Well, she would have written down her answers, but she ended up being a little slow in doing so. Not that it really bothered her all that much, moving to take a seat to the right of where Cael was seated and placing her bag on her desk....Leaning her body slightly to the side she would speak up so that only he could hear her as the rest of the class jostled about trying to figure out what to write down and making quite a bit of noise getting back to their seats. "I have a little present for you by the way." She grinned the rather devious little grin and would then right herself back into her chair.
Those oddly colored eyes facing forward as she listened to the teacher explain the items. She had at least been right in what she had said, or so she thought, but as the next question was posed, she would purse her lips slightly and debate upon what answer would be the best. "The Celtic cross with the symbol of the sun upon it. That one is the most powerful of those four items." She would pause there, waiting a moment before she would begin to explain her reasons behind this.
"The others are simply a means of defense or weapons, powerful in their time and very useful. But in this day and age, though still rather useful under the right circumstances, they are not nearly as powerful as they would have been during those times. The Celtic cross however, is a symbol, and as such it withstands the test of time, does not become out dated or forgotten. It is still used in many religious sects and still holds a great deal of power behind what it symbolizes." She shrugged. It was her opinion on the matter and she was more than ready to be shot down for what she said, but that was the beauty of an opinion, everyone was entitled to one.

With the arrival of two more students to the class, and fashionably late no less, Shane would acknowledge their arrival with a quick glance their way, but nothing else. He somehow had a feeling these two were probably categorized into the popular clique, you know, THAT type of clique. Shane was probably located somewhere between the other type of popular clique and punk clique.
Cliques aside, after voicing his thoughts and rushing back to his desk like his life depended on it, once he had finished writing his answers down, Shane rose up out of his seat and would wait for Michael and Cynara to finish before collecting their papers and taking it to the front and handing them to Mr. Warden, returning to his seat afterwards.
Grinning slightly to himself, aside from the Celtic Cross, which he only had a vague knowledge of, he had been correct in his answers. Shae would frown slightly at the next question, but not like he was annoyed at Mr. Warden, more like he was pondering his answer, as one of the late students, a girl, gave her answer.
"She has a point,"
Shane would begin, gesturing over at Aryanna, but that wasn't his answer.
"But I think the crossbow is the most powerful of the four items. Sure when you get down to it, it's a weapon and powerful when it was first introduced, but not only has it been re-made using modern materials, it is still being used to this day, whether for hunting, leisure, or to obtain blubber biopsy samples for scientific research."
There were other uses that the crossbow was equipped and used for, but those were mainly military applications, and something that very few would know of, Shane NOT being one of those few. Shane would casually shrugged, that was his two cents worth, maybe people would agree, maybe they would disagree, an opinion's an opinion.

She listened to the two answers that were given, a bit surprised by the fact that the dark haired girl was able to come up with something so logical and reasonable. She just didn't strike Cynara as the type.
Still, she waited until she thought there was room to speak and would hesitantly raise her hand to draw attention to herself. "I..I think those are both really good answers. But...um...I would have to agree with..with the cross being the most powerful...." She didn't elaborate on it, because she was already having enough issues speaking up in class, nervously biting her lower lip she would glance down at her desk and then back toward the teacher. She felt compelled to say something else . She just wasn't sure exactly how to phrase it.
"I...I mean, I think that...the crossbow is powerful...But, I have to question if just because it can kill something, does that really make it the more powerful of all the items? I mean....why...why does power have to be judged on how much damage something can cause?" She instantly felt her cheeks heat up as she blushed and quickly turned back to her notebook on her desk. Not bothering to say another word or looking at Michael, cause she was pretty sure she had just made a complete dork out of herself. Gah! Why did he have to make her so nervous!?

"I have a little present for you by the way."
"Oh?" Cael would grin slowly leaning into her keeping his peripherals still locked on that budunkadunk. Otherwise they'd be staring down the front of Aryanna's chest casually flitting upwards to her eyes as though to keep composure of his gentlemanly behavior.
Hearing the responses however he considered stepping in at least a little bit to contribute to the class's direction.
"The Shield, it beats out all of them and can be used promptly to attire banners or castes of lineage and chivalry."
Once more he'd return his glance back to Aryanna letting a hand come to cradle his skull in a limp hand and grip the base of her chin inclining the girl up. "Do tell this present, I'm not a fan of secrets."

Patrick watched everything unfold before him, listening to the answers of the class mulling things over in his head. He knew what the teacher was trying to do. Spark conversation, discussion. The point being that there was no right answer in its entirety. Smart, Patrick would have to give him that one at least. At least as far as the whole teaching theory went. As much as Patrick would rather just sit back and zone out he figured that not participating would adversely effect his chances of passing the class. So with a sigh he'd speak up.
"All the objects are powerful in their own right," Patrick said, "All the objects represent the advancement of their time. I would say the celtic cross, simply because the idea behind the necklace ye have has rallied people then and today to do many things, however if we're talking about the objects as opposed to the ideas behind them I would have to disagree because ye could put the celtic cross on the shield to represent the same thing, just on a practical object. If we're talking objects I'm going with the crossbow because it was one of the first steps in making the heavy armor of the time obsolete by being able to punch through it. Otherwise the idea behind the necklace is still the furthest reaching and most powerful of the lot of em."
Patrick would sigh again, putting his chin back in his hand and wait for class to be over...

"THE CROSSBOW DUH!"
Michael would say blatantly slapping the desk in a furious manner knowing the answer for sure this time, what could the others do that the crossbow couldn't? That's right nothing because if you thought you could get away with manipulating the other fuuu-shwink-pow! Arrow to the knee.
Michael froze up though however not providing a response as he presumed that the others were staring at him for his outburst and would just as quickly sink down into his seat and pull his lapels around his neck trying to cover himself up as much as possible.

Alistair had said Most Powerful, now what was important was the derivement of the word power. What did that mean as a whole, control of people, influence, force? It was now much more like a game of ethics to be played out in the classroom but for this little experiment Ali would keep it simple make it a discussion of sorts to be played out throughout the classroom, he always hated those definite answers gifted to his students and like to spur an out of the box mindset.
Aryanna answered first, the Cross. Quite an intellectual response that perked a grin at his cheeks very wide. Out of the group here it would be the first option he'd pick as well. Religion afterall was thought of to spark most wars and keep them going over centuries of evolution to thier current peak, even now people fought wars over which God stood at the top of the pecking order. Any day now Tom Cruise and his fanatics would demand a portion of silicon valley to be called "holy land".
Shane next, The crossbow. Aptly the most implied by force and the first of many modern weapons. It applied the wide distribution of factory made assests as it were giving birth to an industrial age of machinary, not to mention the ability to hold down a person's will and abdicate their choice by threats. Michael apt to agree with the boy, to an obnoxiously loud extent.
Cael however would mention the shield dictating that a solid defense and the utility of a standard being fashioned into the argument just as powerful as any cross being mentioned. So his implication was to attack the other ideals and buff up his own in oh so few words.
Alistair would nod and listen idly bobbing his head as he passed up and down the aisles listening to them make their arguments before Patrick made a point to delegate to all of them. Minus the Vambraces that was.
"So which is it Mr. O'Connor?"
Ali would laugh genuinely moving to the front of the room before leaning his back into the desk there.
"All very good points indeed, however, if there is anything I want you to take from this class it is that power is all but an illusion."
He would grin before waving a hand over the objects pulling forth a sheet over them and then once the sheet had passed fully over the objects to the point they should have been unveiled they would suddenly disappear without a trace.
"Pull out your textbooks and open to page ninty-six; now can anyone tell me the tale of Julius Caesar and if possible the reasons for Rome's descent?"
He liked this discussion class, it served a dual purpose. Knowing his students and getting them to think about more than just these four walls.

She would grin at the other's answers, though just as quickly as she had been pulled into the class, or at least her attention had I should say, it was ripped away by the hand that came to grip her chin, pulling her gaze upward toward Cael's once more.
A little tilt of her head, as much as was allowed by the way his hand currently held to her, her body inclining inward toward him so that her words could fall more softly this time, not privy to anyone else's ears. "I bought you something actually...Something that will make sure your little Margaret does not forget her proper place..." She purred the words forth in that soft French accent, those eyes alight with mischief and delight as she held the grin firmly in place upon her lips.
A slight shift of her head, pulling her chin from within his grasp only to allow her lips to ever so slightly brush against the tips of his fingers."I figured it would add a bit of fun to the game if you could actually mark which one's belonged to you..." Which ones? Yes, Aryanna knew all too well that little Margaret would not be the last in a line of girls that he would have bending to his every whim....In fact, she intended to assist in making sure of this....But for now, she had only bought one of these "presents" due to the fact that she had to ensure that he liked it. After all, there would be no point in decorating his little toys if he didn't like the ornaments. Right?
Hearing the teacher again speaking, she would pull back to sit right in her chair, one last glance cast toward him. "There is an empty classroom on the third floor that currently is going unused....If you will be so kind as to meet me there after class, I will give it to you.....Along with a little..personal gift..." A slightly suggestive wink given before turning back to her book and opening it to the required page. Attention once more being focused upon the class and the lesson at hand.

With everyone giving their answers, well, some going for a simpler approach than others, though in Patrick's case, he decided to delegate, Mr. Warden had a very valid point. Power was but an illusion, it had many definitions, it all depended on which point of view you decided to look at it from. A sheet pulled over the items, which appeared to disappear into thin air, Shane would pull out his textbook and open it to the page instructed.
"Julius Caesar was a Roman general that played a critical role in effectively transforming the Roman Republic into an Empire. He was brilliant strategist, but he wanted to control Rome under a single head of power, which led to his downfall and assassination by a group of senators led by Marcus Brutus. The senators did not foresee the effects Caesar's death had on the citizens however, they rebelled and wanted the senators heads, for they had loved Caesar."
As for reasons for Rome's descent, Shane would let someone else answer it, he wasn't the only egghead in the class after all.

Michael was quick after the fact to bury his head in his books and shut the bloody fuck up. And with Michael stuffed away within the page of the book he was inclined to open up to there would be several accounts of steady dull thuds against the wood table casually signaling his abuse of his cranium.
*Bang - Bang - Bang - Bang*
He'd quickly realize that the sound was rather loud and reduce himself to silently banging it enough so that even he barely heard the resonating of it but still a very steady reminder that he had been a clear idiot in the matter and needed to subtly punish himself.
*Bang - Bang - Bang*
Even at the mention of Julius Caesar the boy would resist stepping up for he feared that in an uneasy response that would be blurted out would get him in trouble or get him essentially in a bad standing with his peers.
"Gay butt-sex
SHIT!
Another loud thud of his head into the desk like an idiot before covering his mouth this time. If it wasn't already obvious enough now he'd made it very clear.

Cael snickered at Aryanna's playful demeanor at the perspective of all the little people around this school's parts. She probably viewed its inhabitants as little more than toys, at least that was the quick development he'd been assimilating to her persona. But what did that make him? A toy? He hated the thought of having been put into that position of simply being just a little plaything of hers, in which case he had to ascertain dominance to a degree that no one else could. Leaverage.
"I'll be there,"
A cool wink before turning his attention up to the class just as Mr. Warden played his little magic trick. A parlor trick as far as Cael was concerned but he didn't believe in magic anyways, the opinion on power however was interestin. He hadted to admit it but he kinda liked this teacher despite his height.
"Rome's descent wasn't dependant on the rule of the Emperor's or the Senate but rather on the people themselves. Rome overextended itself dramatically and after a time couldn't keep the Empire together and fell under crumbling pressure from other birthing nations and ideologies that sprung from its loins."

Power was an illusion? Now Patrick disagreed with that. Power was substantial, significantly. Though Patrick was the first to admit that power was fleeting, temporary, no matter how vast or how strong. Power could be averted too, if the opponent was smart. No, power wasn't an illusion, not as strong a foundation as everyone seemed to thing, but it was in fact, well, power to say the least. But to say that it was ultimately an illusion, not so much.
The teacher asked them to open their books and well, that was the awkward part. Patrick looked like the bad student already. Truth was, he didn't have a book. He had been registered for classes late, and so he was pretty sure he missed the whole first day here's your book thing. So Patrick would raise his hand, when acknowledged or seen he would say, "Teach, I never got a book. Think with the whole late registration thing, I missed the memo or the day."
The teacher's question about the fall of the roman empire. That was a topic Patrick would keep his mouth shut on. He wasn't about to say anything unless he had something significant to say. Oh, he was sure he had some factors that contributed to Rome's fall, but nothing solid. They were little more then guesses for Patrick, though he was somewhat confident that they were right, he just couldn't explain how they were significant...

She stayed silent for the most part, a little brow arched at the way that Michael was slamming his head into the desk over and over again. She thought to say something, but as soon as she opened her mouth to, she thought better of it and quickly closed it again....Though she kept those silver looking eyes upon him as she shifted a bit in her seat.
It wasn't until he had stopped, and she heard what he had said, that she finally manged to make a nose, a little giggle escaping her quickly followed by a small snort of laughter. She had found his comment all too funny, though she was quick to put her hand over her mouth to try and stifle back the sound of her laughter, knowing that it was far from appropriate at this point.
Instead she would quickly turn her eyes toward the boy that had moved to sit behind her, surprised, honestly, by the fact that he knew what the heck he was talking about...He just didn't seem the type. Then a glance cast toward the dark haired girl he had been paying so much attention to, noting her eyes once more and then quickly turning away and focusing instead upon her book.

"Standard Mr. Westley but it shall do," Alistair was looking for something that wasn't what you could easily find off of wikipedia but still how could he expect as much from blooming high school students who probably didn't have much else to worry about other than their steadily crawling popularity.
"Gay butt-sex
<_<
Alistair would shift his brows to the boy who probably suffered from some degree of tourettes at this point. There was only one other explaination that he could come up with to help the poor kid out.
"No Mr. Cypren, in fact one of Rome's finest battalions was led by a purely homosexual battalion. The source of their strength was the bonds of lovers, when your lover died on the field it would send the other into a feral bloodrage."
Poor Kid.
"Excellent Mr. Seran, but perhaps a bit more next time still missing the bulk of the issue. Rome did overextend itself but it was because they were centralized into a singular empire. To the point that when they failed to administer an Eastern Capital the Empire crumpled in upon itself becoming what was known as The Holy Roman Empire, The Byzantine Empire, The Austrian Empire, France, the Germanic and Prussian tribes. Granted all of this took place over years and years of poor upkeep."
Alistair would only stop his excitable rant as Patrick spoke up or rather rose his hand to make a point. Late registration and all.
"Alright then, I'll give you a pass for now but please move up and share with a classmate."
He'd point out at the row infront of him where Cael and Aryanna seemed all cuddly and whispery. That'd break it up another kid thrown into the pot. And if things went badly he knew which little clique was at fault.
"Alright then since we seem to be on the discussion of Rome. Name me a Roman Emperor and what they are known for."
He was personally waiting hastily on Calligula.

Shane couldn't help but cock an eyebrow at Michael slamming his head repeatedly into his desk, he really had no idea what the guy was trying to do, besides giving himself a headache the size of Texas and denting the poor desk. Snickering to himself, at least he wasn't the only one that found it hilarious, Cynara having let out a little giggle and then a small snort of laughter.
With only one other person giving an answer, the guy sitting behind Cynara, everyone else either busy making after school plans or dates or whatever, or informing Mr. Warden about lacking a textbook, or trying to knock themselves out, his answer may have been standard, but at least he had tried, and it was better than nothing.
Homosexual legionnaires aside, Shane would think a little on his answer for the next question, before raising his hand and answering.
"Caligula. He was a noble and moderate ruler during his first two years of reign, and was well loved by the people not just because he was the son of a well-loved general, but also for being generous, however political it was in nature, but it all went to hell in a handbasket afterwards.
He ended up becoming known for his cruelty, for he killed prisoners for mere amusement, extravagance, since he focused on ambitious construction projects and notoriously luxurious dwellings for himself, and sexual perversity, having been accused of sleeping with other men's wives and bragging about it.
He did however, initiate the construction of two new aqueducts in Rome, and improved the harbors in Rome. He also completed the temple of Augustus and the theatre of Pompey and began an amphitheater beside the Saepta. Sure he did more harm than good during his short reign, but there's no deny he did quite a bit to help Rome."
Shane casually shrugged, only reason he knew about Caligula in the first place was because he had watched the show "Ancients Behaving Badly" last night on The Discovery Channel. Tonight they were showing Genghis Khan.
