along with another toxin which causes severe pain. Use that one on Feht....trust me, she wont be able to stand it." She would then slide the file toward him, hand hesitant to let it go and Carmine reaching for her as if to stop her. "Anything you need to know about what was done to me....is in there."
Quickly she would jerk her hand away and move to leave, Carmine shooting the boy a threatening glare before following after her. "I will be on line in twenty minutes. If you need me, simply press the button on the mic and talk. I will be there." And with that, the door would shut, sealing itself, and a beep would soon be heard as the alarm was set and motion sensors activated once again. Now leaving just him and Kazumi alone in that house.

"Fancy," Patrick said rather devoid of tone as she put the headset down. He didn't know where she had gotten the tech to do that, but he didn't really want to know either. It was of the high end variety that made this piece of information, better not to know. Despite Patrick's generally curious nature, he had no desire here. There was no reward in that information, only risk. Besides everyone knew that with enough money you could even bring the dead back to life, apparently that was no longer just a saying.
As she explained how Earth tortured Kazumi it made a lot more sense this time around. The whole separate channels thing. Even now Patrick was formulating theories and ideas. Ways to drive Feht made, to torture her, although he tried to stay away from the physical side. One, because well she obviously liked to be hit and two, because people rarely responded in the desired manner being just hit. Patrick had always found that physical torture, while useful was only such when it was the supplement to mental or emotional torture. Additionally he was considering ways to draw out Feht, though he was less certain as to how he would do that. Well, also there was that whole thing about not really wanting to hurt Kazumi to do that which was concerning.
He nodded at Kevala's ideas, ones that he had been tossing and turning around in his head too, for the most part. The added information on her torture was interesting, though Patrick wasn't entirely sure how, or if he was going to use it. When she gave him the sedative and the pain juice Patrick nodded as she explained. He knew what it was like being trapped in a nightmare. He had done the same thing in the months leading up to his assault on earth. Always waking, always screaming, never able to escape until the meds wore off. He nodded one final time as she slide the file towards him.
As she turned off and Carmine shot him that threatening look. Patrick only looked at the man bored if anything, the look on his face serving to ask the question, "Really?". Yeah, like he was going to use this information against Kevala, when there were much more pressing matters...
