She hurt, and for Azura that meant that it was a pain so intense that it would kill most normal people. Or, at the very least, land them in a coma or something. But then she always felt this way after she died and reawakened. It took her a day or two to recover and for those two days she could not help but lay in bed and wish that she had stayed dead this time. Why couldn't she just stay dead?
Well, she knew the answer. She was not really alive. She was an angel...or so they said. She had died in order to obtain her Qi and so she would forever live with this curse, which was all that it was to be honest. Yet, she bared it without too much complaint outwardly to others.
In fact, they were not supposed to be testing those drugs on her anymore. But when she had gotten back to the lab after school today, they had been preparing to go and take Raven, to test on him. Unlike her, he had not been recommended for the non-testing phase, and so he was still fair game. Yet, like she had done for the past few years, ever since the experiment that had cost him his mind, she had rushed in and volunteered to take the drug instead.
It was not a hard argument to make, seeing as how they knew they could test anything they wished on her without killing her, well, without killing her permanently. She always came back, even when they broke her body beyond repair, even when they destroyed her so completely....she came back. She would always come back. She would always be what she was now...having been trapped in this form for so many years now that she had lost count.
Laying in bed, her flesh pale compared to what it would usually look like, she did not dare move, knowing that the pain would only get worse. Tear stains streaked down her cheeks and the sides of her face and her vibrant red hair laid pooled upon the pillow beneath her head. She was wearing a simple white gown, not a hospital gown but one of her own....In fact, her entire room was white. Not by their choice, but by her own. She loved the color, for it felt as pure as she felt deep down inside. Actually, the only color that filled the room right now, besides her bright red locks, were those black wings which laid beneath her on the bed. She didn't even have the energy to retract them back into her flesh....no, they just laid there practically covering the expanse of her bed, cradling her little form as she trembled and tried desperately not to cry out.
The pain was worth it. That drug would have killed Raven. Knowing that, she could never regret having stepped in and taken it for him....nor would she. She would suffer anything to ensure that he was left alone for the rest of his life. No matter what it took.

Outside of Azura's room, the sounds of loud stomping could be heard, shaking the floor of the facility with each step taken. The giant hulking form of Raven clomping his way down the hallway, towards her room, the door would open and be ripped off its hinges... or it would've, had not everything in the facility been Raven-proofed. Which meant, reinforced everything.
His perpetually angry eyes casting around the pure white room, they would land on the broken and pained form of his literal guardian angel, and a guttural roar would issue from the enraged Raven. Charging into her room, his arms flailing above his head and generally look like a dancing gorilla, the sight would be quite hilarious, if not for the little fact that Raven was about as happy as a fly trapped in a spider's web.
Falling to his knees beside her bed, or in his case, drop to his knees and shake the entire floor, he'd reach out and pick her up with surprising gentleness, cradling her in his arms like a mother carrying her baby.
"Why...? They hurt you... I don't want you to be hurt..."

She felt the vibrations coming through the floor and she would wince slightly. She didn't want him to see her this way, it was never good. Yet she knew that she did not have the strength to hide it from him nor did she have the ability to stop him. So, soon enough, he would appear within her room, those pale hazel eyes, lacking that usual light that shone within them, settling upon his figure as he looked down upon her and let out that enraged and rather terrifying roar. Well, terrifying to almost anyone else but her.
No, she would not flinch or even feel the slightest bit of fear as he started to storm about, her heart breaking at the rage he felt, knowing she could only do so much to make it better. Yet she would push her hand into the bed, trying so hard to lift herself upward only to collapse back down, her wings catching her, though she would still issue a little cry of pain.
Then, he was beside her, falling to the floor and shaking everything within her room as he did so, his massive hands coming forth to gently pick her up, cradling her against him as he spoke. Softly, she would make a gentle shushing sound with her lips, her small hand, trembling and weak, would lift upward so that she could press it against the side of his face. "It is alright. I asked for this Raven." Her eyes closing as she would allow her head to softly rest against him, sighing. "They wanted to hurt you again...so I told them to hurt me instead. Just like the last time, remember?"
It didn't make it right, and she knew that. But that was why she was trying to free them from this place, from this nightmare.

Seeing Azura try to lift herself up with a monumental amount of effort, only to collapse back down and hear her let out a little cry of pain, his brain may have been destroyed, but his heart was still very much complete, and not only did his rage intensify ten-fold, but his heart broke seeing her like this. Rushing to her side and down on his knees, he'd hold her against him, letting out a sound akin to a wounded animal as she tried to sooth him like a mother would to her crying baby, one of his massive hands reaching up and gently encompassing her small hand pressed against the side of his face.
"I... I don't want you to be like this!"
Seeing her eyes closing and her head resting against his bare chest, his other massive arm easily carrying her tiny frame, he'd sit down on the floor, which meant he just flopped down before lying down on the floor, Azura held gently on top of him and the sleeves on his wrists covering her like a blanket. He dared not lie on her bed, because he was afraid he'd demolish her bed.
"You always... take the hurt for me... I not happy to see you hurt..."
Just everything in Azura's room, which was white, including her clothing, so to, did Raven were white, his pants, sleeves, even his helmet, was white. However, unlike Azura, who loved the color, Raven wore white simply because of his pure, innocent love for his guardian angel, and a constant reminder of the shining light of hope she had given him.
"I... I want you to be free... my Angel..."

Azura would try her best to refrain from letting any sounds of discomfort or unease leave her lips as he plopped himself back onto the floor. The trembling of her little hand ceasing just slightly as she felt his much larger one encompass it. Though, as he shifted to lay back, she could not help but let out a soft little whimper, biting the inside of her cheek to keep it from becoming a full out cry of agony.
His rather large arms surrounding her, her wings would fold just enough as not to be crushed by his grip...not that he would ever intentionally hurt her, just that they did tend to get in the way at times. However once she had managed to situate them just right, she would allow herself to rest against him, fiery locks pooling upon his chest and shrouding her face from view as she let out a soft sigh at his words. "I know you don't, but I will be better in a couple days. It would have killed you if they had tested on you."
A clear and very evident sound of pain and regret edging her words at the thought of such a thing. She had been older when he was brought here, not much different than the way she looked now, and she had been there through every test, every experiment. They may have been able to Raven proof this place but they could not Azura proof it. But then, they knew the one thing that kept her here was him and her inability to get him out. Yet.
"I cannot let you die Raven. I just can't." Her words soft as she tried her best to rest, though she would not sleep, she hardly ever slept. Not that she didn't want to, she just never seemed to get tired anymore. Not even when she was like this. She supposed it was just another freaky side effect from her, or better yet, from what she was.
Her attention once more pulled toward him as he spoke of her being free, a weak smile able to curl upon those perfectly formed lips as she rested her hand against his chest and nodding just slightly. "I wish for you to be free as well. Remember how I promised you that I would get you out of here?" A hint of excitement, however faint gracing her tone. It had taken her years of blood, sweat, tears and insurmountable pain to get to this point and now, she could actually see the end in sight, could actually feel the freedom so close that she could just reach out and take it. Not just for her, but for both of them.
"Those kids at that school are going to help us...they just don't know it yet. They will help or I will raze that school to the ground along with everyone inside of it." She was not a violent person, she hated it actually and he above all others would know that.....but she was also a determined, strong willed woman who set her sights on something and stopped at nothing to make it hers.....and right now, her main goal was their freedom.
Though she honestly did not want to burden his mind with such things. No, she would handle it, as she had been and always would....he didn't need such stress. "Tell me, what story would you like to hear? I will tell you any one of them you wish." Speaking softly, still very weak but her main focus, as always, upon his happiness and making sure he was okay. "I know, how about the one on how I came to be? You like that one don't you?" She spoke with not a hint of deception or guilt in her voice, even though the story she had told him since he was a child was an outright lie. It had just been something that she used to sooth him at night after the doctors and scientists had finished with him, and to this day it usually seemed to work.

A pained expression appearing on Raven's face hearing Azura let out a soft little whimper, he tried his best to avoid shifting her around and causing her pain while carrying her, but his massive size and frame made any cautious movements he made turn into huge, jerky movements. Restraint, was not part of Raven's physical state, sadly.
"But...! If I tested on, that meant you would no have to go through this pain! If I die... you no longer suffer like this! I...! I will no leave your side, until you better!"
His arms gently wrapping more around Azura and holding closer to him, his head bowed and eyes shut tightly in sadness and pain, feeling her hand rest against his bare chest, his own body would shake not in pain, but in fear, almost as if he was afraid that if he let go of her, she'd disappear forever.
"I... I remember. If I have to smash those kids to get them to help us, I will. I won't let no one hurt you ever again!"
Raven knew as well as anyone how much Azura abhorred violence, but his own violent temper could not be helped. All he knew was rage, rage, and more rage, except when he was around her. When he was with her, he was akin to a lovesick puppy dog chasing her around.
"I... I want to hear that story. I love that story... Don't leave me... my Angel..."
Making sure the sleeves on his wrists covered Azura as much as possible, keeping her warm, he had calmed down, for the most part. He still had a child-like fear of her leaving him forever, but with his arms encompassing her, his fear had been alleviated somewhat. With an extreme amount of effort and restraint, he'd slowly sit up, making sure he did not hurt Azura while doing so, and would gently rock her back and forth in one arm, his other hand gently holding one of hers.
"Why...? Why you take tests meant for me? Why you so determined I no die?"

Azura would make another shushing sound though this time a bit more sharp. She usually did not snap at him, but to hear him talk of such things was something she would not tolerate. "No. Don't ever think that. You are not their lab rat. Do you understand me? You never ever let them touch you with those needles again. Ever." She was very adamant about it, even going so far as to force her head up from his chest so that she could look into his eyes as she spoke. Those pale hazel orbs filled with a determination and a sort of motherly love that said she was being strict for his own good, which she was....or perhaps it was a bit of her own selfish good as well. She didn't know.
Yet, as she felt him trembling, she would lay her head back against his chest, nuzzling into him softly as she tried to sooth him, tried to calm his rage and his anger. "I know you will. I know you will do a good job too. You are so brave, you know that?" Cooing the words to him in that rather angelic and loving tone, trying to keep him calm and to reassure him that everything was going to be okay. "I will never ever leave you. I promised you that when you first came here and I promise you that now. We will always be together." She meant it too, every last word of it.
Though as he asked for the story she would smile rather weakly, closing her eyes as she sighed and thought back over the first night she had gone to his room, the first night he had been locked away here and the first night she had told him the story. "When you were a little boy, a bunch of very bad men went to take you away from your Mommy and Daddy. Your parents tried so hard to fight them off, but in the end the bad men were just too strong and they stole you and brought you here." It was her best guess as to how the story had played out for him being brought here, she really had no clue. "You were so scared and you cried and cried for you Mommy and Daddy but the bad men locked you away and left you alone. However, up in heaven, God saw what the bad men had done and he cried because it made him so, so sad. He didn't want to see you alone like that, and though your parent's could not hear your cries, he did. So, God made up his mind to do what he could to try and help you, to make sure that you were never, ever alone again."
A soft little sigh as she lightly brushed her hands over the area where his heart beat, smiling just a bit more as she got to the part of the story she liked, even if she knew that it was a complete lie. "That is when God decided to make me. He looked all around the world, finding all the things that made up a fierce, strong angel so that he would know you were protected and safe. Fire for my hair to make sure I was strong and determined, nearly unstoppable. The songs of angels so that I could sooth you with my voice. And the softest, most soothing color he could find so that my eyes would always be able to comfort you. So that you would always know that I loved you when you looked into them. Then, with a bit of his power, he brought me to life and gave me the power to never grow old and to never die so that I could never ever leave you. He also gave me the power to go through walls so that I could get to you no matter where you were....and then he sent me to down here to Earth."
She knew it wasn't the best story in the world, but he liked it and to be honest, she did too. "That is the night that I came into your room and held you while you cried, stayed with you until you fell asleep....and I have been with you ever since and I will be forever...Because that is why God made me. To look after you and to protect you...forever and ever."
Falling silent, she would let herself relax, feeling him start to relax as she told the story. She was glad, yet as soon as the silence began to close in around them, he would speak up again, her brow furrowing at the questions he asked, having hoped he would have let it go. "Because I love you Raven. Because we are family now and family does not let other members of their family die. If I lost you, I would have nothing, I would have no purpose in this world. That is why. I need you." Never were truer words spoken. Despite how much he felt that he needed her, the truth was, she needed him just as bad, if not worse.

"But...! I... Okay..."
Raven giving in to Azura's command and wearily resigning himself to that fact, he had been slightly taken aback when she tried to soothe him, though much sharper than before. She had snapped at him. She usually did not snap at him, but Raven could not help it, as adamant and determined she was to never let them touch him again, and as strict as she was to make sure he did not talk about it, it broke his heart to see her broken and battered like this.
"I only brave... because I know you there with me... I want you to be happy... So I will smash and free you... So we be together forever..."
Raven's fear abated for the most part, he'd still slightly tremble against her though, his massive frame bent over her tiny frame like a cocoon and hiding her from view, he'd calm down considerably hearing the story, feeling her hands brushing over his heart, his arm cradling her continuing to gently rock her back and forth. That story had been the only thing that kept him calm, because the first part was true.
As with the other fellow Experiments, Raven had been forcibly taken from his parents and experimented on, but unlike the other experiments, the experimentation had cost him his mind, though never his heart. Azura had come to him and comforted him when he had been young and was terrified and battered, and had been by his side every since, making sure no one touched him ever again.
"I... I love you too... I need you... I no want to lose you..."
Azura was all that he had, and he would protect her with everything he had, because despite his brain being destroyed, he loved her not just purely and intensely, but romantically as well... well, as romantically as a rage fueled hulk could, and more than anything in this world, not to mention treasured her greatly, almost possessively you could say.
"I no leave you! I no care how many walls I smash through, I will stay with you forever!"

Azura hated nothing more than to be strict or stern with him, but she had no choice. If he gave into them and he let them so easily test on him there was a very real chance that she could lose him and that was something she could not bare. A little smile given as he would agree, nodding softly, feeling the weight of worry somewhat lifted from her heart. It could never fully go away, at least not now, not while they lived here. But one day. One day they would be free of this place and she could take care of him and not have to worry about anyone trying to hurt him again.
Though as he began to speak of his reasons for being brave she would shake her head slightly, smiling as she continued to soothingly stroke her hand along his chest, feeling him cradle her in his arms to the point that between his sleeves and her wings, she disappeared. "Nonsense. You have always been so very brave. I noticed that the first night I met you." She cooed the words up to him as she would lightly force herself to nuzzle against his chest.
Did she know that he felt romantically for her? Probably not. It just never crossed her mind. But she did know that he was fiercely protective and that he loved her, just perhaps not the degree that he did. But that didn't matter really, because in the end it would always be just them and only them. As the story went on, she felt him starting to calm, a little smile more evident upon her lips as she would finish and then sigh softly, curling her little body against his much larger one just a tiny bit more.
"I will never leave you, love. I promise. I will do whatever it takes to get to you and I will not stop until we are free and away from this place and anyone who wishes to hurt us." Again, she meant every word. She would think of whatever she had to in order to get free, even if she had to lie and manipulate those horrible, rotten kids at school to help her. As much as she hated to admit it, she would likely sacrifice lives to achieve her goal, but then, they were lives that she had deemed unworthy and for that reason, most of her guilt was alleviated.
"I know you will. I know that I can always count on you Raven. Nobody else will ever love me like you do." She would force herself upward, choking back a soft whimper as she pressed her lips to his cheek, her small hand softly brushing against the other. "We just have to stay strong now. We are so, so close. We just have to make those rotten, vial students do what we want, and soon we will be rid of this place..." Yes, she was banking on it. Those students would get them free or she would destroy everything in her path. She was tired of waiting and time was running out, even she knew that.

"It true! If I no had you from first night, I no able to smash like I do now! I would have no reason to fight! When I with you, I brave and smash those in our way, so we can finally be free and you no hurt ever again!"
Curling himself closer to Azura, though it was not obvious that Raven loved Azura romantically, mostly because with his fried brain, all he knew aside from rage and destruction, was fiercely protecting her, which left little room for him to ever learn and figure out how to show his romantic love for her.
"That all I can do for you... I no... live forever... So I love you more than anyone else while I still here! But I no want you to bear all burdens by yourself. I want to carry all your burdens, so you no get crushed! Those small fries... they will help us, or I smash them until they do! I want to go somewhere far away, where we be together forever..."
Feeling her press her lips to his cheek while her small hand brushed against the other cheek, he would reach down and gently brush away a few stray strands of hair with his massive hand, even though Azura hardly ever slept anymore, Raven would stay by her bedside night and day, until she got better.

She couldn't help but smile as he told her why he was the way he was. She knew that the doctors and the other officials would have found a way to make him do what they wanted, they always did. Just like they had found a very valuable way to keep her here, in this place. Raven. They knew she would never leave him behind and that she would not want to leave any of the others. However, it was mostly him. She would not want to abandon him no matter what promises for a future she had on the other side of these walls.
Not that she had much of a chance at the future, not with what she was, but she still knew that she could be free of the pain of these tests and these injections. But it had never once, even for a second, crossed her mind to leave without him and it would never happen. "Well, I don't know what I would ever do without you. You are my protector and I would be so lost without my Raven." She smiled nodding just a bit.
Then, as she pulled back from that kiss which she delivered to his cheek, she would feel his massive fingers lightly brushing her hair back, a weak smile given once more. She was pale, and she was still trembling in pain but she was a master of disguising her moods and her personalities and she would do so here if for no other reason than to keep him from worrying too much. "Tell me what you think of those students Raven. You have spent more time around that school than I. What do you think they are like? Nice or mean?" Her mind just idly wandering. Unsure if he really had any opinions on them but curious just the same.

"I protect you for as long as I live, because you protected me from start. I be more lost without you, then you without me! I need you more than anything! I no let anyone take you from me!"
Seeing Azura looking so pale and trembling in pain, Raven wanted nothing more than to hurt those that had hurt her, but if he did, it would do more harm than good for them. The freedom they so desperately wanted was in reach, and he would not screw it up, more for Azura than for him, than anything else.
"Some of them small fries are okay, they only fight me because they protect themselves. But others I no like. Sport small fries laugh at me and how huge I am, so I scare them. One Asian small fry with blond hair and bandanna over face want to kill me, because I come in and throw him around in a fight. Some don't deserve smashing, but most, I smash and feel no guilt for it."
Continuing to cradle Azura in his arms, Raven would scoot across the floor on his rear end to her bed, and gently lay her back down on her bed, sitting cross-legged beside her bedside, his massive arms resting lightly on the edge of her bed.
"You rest now, you may no sleep, but I no sleep and stay up with you and no leave your side until you better, not now, not ever!"

She didn't want to argue with him and therefore she would not correct him for his words. But the truth was, she had no purpose, that she could see, beyond taking care of him. It had been far too many years for her. Until she had gone to his room that night, when he was just a child, she had walked around in a sort of haze. Lost and abandoned of all hope in ever being anything other than a pin cushion for those shots they loved to so freely hand out. But then, she had floated into his room and seen those big bright eyes so full of fear and she had felt something. For the first time, in a very long time she had felt something real and honest and without him, she was certain that she would lose that within herself.
No, without him, Azura as she was today would not exist and she feared what she would become in its wake. So, she would just smile and nod, her eyes drifting closed once more as she listened to him speak of the students at the school. So, some were not so bad hmm? Well then, she would have to take that into account, though from what he was saying, she would have to be sure and pay a good long visit to the ones on the sports teams. A mental note made and a plan already being thought out. Not sure how she could manage, but certain she would find a way to make them suffer for ever laughing at him.
Then, something about a blond Asian kid. Her brow quirking just slightly. Hm, perhaps there would be something in that one. If he was distinct enough to be brought to Raven's mind specifically, that meant that it had not been a good fight, nor a good person.....and honestly, how many blond Asian boys were there running around that school? She didn't think many. "Kill you hmm? Well I suppose he did not know who he was messing with. Shame that one will have to die. I do so hate killing, but sometimes I fear it is warranted. Do not worry, I will handle it." Another mental note made, not pressing on the description because she was certain she could find out what she needed on her own. He had given her more than enough. "I wish that my experiences with them had been the same. They all treat me as though I am nothing, as though I am weak and beneath them. They care only for themselves."
She spoke just before he would shift to lay her down upon the bed, a small whimper held back as she curled onto her side and faced him, her wings wrapping about her just slightly. Smiling at his words, she would reach out, pulling his head down to lay upon the edge of the bed, fingers softly caressing his cheek as she shushed him much like a Mother would a child. "I will be fine love, do not worry about me. Close your eyes. It has been a very long day and you need your rest for tomorrow. I will be okay in a couple days. I always am." Cooing the words forth as she slowly tried to edge him into relaxing more, potentially sleeping. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but he was not like her, he needed sleep and she would not dare dream of depriving him of that. Still, she found comfort in him being here, in him being with her when she was, by far, at her weakest. The one time she could not defend him. At least this way she knew he was safe.
Her own eyes drifting closed as she thought over the things they had discussed and thought over the people he had mentioned. She would have to sneak into the office and get a list of the players on these sports teams, and she would also have to keep her eyes out for a blond Asian boy...Other things, well those would have to fall into place over time. They had missions still to carry out and though she hated the idea of hurting innocent people, something told her these students were far, far from that.

"I no like him, Angel. He send other students that act savagely after me, and threaten one small fry to fight me or he kill small fry himself. He say I would regret that day, but he one that regret that day in the end. I no worry, he threaten to kill others, now he one that will be killed. There also one small fry with green eyes that fight me... on purpose. He bring small fry I decimated in cafeteria before and break his wrists, and wanted to destroy me."
Raven knew what Azura was talking about, some of the students weren't selfish and cared only for themselves, they had only been doing what needed to be done to protect themselves, but the majority of the students? They cared only about themselves. Raven hated people that acted like that, and don't even get him started if he saw them treat Azura like trash, he had seen one of the male students treat her like she was a nobody one day, and it had enraged him to no end.
"... That small fry that no talk and treat you like trash? I no like him too..."
Azura reaching out and gently pulling his head down to rest on the edge of her bed, her fingers softly caressing his check and soothing him motherly after she had curled on her side to face him, he would shake his head in alarm, she had always looked after him when he had been broken and battered, now it was his turn to do the same for her.
"But...! You always look after me when I was in pain and weak, now it my turn to look after you! I be fine, I worried about you!"
His eyes wide and alert, he was determined to stay up with Azura and protect her when she was in this weakened state. Sleep, was the least of his concerns right now. Although he did eventually relax after a little while, she would see he was wide awake and the fierce determination in his eyes.
"I take care of you... so please no be angry I no want to sleep... I want to be sure you okay..."

Azura would feel a growl working its way into her throat. The thought of what that boy had done to Raven...her Raven...it pissed her off to no end. Making Azura angry was a truly hard thing to do, but she did have a few key buttons to push and that was one of them. In fact it was the fastest way to get on her bad side and any of the other experiments knew that and trekked lightly on the matter. She had killed for less than threatening to kill him, so it was safe to say that this Asian boy was in for a real treat when she found him and got her hands on him.
"Yes, he will die. Painfully." The bad part here was not that she said that, but that she cooed the words forth as softly and lovingly as she would anything else she had said prior. No, she didn't like death, she hated it and she hated dishing it out, but when it was called upon she was not one to hesitate giving it out.
Yet then he brought up one with green eyes and she would grin slightly. "Yes, I saw that one. Cael Seran." She would shake her head, thinking back to the boy and that little encounter as well as her own with him. "He is a smart one, very smart. If he would just stop being such an arrogant prick then he might have potential." She shrugged and gave a light chuckle. Cael was something akin to a school yard crush of sorts, based solely upon looks of course. Nothing she would act upon for anything more than a little fun......maybe. Not that she would ever admit such to Raven....No, he would break that poor boy in half or die trying. Then Azura would have to kill him and yeah it would just be one big mess.
"Yes, I didn't care much for that boy either. Though I did notice that he doesn't talk. I am not sure if that is something he chooses to do all the time or if he just thinks I am beneath him. Likely both. But perhaps when this is all over I can see if he will scream." She would smile softly and continue to lightly stroke his cheek as she tried to get him to calm down, to rest. Yet as the minutes ticked by she quickly began to notice that she wasn't going to win this one....at least not completely.
"Raven...." She sighed and would shake her head, finally giving a defeated little smile in his direction as she ran her fingers over his cheek and allowed her wing to curl about her a bit more, the dark color of its feather wrapping about her solid white outfit and hiding her body from sight, for the most part. "So tell me, since you are not going to go to sleep...What is one thing you want more than anything in this world?" Well she did plan on getting him a present once they were free and nobody could take it away from him, she just wasn't sure what he would want.
There were a lot of things that she had to think about when it came to them being free, especially money. But with her ability to become a ghost she was sure that it would not be a real issue when the time came. No, they would have a place away from here and they would be free and happy. That was all she really ever wanted and once she had that, she could finally feel....at peace.
