As the car pulled up in front of the school, Emilia could not help but be taken back by how large the entire thing was. Not only did the portion of it which was supposed to be the high school look intimidating, but the entire campus was littered with large, imposing buildings. Sitting in her seat, she would stare out the window toward her new school, and feel a lump slowly starting to form in her throat.
Maybe she should be rethinking this decision?
Well, it wasn't like she had a whole lot of choices, and as soon as she reminded herself of that, she would try and shake off that initial fear and gather her nerve about her once more. A little sigh passing her lips, she would turn her eyes down to her lap, scanning over the map that had come with her registration packet. It gave her a general idea of where everything was, and told her which building was what, yet there was a lot lacking and that bothered her. She didn't want to get lost in this place, lest she never be able to find her way back out.
However, no sooner had she started to trace the path from the front entrance to the main office with her finger, than her Mother would tap her shoulder, drawing her eyes upward toward the older woman. She could see it already, the instant her eyes met her Mom's. She was worried, very much so, and she didn't like the idea of leaving Emma here one little bit.
Quickly, the woman's hands began to move around, drawing Emilia's attention to them now instead of her eyes...though to be honest, she didn't need to see what she was saying to know what it was.
I really wish that you would just let me hire a tutor to home school you. This place looks dangerous and with your....
She paused, her hands falling into her lap for a moment before she would reach out and cup Emilia's cheek softly, lifting her gaze once more to her own eyes. Her lips parting, she would slowly mouth the last fraction of her sentence, knowing well that her daughter could read lips very well.
"You will do fine."
It was a bit of an about face from where the conversation had been heading, but she knew that it was her Mother's attempt at letting her prove herself. It was hard on the woman, but it was something that Emma really wished that both her parents would do more often. Still, this little effort meant the world to her.
Smiling softly, she would place her hand on her Mother's which remained on her cheek and then pull it away so that her own hands could move up in front of her. Fingers moving and shifting, she would sign out her words, saving her paper for whens he got into the school.
I will be fine Mom. I love you. See you after.
Leaning forward and pressing a kiss to her Mom's cheek before spinning around in her seat and throwing open the door. As she stepped out, she was met by a soft, cool breeze as it wafted through the area. Drawing in a deep breath, she took in the scent of the school, smiling a bit nervously as she shut the car door and slid her bag up onto her shoulder. Then, with one last look over her shoulder toward the car and toward her Mom through the window, she would turn back and begin her trip up the walkway toward the front entrance.
Of course, the whole time, she was looking around, trying to make sure that nobody talked to her or that she wasn't missing anything important. Yet it soon became apparent that most people didn't even seem to notice she existed. Which, she supposed was good...for now. It allowed her to get inside without any trouble, and it gave her a chance to try and plot out her goals for today in her mind.
Getting into the school though, she soon found herself lost in a rather large crowd of students as they shuffled through the halls, making it really hard to figure out which way was which. She had been so certain of her path before she got in here, but now...well now she felt kind of lost. Still, she would try her best to find her way through the throngs of people, nudging her way out of the crowd eventually to try and get a baring on where she currently was.
It didn't help though, and as she reached into the back pocket of her jeans, to fish out the map, she found that she had left it sitting on her seat in her Mom's car. The realization making her groan slightly, or at least, the sound lost on her, but that familiar tickle at the back of her throat evident.
Biting her lip, she would look around for a moment, studying the faces of the students around her, and trying to decide which one she should try and engage in conversation first. The act of doing so for her, much harder than one might think, especially given the fact that there was essentially a language barrier between her and the rest of the world.
Still, eyes would settle upon a boy, one that was currently standing off away from the passing traffic of bodies. She supposed, he was as good a person as any, and slowly she would inch her way closer to where he was. Her little hand coming up to tap on his shoulder, to try and get his attention. From there, if he turned around, she would first attempt to sign out the words Excuse me. Could you tell me how to get to the main office? [/i] Just to see if he would respond, if he could understand what she was saying. If he didn't, well then she would quickly scramble to grab up the little sterling silver notepad about her neck, flipping it open and scribbling out the words on the paper before holding it up for him to see. Those bright emerald eyes looking toward him somewhat hopeful and a nice, polite little smile on her lips. [/font]

I'd been a few days since that trying practice on the field and already Guy was a bit uneasy about being on the team what with their little spouts with Cael and the easily beaten offensive line Guy had a feeling that he was going to end up pummeled into oblivion by days end. Gnawing unconsciously on his lip the boy would waver on the walls edge looking curiously onward at the steal water fountain contemplating whether he should drink or not. Eventually impatience would win out forcing him to kneal briefly and get a mouthful, most of which managed to coat his bottom chin.
*Tap*
The frame of a small finger imploring at the back edge of his leather coat drawing the boy's attention up and around barely managing to scoop up what was falling from his lips. "Oop Sorry," His hand coming up to cover his lips and keep the water from spooling out on this girl before paying just enough attention to get nothing from the exchange of fingers.
Dumbfounded Guy would simply look back in slight confusion his brow cocked and trying to make something of her exchange before the message seemed to get across. Patience bear in mind as she turned to a notepad to scrawl out the words.
"Yeah sure, ugh this way."
Guy made sure that his motions were exhaggerated and large enough that it may be a bit too attention grasping jutting his palms out down the hall. He'd teeter off down the hall making sure his pace was even with hers although getting ahead of himself and occassionally offering up a finger to turn but swapping full frontal face to keep eye contact with her. New kid? He'd been there once, personally he'd be damned glad to run into someone like himself as opposed to I don't know... Cael.

Emma would tilt her head slightly, watching as he rushed to capture the water which he had been drinking, and wrinkling her nose a bit as some splashed onto her cheek. She caught part of what he was saying, though his hand covered the rest of his lip's motions, making her cock a brow in confusion as her own hand came up to wipe away the single drop of water which now ran down her pretty little face.
As she signed out what she wanted to know, it was quickly apparent that he had no idea what she was saying, and so it was good that she had her backup plan handy, scribbling out the note and then looking to him with deep green eyes, hopeful of a reply. Which, she indeed got, although his motions seemed a bit over exaggerated, which to be honest, was not surprising. She had seen this a million times in the past, or so it seemed. People never quite new how to handle a girl who obviously could not hear them, and so they seemed to automatically assume that she was a little slow, or that she needed bold, larger than life movements to communicate.
As he confirmed he knew the direction, and went about moving his arms, she would giggle softly and shake her head, her emerald hues shimmering with amusement. Still, he would turn to head in the direction he had motioned to, and she would be quick to follow. Though it was obvious only a few feet into the journey that he wasn't entirely sure how to behave with her. He seemed a bit, off, and for her to think that, with only having just met him must have meant something. But then, she was so used to people being off when they met her, that it was practically a given.
Still, she would watch him rather intently, furrowing her brow and trying not to show her amusement at the way he moved and the way he seemed to be behaving. However, after a few moments longer, she found that she was unable to stand it anymore...her small hand coming forth to grasp his bicep tightly enough to pull him to a stop, shaking her head in the process.
Then, assuming he had stopped, she would release him and reach down to grab up her notepad, once more writing down what she intended to say to him and then holding it out for him to read.
You know, it is okay. I can read lips just fine, you do not have to act so exaggerated for me. But thank you.
Her bright smile and brilliant hues turned upward in his direction once more as she would sign out her Thank you as well, giving a little nod in the process. Then, turning back to her notepad she would simply write down her name and again turn it in his direction.
Emma....
Smiling once more and then nodding in his direction, she would wait, hoping that he would get what she was meaning, though not sure if he was going to be one of those guys that couldn't quite get over the fact she was deaf or not. Some boys just couldn't handle that, and she was okay with it, but she really hoped that the first person she met wasn't also going to be the first person to think her weird or a freak or anything. That would just suck.

Eh? A small grasp at his arm seizing him to a stop. Big guys as Guy might be but in reality he was quite personable and not to mentions sensitive. LOL. Stopping long enough to run a case of curious eyes over her notepad making sure to follow with each etch of her pen figuring it out slowly enough.
"Ohhh... Okay, sorry." Still his words would appear a bit rotund, his mouth making sure to flex out a tad bit further to account for her reading level of his mouth gestures and all that. Not to mention he had a bit of that English accent only making it all the more difficult to read. "Guy, nice to meet you." (Guy pronounce Gui)
A tip of his hat this time around though offering up the place on his bicep that she'd grab to get his attention as an arm loop to semi-walk together instride. Guy hadn't been to the main office since his own entry day things must have changed quite a bit with all the violence going on. Soon enough they'd reach their destination Guy uncertain where to leave to if he should simply abandon her here.

Emma would watch his face intently, following the motions of his lips when he spoke and chuckling to herself in the process. She had a feeling he didn't move his lips quite that much when he normally spoke, but she didn't bother to say anything. She figured that once he loosened up a bit he would begin to talk more normally. Nodding a bit, she would lower her notepad, though keeping her hand ready to grab it should she need it.
As he introduced himself, she would furrow her brow just slightly, watching his lips and then slowly opening her mouth to try and mimic what he had said. "G..Guy?" She had absolutely no clue if she pronounced it right, but she had done the best she was ever going to do without seeing the phonics of it written down. Which, to be honest, she had done pretty well, almost getting it right, even if her tone had been a bit shaky due to the fact that she so very seldom used her voice.
Once she had said it, emerald hues would lift to his to see if she had gotten it right, though quickly enough she noted his arm being extended toward her. Brightly, she would seem to light up, looping her slender arm with his own and then snuggling herself into him slightly to avoid being run over by the other students going in the opposite direction.
Soon enough, they would arrive at their destination, her eyes looking up to the sign that signified this as the main office, before releasing his arm and turning back around so that she was now facing him. At first, her hands rose to sign what she wanted to say, but quickly enough she would remember he couldn't understand her, and would scramble to gather up her notepad, jotting down her words and turning it toward him once more.
Thank you Guy?? His name underlined several times, curious if she had spelled it right. I just have to drop off my registration papers real fast. Maybe you could show me where the English hall is after?
Once more he would be met with hopeful green eyes. She wasn't trying to take advantage of him, not by any means, but she had a feeling that if she didn't get a little help here, she was going to get lost really quickly. Not being able to hear people tell her where to go always the hardest part of getting used to a new place.

"Close enough."
He couldn't help but laugh, this wasn't the first instance in which he'd had his name mispronounced or butchered into oblivion. Guy had to relive his first days of class hearing nothing but the lame jokes about some movie star named guy or character or whatnot but the same repetitious pattern that left him to a degree worse for wear.
"Sure, I could try, if we get lost can call it an adventure."
A hand peeling off his hat before placing it to his chest and running a free hand through his hair rustling it a bit before offering up a kind smile and moving off to the side wall where there were a number of chairs. He didn't know how long this would take but honestly had so very little faith in the public schooling system.
"Be right here."

Emilia would tilt her head slightly, looking up at him as he spoke and wrinkling her nose a bit. So, she hadn't gotten his name right huh? Well, she would just have to work on it, perhaps get him to right it down properly so that she could see it and pronounce it in her head. Yet, when he pulled his hat off, running his fingers through his hair and agreeing to show her where she needed to go, she would light up once more. Again, she would sign the words Thank you. to him before rolling onto her tip toes and pressing a kiss to his cheek.
When she pulled away, landing her heels, she would grab up her notepad and jot down one last thing to show him before spinning around and heading into the office. I love a good adventure. That bright smile hard to ignore as she would giggle just slightly and pull open the door, slipping inside. He had taken a seat outside in those uncomfy chairs that they always had, and she hoped that she wouldn't have to keep him waiting too long.
However, half an hour later, after she had FINALLY dropped off the papers to the right person, she would begin to make her way back toward the door. She had pretty much convinced herself that he would be gone, not really expecting some guy she just met to wait around for some little deaf girl. A disappointed little sigh released as she shrugged her backpack up onto her shoulder and grasped the handle to the door pushing it open and stepping out....emerald hues looking toward the seating area, just that last bit of hope remaining that he would still be there.
If he was, he would receive a prewritten message right in front of his face. I am soooooo sorry! and a very apologetic look on her face looking down at him before he ever had a chance to stand up. Last thing she wanted was to make a bad impression on her first day.
