She had stayed home, again. She didn't like it, but with her memories still coming back at unusual intervals and her body still a little weak and banged up from the whole ordeal with that crazy doctor guy, both Patrick and her Mother had insisted that she stay home. Though to be honest, Kazumi had to wonder if they would both be so overly protective, at least to this degree, if she were not pregnant.
Who knew really? Though, she had to admit, she was glad she was not left completely alone in their house all day. They had moved back in a couple days after everything that had happened, once her Mother was able to ensure that it was clean of any bugs and was able to have Carmine install a new security system. Carmine being the one who was here with her now. Not that it was much fun, seeing as how he didn't do much but sit there, or stand around, or whatever....He wasn't a man of many words, unless he had to be, and from what little Kazumi had been able to recall, that was not very often.
So, here she sat, at home, with a man who just sat around, and absolutely nothing to do with herself other than draw. She was glad that she was able to remember things, especially the fact that she loved to draw, but that didn't make staying home without any form of entertainment easier. She had remembered a lot over the past week or so and one of the things she had quickly remembered was her dislike of the light and of all things media related. Anything that had a moving picture on it, yeah, totally freaked her out. So that left tv and surfing the web out of the question....As for the radio, well that just bothered her because she didn't like all the noise. So yeah, it was just Kazumi, a sketch pad and a stack of different drawing utensils.
This was like her fifth sketch pad, all the others having been filled up with various things that she had remembered as of late, or with random things that crossed her mind. Not all of them good mind you, since a lot of what she had to go off of was bad memories. But others were not so bad, like the ones of her brothers, or her moms...Patrick or their house....Stuff like that.
Sprawled out on the bed, her art supplies surrounding her, she was currently working on one that was from a not so happy memory....A mask....But not just any mask but the one that had belong to...that guy....Ugh, what was his name?
Earth!
The realization making her shudder, though she continued to draw, not really aware of what time it was or when Patrick would be home, and not bothering to go check on Carmine who was currently perched in the living room down the hall.

Patrick had decided to call it quits on school, quite early. Figured it was a pretty normal response when you were told that the major life shaping events were planned. That you were only what you were because you had been made to be such. Something about being told that you were a killer, because you were pushed down that path. It kind of made you stop and think. While he didn't quite know how deep it went Patrick kind of figured that it had to be bad. At first he had thought he should just burn the files. So that he could just wipe his hands clean of his past. That act being the ultimate show of him letting go of his past for Kazumi. Which would also fulfill her mother's wishes of her being with someone who wasn't going to put her in the back seat for some memories. However it had also been her wish to have him read the files in here. To see exactly how deep the conspiracy of his life ran. And while at first he had thought he didn't need to, Kevala had been right. He needed to. There was just that burning desire to know how much of his life had been influenced by these people. Morbid curiosity at this pore, really, he had no intention of killing any of these people.
However there was a flipside to all of this. After all these years, if he wanted to, he could be free of all of it. Of everything. He didn't have to kill anymore, the man that had held control over him dead, he was the only one with the documents that they had lauded over him threatening to send them to the cops. The documents that not only recorded his crimes, all of them he was about to find out, but his entire life. He wanted to read them because it was time to finally learn what part of his life was a sham and what wasn't. Maybe get some closure on this whole life shit.
As he drove home though, he couldn't help but feel it. Like a great weight on him was getting lighter. Patrick fully figured it to be the fact that he was on the verge of being fee of his life, but at the same time though, there was a sense of this being so much bigger then that. If it was though, it wasn't something that he could place his fingers on. He just drove him, with the files secured in his backpack. An odd habit for someone like him who didn't use bags but this was different, he had files that he wasn't going to risk bum snagging a page from him, for various reasons. The main one being he didn't go through all of this shit to just give it up now.
So when he pulled in naturally he was a little excited, a little anxious and a little nervous. Patrick would walk up to the panel that was newly installed and punch in his number. After a few beeps he'd walk into the house, kick of his shoes off calling out, "Kazumi i'm home!"

Kazumi was laying on the bed, right in the middle of drawing when she heard the front door open. At first she assumed that it was just Carmine going outside to check on something so she didn't make any move to get up, though when she heard that familiar voice call out, she would smile rather brightly, rolling off the bed and then darting out of the room. To say she missed him was a bit of an understatement, and that showed by the fact that in about five seconds he had his small, one hundred and seven pound girlfriend wrapped about him, her legs curled about his waist, her arms about his neck. "Hey baby.." Her hair falling in a bit of a mess around her face now, given that she wasn't exactly working to keep it nice and neat in her attempts at wrapping herself about him. Of course, this was also assuming he braced himself, cause even though she was small, she did tend to hit a bit hard at times...Not that she did so intentionally, it was just something that she didn't realize she did.
That smile rather bright still as she pressed her lips to his for a moment, completely oblivious to the fact that Carmine was still seated on the couch, now shifting about rather uncomfortably. "You are home early..." The realization causing her brow to furrow slightly as she tilted her head, a look of concern crossing her gaze. "You okay?"
One hand moving upward and fingers lovingly brushing through the back of his hair and down his neck, her lower lip being bitten as she waited for him to reply. As for moving, well she was rather comfortable and had no intention of going anywhere unless he pushed her off of him. A little huff of air being pushed past her lips in a failed attempt and blowing some of her hair out of her face. Though ultimately, all it proved to do was just move it around a bit before it fell right back across her eyes and nose, which she wrinkled up slightly as a result.
Carmine would then push himself up off the couch, a glance to the two of them before clearing his throat....just to make sure somebody realized that he was still there. "I will be heading out then.." Fully assuming that Patrick was here for the remainder of the day because he was almost certain that the small brunette wasn't about to let him out of her clutches any time soon.
Moving to make his way to the door, he would nudge his way past them, a half ass grin on his face as he did so. "That girls going to wear you out one day..." Muttered in passing as he reached the door, keying in his code and pulling it open so that he could exit. Though not without a rather irritated little growl from Kazumi who was not too keen on being made out to sound like some kind of predator or something, sticking her tongue out at him as he turned to wave goodbye before shutting the door.
Then, just like that her full attention was back on Patrick. "Did something happen today? Or did you just miss me that much?" A little giggle given as she would once again brighten up with a rather happy little smile. As of late, she had been in an extra good mood. With everything having happened it was pretty amazing she managed it, but then, she also had so much to be happy about...the main thing being the man she was currently clinging too and the fact that they were going to have a child together....Not to mention he was home...and she loved it when he was home. So yeah, happy Kaz for the most part.

It didn't take long for Kazumi to appear, running full speed at him. Launching herself into his arms, and while Patrick had a bit of time to brace himself, she did hit hard sometomes. Not that Patrick couldn't handle it, it just forced him back a step or two, his back against the wall. His arms wrapping around her lower back. A smile crossing his face as she gave him that little greeting, "Hey Kazumi, ye look stunning as always."
True, even though her hair was in her face, that fact didn't change, least not to him. He also loved the fact that she greeted him so enthusiastically, didn't make it hard to feel loved, not in the least. As she pressed her lips to his Patrick would kiss her back, allowing the kiss to linger for a moment. Perhaps he remembered that Carmine should be here somewhere, perhaps not. At this point though, it didn't really matter to him anyway. It was their home after all, well that, and she was in his arms kissing him already. Sorry Carmine.
"I'm better now," Patrick said with a soft smile, unable to resist poking her in the nose as her head tilted with that brow furrow. His voice giving no indication that there was anything wrong, not in the slightest. Sure he had some big, some important information and what not, but it didn't seem big enough to be pressing right now. Least not with her in his arms. As her hand ran through his hair and that puff of air did nothing to move her hair Patrick would chuckle softly, his hand coming up to brush her hair out of her face, another little poke on the nose given.
As Carmine announced his presence, saying his was leaving, well Patrick didn't really care to make much of a mention of it. Figuring he was the one in their home. Well, not that he was a jackass, but he did have his beautiful girlfriend in his arms. And he did say that he was leaving. Figured it was nothing to get bothered by. However when he did give that grin and tell him that she was going to wear him out Patrick couldn't help but shoot his own grin back,"Perhaps, but that is not this day."
With him gone though Patrick's attention returned fully to the beautiful young woman in his arms. Smiling at her answer he would reply with a grin, "A bit of both actually."
Poking her once again on the nose his mood not really dampened by the seriousness of what had happened today, "I talked to yer mother today and she gave me some files."
Stepping away from the wall, knowing he hadn't explained anything yet...

She was very happy that he was home and as he pressed his lips back into her own, returning that kiss, she would smile that much more...content with just being in his arms as his back pressed into the wall. Though, when he poked the tip of her nose she would wrinkle it slightly, giggling just a bit. "Better now?" Of course she was concerned, better now implied that something was wrong before and she didn't like that.
Though as Carmine walked by and made his little comment she would shoot Patrick a little glare, not really liking that he took part in that joke since she was soooo not a predator or whatever they were trying to make her out to be. Yet, as soon as he tapped the end of her nose again she found herself unable to really stay miffed about it. That smile once more lighting up her face as she leaned in and nuzzled lightly against her mark on the side of his neck. Listening as he said that it had been a mixture of something happening and his missing her, that had brought him home.
Only proving to further worry her and cause her to pull back, looking at him once more. Then, when he mentioned her Mother her brow would raise slightly. "Files? About what?" She was still in a rather good mood but to be honest, at this point she was becoming increasingly concerned. She may not have had her memories back fully, but she knew enough to know and see that Patrick and her Mother Kevala didn't exactly....get along well...when in the same room. So yeah, it was rather odd that her Mother would give him anything unless it had some major form of significance.
"She was nice though......right?" Wincing a little as she bit the corner of her bottom lip. She knew that her Mother was not the nicest person in the world, though she did try she just came across as a bit cold and calculating...enough so that it made Kazumi herself a bit uneasy....So yeah, she didn't imagine that that meeting had gone well. Her little fingers continuing to brush through his hair as she leaned in once more and softly brushed her lips along his jawline. Waiting now for him to answer and clue her in as to what was going on.

"Getting there," Patrick chuckled. Truth was, her presence really did make things better for him. He loved how she could do that to him, for the stupid little stuff. Just turn his mood or his day around. It was something he was very grateful for really.
Patrick couldn't help but grin as she shot him that little glare of her. He couldn't help it, she just looked too cute as she did that. And how could he regret doing anything that got that kind of a reaction from her, well save the big stuff but that was beside the point. But back to the point he couldn't help but chuckle at her as she nuzzled into her mark on his neck. She wasn't a predator, right. At this point though he couldn't resist, teasing, "Yer not a predator right? Remind me again how that mark got put there?"
But then thing took a more serious turn as she asked about the files. There was really no skirting about it, and well, Patrick wanted her to know. He had decided on the ride over that he wanted her to read the files along with him. He wanted her to know about his life. All the grimy details. There was a bit of nervousness in this as it really was the ultimate form of trust that he could bestow upon her, on anyone really. But he loved her, trusted her and they were about to have a child together. She should know he figured, he wanted her to know anyway. He didn't want to keep any secrets from her as they started to raise their child. He didn't want to keep any secrets from her ever again, "They're about me. Apparently that doctor guy that took ye has had his eyes on me my entire life. Apparently my parent's murder was no random act by a gang and his hand's been in my life for a long time now."
The way Patrick spoke about his parent's death was rather emotionally detached. Not that he was uncaring about it. But it had been a long time ago. And he had never really known his parents so why should he feel too broken up over it? At least that's what he had figured over the last few years. As he spoke it was pretty clear that he hadn't read the files yet. That he had been waiting. Figuring that it would be rather clear to her that he wanted her to be involved. Because if he was going to read them and not let her know, he wouldn't have come straight home.
"As nice as we can be to each other," Patrick chuckled at her question about her mother. It was no secret that they were generally at odds with one another. While Patrick didn't necessarily dislike her as she did him, he just didn't trust her. She seemed like a woman who kept everything that you did down. To him he had always figured that she'd sell you down the river the second that you turned your back. No, it wasn't that Patrick disliked her, he just had no trust in her, except for the fact that she loved her daughter, and would do just about anything for her. So the only trust that Patrick had was that as long as he was looking out for Kazumi's best interests and loved her, then well her mother's care for her daughter would keep him safe.
Probably...

When he gave her that look and then teased her about being a predator, she would gasp, rather dramatically. She was wounded! Hurt even! Sure, he had a point! But still! That was totally beside the point!
Her brow scrunching together slightly as her lower lip jutted out just slightly, eyes narrowing a little bit more. "I am not a predator...that is just to make sure people don't forget that you are mine...." A little, firm nod before she would lean in rather quickly and bite down upon that mark, just shy of drawing blood but enough to leave little marks upon his flesh, her body teasingly rocking down onto him as she did so. "So you don't forget...." Growling the words against his flesh before she would trail her tongue along the mark slowly, sensually.....
Then, just like that, she would pull back and wiggle free of his grasp, her feet pressing into the carpet of the floor beneath her as she would shrug rather casually..."But if you think it makes me a predator, then fine....Won't do it anymore..." Another nod as she spun around on her heels and sauntered off toward the living room.
Not that she wasn't paying attention as he began to explain about the files, she just wasn't going to take such blasphemy laying down! Principles! That was what this was about...However, when he mentioned that Doctor guy she would cringe slightly, trying to conceal the small shudder that ran through her body as she would plop down onto the couch, leaning into the arm of such and propping her legs up on the cushions. Then he mentioned his parents and her gaze would soften just slightly, lower lip bitten as she pulled her knees upward to her chest, wrapping her arms about them.
She could hear the detachment in his voice and though she supposed she understood it, she worried about him for it. Sure, he didn't feel things like she did, she understood that, but a part of her wondered if this was just another part of his past he was choosing not to deal with. "So....he is the guy that has well...had you do all those things in the past?" She didn't have to ask to know the answer, but she did just the same. Her memory had at least allowed her to know that he was involved in things in his past that he didn't want to tell people. Things that haunted him. She understood how secretive he was and that he had been working for somebody....Now, apparently it was clear who.
She had to admit though, she was rather surprised that he had brought the files straight home. She had never really pushed him for information about his past, or so she thought, and she had never really intended too unless it came to the point that it was a threat to their child in the future. But this, well this was a big step for him, showing that he wanted to share it with her....Her little toes wiggling about a bit before burying into the crease between the cushions on the couch.
"Well, you are not bleeding so it couldn't have gone that bad....She is alive still right?" She was sure she was....she hoped. But she figured she would ask for good measure. She understood that he didn't trust her Mother and well, that was a legitimate concern when it came to Kevala, but Kazumi wasn't so sure that the woman was as out to get him as he might have thought she was.
Blue eyes lingering upon him now as she reached up and tucked a bit of her hair back behind her ear. She was still on her very determined and steadfast path to make a stand about the whole predator thing, but that didn't mean she was any less concerned or interested in what he had to say and what he was going through. She just had to put her foot down sometimes!

Patrick couldn't help but grin when she gave him that little quip about marking her territory, something he so badly wanted to comment on, but he held his tongue. He really did think she was quite cute when she was indignate like this. Her bite on his neck drawing a pleasured hiss through his grin as she followed it up by rocking her body down on his drawing a sigh. Closing his eyes as her tongue licked sensually at her mark. He couldn't deny that he wouldn't forget. Not ever. But then just like that to prove her point she wiggled out of his arms stepping back, leaving him hanging there. As she walked away Patrick would grin, not really deterred in the least, "I've always thought that the thought of ye as a predator was very sexy."
Truth. That possessive side of her, the one that growled and told him that he was her during sex. He had always found that very appealing. Very predator like, reminiscent of a feline really. There was quite a degree of attraction in it really. Whether that offend her or not, it was the truth.
Regardless Patrick would follow her to the couch. Sitting down next to her he'd put his bag at his feet and pull out the files, laying them out on the coffee table. As he did this he'd answer her question with a short little, "Yeah..."
The Doctor was the one that had been the one pulling the strings the whole time. Although Patrick didn't see him directly until he had rescued Kazumi it was the end of the line, or so Kevala had seemed to suggest. That meant that it was the end of the line for Patrick. He didn't have to worry about that phone going off anymore telling him a odd hours of the night to go kill somebody. And more importantly, if Kevala was right he didn't really have to worry about someone trying to take Kazumi like this Doctor had either.
"No, everyone's still breathing and no one's bleeding," Patrick answered her question with a slight chuckle. They were bad, but they weren't that bad were they? He didn't think so. But then again, she had shot at him at one point, and given the opportunity or the need that night Patrick would have done the same. Then again, he hadn't quite told Kazumi about that either.
After a long pause, at the beginning of which Patrick would turn his eyes on the files and stare at them. There was a part of him that very much wanted, no needed to see what was in them. But at the same time he was hesitant to see just how much of his life the doctor had controlled. It was nerve wracking to be quite honest. But no, it was like Kevala had said, he really did need to know. After the pause Patrick would simply ask Kazumi, "Would ye like to do the honors?"

Oh she heard him and would grin as her back was to him, but that did not mean he was off the hook by any means. Well, not yet at least. Only because she was trying really hard here to make her stand on the issue. Still, she did rather like that he found her so sexy, especially when she was being a rather predatory vixen. Oh, yes, she knew damn well that she was really a predator of sorts, she just didn't really enjoy being called out on it all that much.
Though, her resolve would last about two seconds once he sat down before she was shifting onto her hands and knees upon the couch and crawling her way into his lap. Shifting about to get comfortable, she would settle into him, curling up just a bit and nuzzling her nose softly against her mark on his neck. "Fine...but you are so going to pay for this later." Yeah, he totally wasn't but she was doing her best at sounding threatening....even if she totally failed at it.
Then as he laid the files out on the coffee table she would not the nervousness that he seemed to be showing and would softly brush her lips along his jawline, her finger moving to slowly trace along the scar that ran across his eye...Choosing not to say anything but instead just show him that she was there for him, reassuring him with her touch and light brushes of her lips against his flesh.
Though when he asked if she wished to do the honors she would pull back, casting him a look before glancing down at the files. "You are sure?" Once more looking at him as she ran her thumb along his jawline slowly, fingers resting against the side of his neck. Though as she did this, she would lean forward, taking up the first file and settling it upon her lap. Yet she did not open it, instead choosing to wait for his reply, because she honestly did not want to force this on him.
However, if he said he was sure, she would then open up the file, nestling her small body down into him and laying her head against his chest so that blue eyes could scan over the pages while staying out of the way so that he could do the same. Not entirely sure what she was about to find out about him, but pretty much telling herself to be ready for just about anything.

Patrick couldn't help but let a small smirk grace his lips as she crawled her way into his lap. Feeling her back against his chest, he would turn his head into her slightly as she nuzzled her way into the mark on his neck. An arm would wrap its way around her as well as she curled up into him. He knew she was still trying to be "mad" at him but Patrick still couldn't deny that he liked this, not in the least. Still though, he'd at least try and let her have this one, it would save him later, "Yes ma'am."
As he looked down to the files nervously Patrick felt her hand's reassuring touch on his face. Her lips brushing his jawline as his eye closed allowing her finger to brush over his eye. He had to admit, it was invited, quite so. And it was reassuring. He particularly liked it, helping him feel more comfortable in doing it. Though there was a section at the end he was definitely afraid of showing to her. Especially if this was comprehensive, and especially seeing as they had a child on the way.
When she asked him if he was sure Patrick would only give a brief nod. He was sure. This had to be done. As nerve wracking as it might be she, as well as him had to know. As she picked a seemingly random file Patrick looked own on it. When she opened it he'd say, "Let's see what it has to say."
"Date: Oct 19 20XX (Patrick is 15 years old)
The boy's mental state is beginning to make a dramatic shift. This is a positive direction for our future desires for him. Where as so far the boy has displayed strong morals and has refused to kill, it would seem he is becoming increasingly violent and disillusioned. It appears our decision to push for his enrollment into PHS 552 was the correct decision. Being pushed into the war has done wonders physically and the added stress of being going undercover has worked in our favor. His ability to compartmentalize his emotions will work greatly to our favor, expanding future possibilities. More over he has kept his "cover" quite well. Even as paranoid as that headmaster is, he doesn't suspect that his prized enforcer is a plant. Even more encouraging news, moving back to the disillusionment is the fact that his beatings of "wrongdoing" students have become increasingly more violent. Injuries they have sustained have become more damaging physically, increasing to the point of prolonged hostpitalization.
An incident of note is one with a Jack O'Connor, where this "Jack" stabbed a student and forced our O'Connor to fight him if he wanted to save the girl. There have been reports of an increased anger in the child, though no incidents with "evil" students have occurred since. This comes with remarkable timing of what is supposed to occur at the school tomorrow. Good inteligence says that a disillusioned former student of the Headmaster, along with a family member is poised to attack the school. Reports say that one of the men is an explosives expert and in addition to that a group of paramilitary men will be led by the men. Objectives state that the men are to shoot anyone on sight.
While this is concerning I have elected to take no measures to prevent the strike or remove the boy from the situation. There are dangers of losing our hopeful candidate yes, but there were always going to be risks. The boy is on the precipice as it is, this incident should he survive it could push him far down the path we wish for him, past the point of no return.
Tomorrow it will be Kill or be killed for our young O'Connor, and if my hypothesis on his mental state is correct, this could be his first step down the path to us. Should he survive that is.
Date: Oct 20 20XX
Most pleasing results indeed. While we regrettably were not able to follow his actions inside he has indeed survived. What's more intriguing was his bag was more full at the end of the day then it was at the beginning. He even had a second bag! I sent men to confirm my suspicions on the contents of the bags and they were confirmed indeed, which seems to suggest that our young boy has broken his oath. More importantly his procurement of his new toys seems to suggest that he intends to break it again, and again."
Patrick waited for her to finish reading it before speaking to fill in the blanks, "I helped the bomber move his explosives to where he intended to plant them. At the time me and the others who helped had no clue what were in the boxes. It was a career fair so we figured everything was legit. And well the guy was offering money and I was barely scrapping by. On our way back to the gym the school was hit. Not many people in the gym survived but we were fortunate to sneak up on a group. We took them out and stole their weapons. I stabbed one of the unconscious men to death with his knife. I was so angry that people could do those types of things to other innocent people. It was the first time I killed someone, my hand didn't shake and I didn't feel guilt. It wasn't the last time I killed someone that day."
Patrick paused, "Eventually I made it to the bombed out gym with another group of students. Unarmed we faced of with one of the men who had attacked, it was the Headmaster's son I think. I fought alongside the Bone dragon, Linda Osaka I think her name was. That was back when there was honor in being called a dragon. Anyways we killed him and I gathered what I could and went home. At the time I couldn't allow people who killed and made innocent people suffer live, at least I was contemplating it. So I brought the guns home. I still have the pistols and used the frequently up until this point."
Patrick really didn't have much problem discussing this one. This incident in his life. It wasn't too bad, hell you could say that if he hadn't he would be here. Well save for stabbing that man to death...

Kaz would just let him think that she thought she won, knowing damn good and well that he was just backing off because he didn't want to be sleeping on the couch later tonight. Settling in against him though, she would continue to offer him reassuring little gestures with her touch and an occasional brush of her lips against his flesh, at least up until the point that she pulled the file into her lap.
Once he had assured her that this was what he wanted, she would open it, her eyes scanning over the page rather intently, all the while keeping her head rested softly against him. She wasn't sure what it was that bothered her about this, definitely not his actions, because she could understand them....sorta. No, she wasn't passing judgment on him for anything that she had read, though she did feel that nagging sensation that told her that something was very off.
A few moment's later, once she had finished reading the page, it would finally hit her. It felt so off because she could not stand the idea of somebody treating him like some lab rat. Granted, that was basically all she was, or so she was coming to understand, but this was entirely different, this was..well...him.
As he began to explain the missing bits of information, giving her more incite into the details of that day which they were speaking about, she would nod slightly before shifting just a bit so that she could nuzzle into him more comfortably. She understood the lack of guilt when you killed somebody, more often than not that was what she experienced. She could also understand that it was not something that was entirely bad, at least not in her fucked up perception of the world they lived in. Again, she just didn't like the idea of somebody nudging him, without his knowledge to do those kind of things.
Not entirely sure what to say about it other than to offer her presence and to show him that she was not freaking out or anything, she would simply run her fingers over the page before closing it and reaching out to grab another file and flipping it open...She figured that whatever this one had to say was going to just prove to shed more light on him, at least in her eyes, and probably make her feel that much more unsettled about the role that doctor had played in his life....But she genuinely wanted to know....So, she read on.

Patrick was glad she was here. At least so far. So far she wasn't recoiling from him, thinking he was a monster. While that was positive she hadn't read any of the really terrible things that he had done. As he explained what happened on that day, he did take comfort in the fact that she nuzzled into him more, getting comfortable. It made him feel better about the whole thing. While he knew that she needed to know, he still couldn't help but tell her these things with a sense of hesitance. He had never let anyone know about this stuff, it seemed only natural that it would make him nervous even if he didn't do any of the crazy shit he had.
The next file she picked up, was one of an earlier time, when he was still in Boston:
"Location: Boston Date: April 4, 199X This whole escapade with the orphans has been going on long enough. The boy isn't going to learn any additional skills with them at this point. He's already mastered pick pocketing, deception, misdirection, resourcefulness and staying unnoticed. It's time to shake things up again. We'll be sending in the Swede again. He's a familiar face. The swede will bring in the same team again as with the parents. Let the boy continue his dislike for gangs. Let him watch his little friends die again and nurture that hate. My theory on this needs to be tested anyway, "It's easier to corrupt an idealistic person and mold them then one who is morally gray.
Date: April 5th 199X The swede once again came through with flying colors. The boy hid in a closet and watched all of his friends cut down. The Swede even through in some line about the boy's pathetic little gang being on their turf. Brilliant. Of Course the man knew the kid was in the closet, but didn't let on. Good. The boy can think he got away. On another side note we had the cop in place to be the first on the scene, what was his name? Caleb? No matter, he's got no idea of our presence. His psych eval was right on the money, he's already pushing to take the kid. The guy's Johnny Do-Good, it'll influence young Patrick in the way that we want, until we cut that cord too of course."
"Fucker," the annoyed word rolled off Patrick's tongue. He had been assuming that the gang thing was a stage ever since Kevala had told him his folks had been assassins but it was still kind of a shock reading it. He knew that this "Swede" and his team were the ones that killed his parents and his gang of orphans, he had just never known that they were a hit squad. Well, he still didn't know that for sure, but if his parents were supposedly well sought after assassins, these had to be a legitimate hit squad, and a relatively good one too. No street gang should be able to take assassins of the caliber that Kevala had described out with the ease that Patrick remembered them killing his parents with.
Although Patrick really wasn't angry. It was weird. Yeah, he was annoyed that all this had happened. That his life had been a sham. But the Swede had to be dead, along with his team. And well the Doctor was dead, he seemed to have been the driving force. While Patrick knew that there were others that had allowed this to go on, it seemed like the major players were taken care of. Maybe not but still, the key pieces that kept him from living his own life were gone. And he had the only records of his "guilt". He didn't know for sure, not yet but he felt like he had a real chance to live out his Parent's dream. For them, for himself. And while he didn't know his parents, what they were like, or even if they wanted it but still. Being around Kazumi had helped Patrick understand the importance of family. That being said, he couldn't help but feel that his parent's dream was to live out normal lives, and for their son to not have theirs. Patrick didn't understand it, but he was beginning to have the desire to carry out their, to this point, unrealized dream...

Kazumi read over the file, her brow raising slightly as she did so, even leaning in a little bit to make sure that she was reading it all right. She had no clue about his parents, or about the cop that was described in this file....Hell, he had been rather vague about his entire childhood for that matter, so everything she was reading was completely new information to her and to be honest, it was a bit disturbing.
Biting her lip, she would continue to read until she got near the end, hearing him speak in that rather annoyed tone. She could tell that it wasn't exactly hurting him but annoyance was more than evident. Still...for her the thought of having her family killed, and then having the only people she had known taken in the same manner.....it was horrifying to say the least. But then, she had been raised in a very close nit, albeit strange, family and so she knew exactly what she would have been missing out on. So yeah, it held more impact for her.
Softly, she would shift to lean back into her original spot, once more taking to nuzzling against the side of his neck affectionately and lightly tracing her fingers over his chest. "Baby...." She would pause for a moment, allowing herself to think up what she wanted to say. Eventually deciding to pull back just a bit so that she could look at him, her hand once more lifting so that her finger could slowly trace along the scar on his face. She had never really asked where it came from and though she had gathered it happened when he was a child, she had never wanted to pry....but now..."Where did this come from?"
She was hesitant to ask, but she figured that now was as good a time as any, her finger finishing in its usual path before she would lean in and softly press her lips against his cheek, drawing in a deep breath of his scent. Her hand resting against his opposite cheek, simply allowing him that touch that was always so reassuring and gentle.
Now, if he chose to tell her, or if he did not, was entirely up to him, but after a moment, to allow him to decide which it would be, she would shift so that she could flip open to another place in his files...figuring that they might as well keep going since they had already started. Eyes scanning over the file and a little wince hitting her seeing the name of the girl that he still had so much trouble over.....Zea.
She would pause, hand moving to slowly close the file, not sure he wanted to revisit that night since he seemed to do so almost every night of his life since....Figuring she didn't need to know the details, and just supposing it would be easier to skip that part.....Instead opting to move on to another....which she could only imagine what it held....

Patrick knew it wasn't quite as emotional a reaction as she would have liked, or expected but Patrick had dealt with that a long time ago. Death had just been a way of life for him at a very young age. It had effected him more then, but now, now was just different. Although he knew that what probably would have bothered Kazumi the most was that these people were supposed to be family and were killed. And more over that he wasn't really broken up about it, not anymore at least. His parent's death, that probably bothered him the least now, if only because he didn't know them at all. It was the night he had gotten his scar that she loved to touch so much. So when she did, asking him where it came from Patrick would answer.
"I was three," Patrick said, "I remember I was three and I was walking through the park with my parents. I didn't know their names until today. Seamus and Marybeth apparently. Any way we were walking home, I think, through the park. When were were stopped by I gang I thought. Apparently though, it was this Swede and his group. They killed my parents, I remember holding my mom's hand as she died. And then they decided it would be fun or funny to mark me. I didn't flinch when they cut me, probably saved the eye. I just remember holding on to my mom's hand even though I knew she was gone. And after it was done. I stood there, until they were out of sight. Then I ran. I ran and I ran until I passed out. When I woke up I was with the orphans."
It was kind of implied that it was his first memory here. Simply because it was the only thing her remembered of his parents, and he didn't know their names. They didn't really get the chance to make that much of an impact on him. Something he decided long ago meant that he didn't have to feel anything for that and that reflected in his voice about the situation. Though after a pause he figured he should add that in, for Kazumi's sake, "I don't really feel too much about that anymore because I never knew them. That's the only memory I have of them. They were never invested into my life other then they were murdered. Not that they chose to, but I decided a long time ago that it was pointless to feel for people that I never really knew. Seemed unhealthy, I dunno"
After a few moments had passed and whatever response had Patrick would see as she started to open a file, only to wince in what looked like pain, before closing it. Patrick had caught the name though. With a frown Patrick would stop her from putting the file back saying, "I need to see this, all of it. For closure, so i'm not constantly wondering what he did and didn't do in my life. It's what yer mother wanted."
With that he'd open the file:
"Date December 12 20XX Location: New York City Okay this has gone on long enough. The boy has stopped killing mobsters, as was the agreement with that Conrad and Zea. Straight as an arrow too. It was a lot easier to get that information now that he's lived in a stable area for awhile. Still though, while his ability to deny his natural talents is impressive to an almost legendary level, it is still troubling. Could this all be in vain? Could he just be too strong willed? I think not. Perhaps he needs one more push over the edge. I'll be sending that [insert name] family the information tonight. The evidence they need to connect O'Connor as the Angel of Death and the best way to lure him out. I have no doubt that our prized killer will be able to walk away. It's the girl I'm not to sure of."
"Hmph," was all Patrick could say. No, not out of concern for Kazumi's feeling but because her really didn't know how he felt. It stung, that it was the doctor all along, for almost everyone. That sting was evidence in his voice but there was more there. It almost seemed like he was okay with that? No, maybe not that. But at ease? There was solace maybe? Perhaps. He had after all just killed the man. He wasn't sure though. The only thing he was sure about was that it didn't hurt nearly as much as he thought that it would. Whatever that meant...

Kazumi would sit there and listen as he explained about the scar, her brow furrowing slightly and a look of complete and utter disbelief flashing across her eyes. It was hard for her to imagine that somebody would want to do that to a child, especially after they had killed his parents right in front of him. It was even harder to believe that they would just murder a family like that...Because even though Patrick had survived, the family was dead, was it not? The dynamic of it at least.
Not sure what to say, she would simply let him finish, explaining how he had learned long ago not to hold onto the pain of losing his parent's because he never really knew them. Nodding a bit though her eyes would drop away from his for a moment. "I guess I can understand that....Aiden and I never knew our Father, only that he had told Mother he loved her and left her when he found out about us....I have never even seen a picture of him, which is very strange since Mother has pictures of almost everyone from her past." She shrugged, her hand coming up and fingers twisting a lock of her hair about, clearly not very comfortable with the topic, though to be honest, she had never even mentioned her Father before today....For her, it had always been that she had two moms and that was just how she liked it.....But yeah, didn't mean she didn't always wonder. "I don't feel pain because he is gone...I feel it because I never got to know him. I don't get to know if I have his smile or if Aiden has his laugh...I don't get to know if I got any of his weird traits or if Aiden talks like him or acts like him...I hurt because I was robbed of ever knowing..." She sighed, clearly not suggesting that he should feel the same, but figuring that if he was going to open up to her on such a deeper level then she should at least attempt to do the same with what little she remembered and what little she had not already told him.
Then as the focus shifted to the file, she would glance up at him hesitantly. She was worried, not about her own feelings, but about him and how he would handle it. She honestly didn't know and she just wanted to make sure he was going to be okay. But when he insisted she would simply nod and curl up against him once more, nuzzling into his chest as she read over the now open file.
When she was done, she would wait, not even realizing she was holding her breath until she heard him finally make a sound. A little wince given as she noted the hint of stinging pain that edged that single little sound he created and then instantly shifting to lightly brush her lips against his own for a moment before pulling back and whispering lightly upon his lips. "I love you baby....with all my heart and soul...." Not entirely sure why she felt the need to say that at that particular moment, but she did just the same. Though even as she heard that pain she also heard something else, she just wasn't entirely sure what it was...so for now, she chose to let it go, figuring that if anything it was something going on inside of him that he was still trying to sort out for himself.....
Her nose ever so slightly brushing against his before she would pull away and once again nestle down into his lap, pulling up yet another file for them to read over....Not sure she could stand much more of learning how horrible these people had been to him his whole life...That part of her that loved him and wished to protect him hating the fact that there was nothing she could do to make it go away.....Because naturally, her response would be to want to take whatever pain they had caused him away. It was just a simple fact of loving somebody she supposed.
