Back to School Carnival (Random Event)

[Kevala Katashi]

So, it was finally time for a new school year. Not that any of the students or the faculty were too keen on having to come back to this place. Most were still reeling from the abduction of their School Captain, and others were terrified of what this meant for them. Surely, if he could be taken then they stood no chance at all. Right?

The sad thing is, Kevala was inclined to agree with their worries and doubts. Mostly because she had watched that video feed for hours, over and over again, day after day. Each time paying a little extra attention to the girl in black. She wanted to see if she could pick out anything that might help identify her, or bring them closer to knowing what was going on. But there was nothing. All Kevala could get was that she was petite, a female, shoulder length hair and very very powerful.

It had been years since Kevala had seen or encountered somebody with that much force, that much speed. It was interesting and frightening at the same time, to be honest, due to the threat that the girl posed. Another thing though, that Kevala was almost certain of, was that the girl in the video was a student here at the school, or perhaps even a teacher. Why else go to such great lengths to hide herself? Also, she highly doubted that the girl's hair was really that dark...But she couldn't prove it just yet, there was still so much more information that needed to be gathered.

None the less, she had insisted that they start school on schedule, if for no other reason than because hiding from one's problems never solved them....Ever. So, might as well suck it up and confront the problem head on. Besides, if the girl attacked again with her friends, then that would give Kevala more chance to try and Gather information.

A little ray of hope inside her mind at the thought. She had put together this little event, at first, in the hopes that a little get together might ease up some of the tensions people felt about coming back here, but as time had worn on, she had gotten the idea in her head, that it would be rather lucky if that bitch attacked again during this even, when Kev was there to witness it for herself.

However, she doubted that would happen, she just wasn't that lucky. But that didn't mean she couldn't at least hope for the worst....right? A little bored sigh as she would tug at the collar of her white, button up blouse, adjusting it just a bit as her heels clicked against the gymnasium flooring. The place had been repaired rather nicely and you could now not even tell that any damage had been done in here at all...Well aside from the fact that certain students kept pointing out the various spots where the most damage had been done only weeks before.

But again that was neither here nor there. The main goal for this was simple really. To have a little get together to ease anxieties of staff and students alike, allow them a chance to mingle and meet and greet one another. See who was who and all that good shit.

Moving past the pool area, she would spot the double doors that led outside open, just like she had instructed...Her heels carrying her the distance toward them before she stepped through to look over the area that used to be the vacant back courtyard of the school. Now though, there were various games set up, food stands, drink stands and all that other good stuff. There were also several carnival rides and funhouses set up.

Yup. Kev had actually done something nice....ish...for the students and staff. A Back To School Carnival of sorts. All the basics were there, including the sounds and smells of a usual carnival. Even the people running the rides and games. The fliers had been sent out to students weeks in advance, as well as to the staff that would be working here this year. Pretty much, it had given a date, a time that the gates would be opening, a suggestion to dress casual, and a little side note that everything would be free for students and staff with their school issued ID presented.

Shocking, I know, that Kevala would do something this....nice but then, you just had to wonder what ulterior motive she had for this whole thing. Because yeah, you could almost bet money that there was one. She just wasn't saying.

Now, as the sun began to hang low in the sky over the horizon, the lights of the little event coming to life, she would take the chance to pause and admire her creativity, leaning into the wall of the school and simply folding her arms over her chest and waiting for the students to arrive.

OOC: Okay so random event time. Based on participation and creativity, awards could be issued. Have funsies!

Taylor and Luke would walk, hand in hand towards the school. Her hoodie was on as usual but the hood was down for once this time. Luke preferred to see her face when they were together.

"So, I got enough cash on my last job to get us some snacks and stuff here, to win you a few stuffed animals and things and to put us on a few rides. That cool with you?"
"Haha, yea. Luke... you are Awesome. You always take good care of me."

Taylor would lean up and kiss his cheek. She didn't notice that when she pulled away her "brother" was blushing just a tad. She walked by their superintendent and waved ever so slightly. A small smile at the woman from both the teens before they hurried off into the carnival area.

"So where to first? Ohhh Can we have a funnel cake? They smell so good!"
"Sure, I think they are over here."

Luke chuckled as Taylor practically dragged him over to one of the serving stations. Never having had a Funnel Cake before, Taylor got the works put on it. Powdered sugar, whip cream, bananas strawberries and cinnamon sugar. Luke and her would find a place to sit, a little bench and the two would pick at their funnel cake. Luke scooped some whip cream on his finger and tapped her on the nose with it. Her grey blue orbs went cross eyed to stare at it and they laughed. In honesty... this was the first time both of them had been able to laugh and smile in a long time. This was the first time the two felt... safe. They liked where they were and who they knew.

Luke would look thoughtfully at Taylor as he watched her clean her nose off with a napkin. A smile came across his lips as she smiled back at him.

"I promised you didn't I Tay? I promised that our life here would be better."

Taylor would nod and smile at Luke before stuffing a strawberry into his mouth. He chuckled at her and patted her head. They were surprisingly in a good mood today.

[Kazumi O'Connor]

Nyx honestly didn't want to be here. She was not in the mood to be roaming around school grounds for some stupid festival that her Mother had put together. She knew the point of this, to try and make them feel better about the school and not so scared of it after what had happened to Patrick....Which, in Nyx's mind, simply meant that she was trying to get people to forget about him, to move on, to pretend like it never happened. Even in her non emotional state she thought that was bullshit and so being here, was like a slap in the face of his memory.

Yet, here she was. If for no other reason than the fact that she was the Varsity Captain and she needed to at least pretend to give a shit about this school and the people in it. Her attire for the evening consisting of a pair of low rise jeans, a black tank top and those black, VC boots. However, tonight she was not alone, she had brought Ruth with her, strapped into a snuggly that was strapped onto Nyx and held the baby against her chest. Ruth, dressed in a pretty little pink dress, was sound asleep for the time being, her head resting against her Mother's chest and one little and curled up so that she could suck on her thumb softly. Every now and then little slurping sounds would rise up from her general direction as she did such.

Her hair pulled back into a ponytail, a few strands had fallen free and cascaded down around her face and neck, a little sigh passing her lips as she lifted her hand to tuck them back around behind her ear, the other hand softly repositioning Ruth's free hand so that it wasn't pinned at such an awkward angle. Amethyst eyes looking about, as she slowly made her way through the lit up walkways.

She supposed that she could hang out here for about an hour and then take off, not really worried about chatting with anyone....or at least that was the case until her eyes fell upon an all too familiar blond. A little grin curling upon her lips, noting the "brother" standing nearby. A little roll of her eyes...not sure who the hell he thought he was fooling. A little chuckle at the thought before she would move to slide up behind Taylor, making sure to turn so that Ruth didn't get squished or anything. One hand would rest upon the back of the snuggy, over the baby's back while the other would lightly brush against Taylor's side, leaning in at the same instant and purring against her ear. "Hey sexy." Amethyst eyes cut to the "brother" before pulling back and resting the free hand along side the other now, protectively over the baby.

Taylor would jump slightly as someone came up and hugged her. At the sound of the voice, she knew it was Nyx. Blinking she would smile and turn to hug her friend. Despite what her and Nyx had done the other night, she still saw her friend before her.

"Hey, Oh you brought Ruth..."

She smiled and looked back at her brother motioning towards the baby. Luke would nod slightly as he held onto the funnel cake he had bought Taylor. He caught the look Nyx gave him and she can glare or narrow her eyes all she wanted. Taylor was his step-sister first and crush second.

"Tay you going to finish your funnel cake or you done?"
"Hmm? Oh I'll finish it."

Taylor was oblivious to Nyx being rather possessive of her and to Luke's crush on her. She would step away from Nyx to get her funnel cake. She would turn, a piece of the funnel cake in hand as she smiled at Nyx.

"I have never had one of these. They are really good."

Luke would pat Taylor on her head. He smiled at Nyx though it was almost one of those, 'you can't have her' type smiles. He had no idea what Taylor and Nyx had done the other night, just that Taylor went to see Nyx and help her take care of Ruth.

"Alright, I'm going off to get you some water okay? I'll be back."
"Kay, Just remember we still gotta go on some rides too."
"Yep, and win you a stuffed animal."

He smiled as he walked off leaving Taylor with Nyx. He wasn't worried about it too much to be honest. His sister could handle her self as much as he hated to think about it. Taylor continued to munch happily on the funnel cake. The giant smile she had was like a child looking at an enormous birthday cake. Sure they had carnivals and stuff in Virginia but she never went. Luke had wanted to make sure her life here was better than their life in Virginia so to him the reasonable thing was, work hard, earn money and make sure she could do things she wanted to.

"Nyx, you sure the carnival isn't going to be too noisy for Ruth?"

Taylor asked a look of concern crossing her face.

[Kazumi O'Connor]

Taking the hug, or the half assed hug, or whatever it was, she would smile and step back, her hand softly brushing against Ruth's head as she looked down at her. She would allow the two to have their conversation, not really paying much attention to it. Not because she didn't want to impose, but because Nyx didn't really care. That was how she varied from Kazumi so greatly...Nyx genuinely didn't give a damn about much in this world.

Though she did catch the "brothers" look toward her and her brow would raise slightly, a grin curling upon her lips that said something along the lines of "wanna bet" in response to the look she had been given. She was always one to take on a challenge, and if he really wanted to play that game with her, well...she hated to tell him, but she had already won. At least to a certain degree. Yet she still said nothing, just let him continue to play the doting big brother or whatever he thought he was pretending to be. In all honesty, he acted more like the doting boyfriend, but then, maybe she was wrong. Belial acted the same way, just way more possessive.

Tongue slowly tracing over her lower lip, she would glance back up whenever the conversation seemed to be directed at her, that same, usual little smile again curled upon her lips as she glanced down at Ruth and then back to Taylor. "No, she is fine. I think it will do some good for us both to be out of the house. She has still been having those random fits, and the doctor says there is nothing wrong with her. I figured maybe getting her out, letting her see the world and see new people might help a little." She shrugged. To be honest she wasn't sure what to do anymore. Ruth simply continued to have those episodes of crying and screaming as if she were dying and nothing that Nyx did was making them any better.

"So, you having a good time here?" Her brow arching slightly as she ran her free hand through her hair, keeping those dark amethyst eyes on the other girl, though staying aware of everything around her. Her senses on a high alert given the fact that she had the baby with her tonight.

[pheonix]

A carnival, the perfect place for her to become accustomed with this school. Pheonix, clad in her all black spandex suit... smiled as she walked past the superintendent. Sunglasses rested over her hazel eyes, hands cloaked in black leather gloves and her boots lightly brushed over the ground below. She would stop a moment as if she were thinking where to go first and then continued to walk. Too bad Raven couldn't come with. She wondered if the large guy would have even had fun here. She doubted he would understand the need for such a thing. In honesty... she didn't understand it. She looked around watching all the happy children rush about and felt a knot in her stomach.

Why should they be free? Why should they be happy? Excited? Why? She felt her self becoming angry and ducked behind a popcorn stand. Come on Pheonix love... fix your self. If you lose it here... your cover is blown. She thought to her self. She would hide there a while, the heat that radiated off her began to pop the unpopped popcorn and she hurriedly bolted from it. "The hell was that?" The sad note about all this was indeed. Pheonix had never heard popping popcorn, or even tasted it for that matter. She ate what ever slop the facility gave her. Recently... a fixation of hers has been ice cream. You wouldn't think so because of how cold the sugary treat was but she did like the taste.

Her anger now subsided she casually walked the carnival grounds looking and watching. Perhaps she would win something for Raven and bring it to him. People gave gifts when they wanted friends didn't they? That seemed like the right thing to do in her mind. So, she would step up to one of the games and take a shot. It would take her about 5 tries but she would finally win a stuffed bear. Well, that would be enough lonely interaction for her today... time to put her plan in action. Pheonix would wander around after winning her bear and hide it in a safe place before going off to the rest rooms.

She would tug and pull at her hair, making it a matted mess as if she had just been in a struggle. She tore holes into her little spandex suit and would force her self to get so angry she cried. Just to make her make up run. Satisfied with her work she would leave the restroom. Soon breaking off in a run a piece of paper in her gloved hand and soft sobs coming from her as she ran towards the school's lovely superintendent. "Mrs. Badoer! Mrs. Badoer!" Pheonix called sounding quiet out of breath and scared. Even with her broken sunglasses still on her face she showed some sort of terror in her hazel eyes. Those acting classes from Azura had sure been paying off.

Just before reaching Kevala, Pheonix would fall as if injured and she would hold her leg, still clutching that piece of paper. She whimpered pathetically before looking over at Kevala with a wounded look. She wasn't that far from her now, maybe five to ten feet. "Mrs. Badoer... some... monsters... they..." She was half out of breath and sounding as though she was going to cry some more. She would hold out the slip of paper with a date, a time and a place on it. "They beat me up... told me I had to give this to you... or... or..." She whimpered and looked as pathetic as she could.

[Azura]

Azura wasn't too keen on being here. Not when there were too many variables at work, but she knew that at least one of the other Experiments was going to be here, and as the leader of this little group, at least until Legion was free, she had to make sure that the girl didn't go and get them all killed. Sure, she wasn't going to be stepping in to stop anything that happened, but she was sure as hell going to be watching to make sure that nothing went wrong that could potentially blow their cover.

A little sigh passing her lips as she made her way through the brightly lit walkways of the carnival. The sights and sounds assaulting her senses to the point that she felt her stomach turn. Granted, it was not completely the fault of the carnival or the school itself, nor was it the fault of those around her, it was a common side effect that came with being separated from her Demon for too long, which in their case, any amount of time was too long.

Slowly, her tongue would trace over her lips, one hand coming up to idly twist a lock of her fiery red hair about her fingers. Hazel eyes scanned the crowds and the various stands, curious as to what the point of this whole thing was. She still was very innocent in many things as far as how the world worked, and things like this little "festival" were new to her. Not really exciting, not anymore, but new just the same.

Her usual attire consisting of a bright white, strapless dress and white ribbon in her hair making her stand out against the otherwise dirty backdrop created by this event. A bored little look crossing her gaze as she kicked up a bit of dirt with the toe of her shoe. She would much rather be back in the lab, with him...Though to be honest, she hoped that soon enough they would let him out of the lab and allow him to be with her all the time, then this sick, bored, lonely feeling could finally go away, if only just a little.

[Ryu Hikari]

The roar of an engine could be heard, shattering the peaceful silence, as a dark shape could be seen barreling down the road, coming closer and closer, as a motorcycle came into view, eventually racing past the school and pulling into the parking lot. Parking the motorcycle, the figure would pull off his helmet and climb off, as Kazuki stowed his helmet inside the seat compartment, a spare helmet already inside.

Although a carnival wasn't really his thing, when the alternative was training tonight, hell, why not. Shoving his keys into his jeans pocket as he walked past Kevala, he would nod slightly to her in acknowledgment, just like how his daddy always greeted her, and made his way through the campus grounds, not really looking for anyone in particular at the moment.

He was however, thinking of winning a plushie for Kaori and bring it home to her from one of the carnival games, and would pass by a familiar face that was talking to a blond girl, but as he was looking the other way, he did not see her, and would continue through the campus grounds.

[Kazumi O'Connor]

Nyx was busy talking to Taylor, or at least trying to. Not really paying attention to what was going on around her. Though no sooner had she started her little convo than Ruth would wake up, her little hands reaching up to tug at Nyx's hair rather playfully as she giggled. Though, that was short lived, to say the least. Her bright blue eyes finally catching sight of all the pretty lights that suddenly surrounded them, soon followed by the noises of the games and the various machines that were going off all around.

She was captivated, and a little cooing sound would be heard as she babbled and pushed against Nyx's chest to try and turn herself to see more. She was enthralled by it all, and a little bit of drool would manage to work its way down her chin as she forgot to close her mouth. Completely lost to the moment and not really paying attention to her Mommy who was continuing to softly brush her fingers along the little girls red locks.

Though, as Ruth continued to look around, a familiar face, or at least slightly familiar, would come into her line of sight. A little giggle escaping her as she clapped her hands, rather excited to see her Mommy's new friend. She was finally getting to where she didn't forget people the second they walked out the door, and so for her, it was a big exciting thing to see somebody she actually remembered.

Her little hand jutting out, fully expecting him to poke her on the nose or in the belly, she would blink a bit as he didn't seem to be looking. Her baby mind working a mile a minute to figure out how to get attention when suddenly it hit her. Just as he moved to inch past them, nudged closer due to the fact that there were so many people around, Ruth would seize her opportunity and reach out, grabbing onto his shirt and babbling in her usual baby speech that much louder.

The action causing Nyx to jerk around just slightly, feeling the resistance on her baby's arm and not sure what the hell was going on. More than ready to tear somebody's head off for touching her daughter. Though when she saw who it was, she would smile a bit, a little fracture of blue showing in her eyes. "Ryu?" Refusing to use his other name, if only because it was way too similar to her own, and that was creepy.

[Ryu Hikari]

Jostled around slightly by the crowd of people walking through the campus grounds, Kazuki unwittingly nudged closer and closer to Kazumi and Ruth, just as he passed by them, he'd feel his shirt get grabbed as he was halted in his tracks ever so slightly, followed by the sound of a familiar but loud babbling of baby speech reaching his ears, as he turned, he would find himself looking down at a familiar face, it was...

"... Ruth...?"

Blinking once seeing Kazumi, or Nyx currently, whirl around, slightly taken aback by her hell bent reaction, he'd relax upon seeing her smile a bit, a small fracture of blue showing in her eyes.

"Hey... I didn't expect to see you here, to be honest. Hey Ruth, have you been a good girl since I last saw you?"

Poking Ruth gently in her tummy with his index finger, he'd smile slightly at her and then up at Kazumi/Nyx, his other hand tucked away in his jacket pocket.

[Kazumi O'Connor]

Nyx was pretty surprised to see him here, at least where she was currently standing. Sure, she knew that he was likely to be here, being one of the pillars and such, but still. Her mouth opening to speak though being cut off by the sounds of Ruth babbling all too happily up at him.

As he reached out and poked her tummy she would giggle and squee softly before covering her face with her hands in an attempt to play peek-a-boo with him. A little smile once more curling upon Nyx's features, though it was more due to the fact that Kaz was trying to push her way forward in this moment than anything. "Well, my mom said I didn't have to show, but I figure since my husband isn't able to do his pillar duties, I can't very well be slacking off on my own. Plus, I thought it would do Ruth some good to get out and see the lights and stuff...be around other people."

She shrugged, glancing toward Taylor and then back toward Ryu. "Umm, have you two met?" Not sure, and not willing to make assumptions that they had, or had not. Just asking the idle question as her hands came to rest upon Ruth's back, softly cradling her against her chest. Though Ruth had other plans, her little hands extending outward toward Ryu and making grabby hand gestures. She wanted to be picked up and out of that snuggy...If only because he played with her and she loved to have somebody to play with, especially since her Daddy wasn't around to play with her right now.

[Ryu Hikari]

Kazuki smiling slightly, Ruth playing peek-a-boo with him, he'd cover his own eyes with his hand and play back with her, looking up at Kazumi/Nyx and seeing her smile slightly as he rose up a little but still stayed bent down, so he was now face to face with her, so she wouldn't have to crane her neck to look up at him, as he did tower over her after all.

"Yeah, that's true I suppose. I think Ruth is pretty happy to get out and see a new place and bright lights and sounds. I'm a little glad to see you and Ruth though..."

Seeing her shrug and glance over at her blond friend nearby and then back at him, he'd shake his head.

"... No, I haven't met her. Your friend?"

Kazuki smiling slightly seeing Ruth making grabby hand gestures while Kazumi/Nyx rested her hands up against her back and cradled her against her. Looking over at Kazumi, if he was allowed to, he'd gently lift Ruth up and out of her snuggy, inadvertently moving closer to and up against Kazumi/Nyx, having taken a shower before he had come, and smelled nice and clean, and would cradle Ruth in one arm, poking lightly at her nose with the index finger of his other arm.

"Do you want to walk around, or would you rather stay and finish talking with your friend? It honestly doesn't matter to me."

As Nyx told her about the baby and herself being perfectly fine to be out, Taylor would simply nod as she munched on her treat. She smiled seeing Ruth stir and watched as the baby began to twist and turn distracted by the things around her. Taylor admired babies. They were virtually unaware of the evils of the world and held an innocence she would never be able to get back. It was at this time Nyx would notice a Japanese boy walk past. Taylor, lost in quiet thought would let the two talk. Luke would walk up, an eyebrow raised as he watched his sister put a little bit of distance between herself and Nyx.

Taylor was as always, awkward around others. While Nyx was perfectly fine talking with the Japanese boy, Taylor began to feel increasingly uncomfortable. Inch by inch the blond girl began to move. Luke just watched from afar. Part of him hurt to see Taylor so awkward around others. The blond girl jumped slightly when she was brought into the conversation. She would shake her head no to Nyx. She had never met or even seen the Japanese boy. Luke, feeling bad, would finish walking over to Taylor and set the water in her hand.

Luke himself wasn't outgoing but he knew how important it was for Taylor to try and become more outgoing if she was going to be an actress like she wanted. His hand would shoot out to the boy and he'd smile. Taylor would watch Luke as if he were some alien.

"Hey there. This is Taylor and I'm Luke. Good to see Nyx has so many friends around here. Might help Tay be less shy."

He said sounding rather friendly just before he nudged Taylor with his elbow. He might not like Nyx, or Kazumi what ever her name was... but he couldn't rightly be rude to his step-sister's friend. Taylor would give a faint smile and wave slightly to the Japanese boy. Luke would pat her head and take a sip of his own water. The Japanese boy mentioning that him and Nyx could go off together. A bit of a smile returned to his face. Taylor would finish her carnival treat and lean up towards Luke. She would give his shirt a gentle tug and he would lean down to hear her whisper in his ear.

"Hearing you won't kill the boy Tay, but yes... I'll go throw this away for you."

He took the empty plate from her and walked off. Taylor blushed and looked away. She was embarrassed she had trouble talking in front of others. She didn't know why it was such a problem for her, it just was.

[Kazumi O'Connor]

Nyx would look at Ryu as he picked Ruth up, glancing back and forth between him and Taylor, not entirely sure what to do with this situation. Though she had to admit, she didn't exactly feel like she fit in in this moment at all. Maybe it was just her, or the fact that she felt kind of trapped, or maybe it was just the fact that she was still learning to deal with Patrick being gone.

But whatever the case, she found herself inching back from the pair a bit more. Nyx knew it had something to do with Kazumi and her sudden desire to reappear, for her friend or whatever, but Nyx wasn't ready to give over control and to be honest, she would much rather just leave then deal with Kazumi suddenly popping back up.

An apologetic little smile given before she would reach out and gently pluck Ruth from his grasp, cuddling her daughter against her as she glanced at the two once more and continued to smile softly. "You know...I actually think I should go find my Mother and let her see that I was here. She will kill me if she finds out I brought Ruth and didn't take her to see her." A little nod given, lying through her fucking teeth but figuring it was better than "Hey, you guys are making me feel out of place cause my other half is trying to come out, so I am gonna hit the road."

Yeah...much better.

A little smile once again curling onto her features as she took a step back and shifted to lightly place Ruth back within the snuggly, the baby pouting slightly though eventually just settling down and nuzzling against her Mommy's chest. "But I will catch up with you some other time. You two have fun though. It was really nice seeing you." A nod once more given before she would turn and head in the direction of the school. She supposed she might as well LOOK like she was going to do what she said she was going to do. She could always cut out further away so that she didn't look like she was running away, even though that was pretty much what she was doing.

[Ryu Hikari]

Raising one eyebrow noticing Kazumi/Nyx's blond friend shy away from him inch by inch, as if he was about fight her or something, looking at the blond girl, then at Kazumi/Nyx, then back to the blond girl again, Kazuki wasn't hurt by how blatantly obvious her discomfort was, he just wasn't sure why. A guy coming over to and join their little trio, setting a cup of water in the girl's hand and extending his hand out to Kazuki, he'd extend his own hand out and shake the guy's hand with a firm grip, returning the guy's smile with a slight smile of his own.

"I'm Kazuki, nice to meet you Luke, Taylor."

Though... Nyx? Right... He recalled that Kazumi had started to go by and call herself by that name, though he couldn't tell you why. Releasing Luke's hand as he nudged Taylor with his elbow, Kazuki would merely bow his head slightly back at Taylor's little wave. Turning his attention to Ruth, he'd cradle her in his arm and let her grab his index finger, making sure to avoid over-exciting her, or she'd never get to sleep tonight.

Paying little attention to Luke and Taylor's little side conversation and more on Ruth, gently rocking her back and forth in his arm to keep her calmed down, he did however, look up at Kazumi/Nyx as he noticed her smile slightly apologetically and reach out from the top of his peripheral vision, and would relinquish his grasp on Ruth and let Kazumi/Nyx take her back and cuddle her, nodding slightly.
