Okay, so I know that activity has been pretty low as of late, and while I know most are busy with the end of school coming up and what not, so it's pretty understandable, it'd also be nice if we could get some members too. So after mulling over some stuff, I figured why not post up the suggestions that were thought up? Now, I am not criticizing staff or members or the like, I just really want this XIN board to succeed, and not die. - Weekly Events: Okay, now I noticed on Paradigm, the weekly missions/events bolstered activity greatly, and also kept people interested. Now, I know it's not as easy for this board, we can't just suddenly have bad guys pop up and we take them down. However, we could have others forms of events, such as people getting kidnapped and have all their belongings taken, and they have to figure out how to escape, or school trips, or something, y'know?
- Rival schools: This is pretty straightforward, once in a while, a rival school shows up to stir up some trouble.
- Tournaments: Now I don't know how many fighters we honestly have on the board, yes, we have the fight club classes, but this could be more of a underground sort of thing, y'know?
Really, I just want people's thoughts and opinions on this, and maybe some other suggestions, that's all.

Uhm agree/disagree to an extent.
Weekly events, I don't exactly agree with this mainly just because we're slow as is. Having an event that just moves too fast for some people to keep up with is very exclusive. However I do like the thing that you and Sarah are doing on the quest character entering threads and either incorporating that into a future quest and otherwise forcing interest here and there at an even pace.
Rival Schools, I agree although this requires us as RPers to take on a greater understanding and potential for NPCs, I totally want this involved in the system for things like sports, quests etc. I love the idea to be honest but its going to require all of us to step up and pull some weight.
Tournaments, Again I think if you want an underground thing someone icly may have to step up to do this. I think that potentially we may want to organize a quarterly tournament every now and again which may be cool.
I'll probs add summore ideas to this later when I'm not in a rush. But good plans Lloyd, Im sure that we can all work to get things like this started.

I agree with both of you to be honest. Lloyd I really like your plot ideas, but I agree with Ryan. Weekly events seem like they have the real potential to be exclusive because of their speed and would perhaps serve to work against us and growth, but to be honest I don't know. Would weekly events mean xp gains or what? because that wouldn't be favorable in my opinion, i know older ppl will have more stats but that would inflate stats too quick i think.
But yeah, all the plot ideas are cool, but like ryan said everyone would need to step it up to get it done.

I do like the random quest characters popping in here and there without real restrictions, I mean serves as a real motivating factor at least on my end.

Well, I can't take all the credit for the ideas, they were actually brainstormed between Brandon and I.
And I can see what you guys mean by the pace of weekly events, on Paradigm, the missions/events require that you stay at your computer for at least two hours, or you will miss out on things. I really doubt any of us want to be doing that here.
Rival schools, well obviously staff (or non-staff) would be playing them, but it's not they'd appear every single week, more like popping in every once in a while.
Tournaments, yeah, we'd really have to take the initiative and get it started, I know you were thinking of doing something like that on 259, Ryan, with the whole secret gang and all, maybe we could still do that, but on here?
So yeah, keep on coming with the opinions and suggestions guys.

Haha yeah Rival schools I mean I could definitely formulate a few schools and make standard NPC's for people to take up during school events something like I did in the quest but more kinda like first grab first serve dealio.
Weekly events, I know I may not be able to do too much on this end with work starting this Monday. I'm sure other people have similar contributions to make. Maybe if we do decide to do this we make use of a changing schedule, I know on Paradigm it was like every Sunday or something like that. Maybe instead of just Sunday where some people may be busy we change the day up each week like once on Sunday, once on Wednesday perhaps to give everyone a chance at at least one.
As the Tourneys I'd say we can have staff run quarterly for sure but if we want to run an underground one its up to someone to run. =p

Alright guys, I like all the ideas, I really do. However I do have my concerns on the whole Weekly Event thing. I agree that it really requires people to be able to step up and commit time to being able to take part in them. If you want to try and run one as sort of a test run Lloyd then by all means you are free to do so, once you submit to me the idea you have for it and what you wish to accomplish with it. Though my part will be to simply approve the idea. If you wish to run it, then I would expect for you to schedule it at a time that everyone else is capable of being able to RP it out and so on and so forth.
Honestly, I am not comfortable committing to such an idea until I see some effort put forth by you guys as far as RPing goes, in general. As of late, the only real threads that I have seen most people be active in are those in which they gain EXP. Not much in the way of story development has even been attempted with the exception of a few here and there.
In order for a weekly event to work on a regular basis, it means that people would have to put forth more effort into getting things done. Step it up. All that good stuff.
Another point I would like to address concerning these, is that I agree fully with Pat on the matter of weekly events/exp gain. I think that he is correct in his assumption that it would cause a serious bout of inflation and I am not going to allow for that. I can perhaps come up with some kind of reward system for those who do manage to do well in these events and who take place and commit to them, though I honestly think, at this point I do not think that rewards of any great magnitude would be a good idea.
Now, as for the other ideas, I am on board with those as long as a system can be made to make sure that they work and what not. But I agree that if any of it is going to have to work, people are going to have to actually put effort into seeing that these things get done. This is not to say that I will not help where needed and what not....I am simply saying that if it is constantly left up to me to handle every single thing that goes on then it gives you guys absolutely no room to step up and create your own stories and plots....
So whatever ideas you guys come up with, just run them by me, and as usual, I doubt I will have any real problem with anything so long as it is fair.
So think that covers everything for now. Great ideas that you guys got going though. The more the merrier as far as I am concerned. Keep it up!
