As the music played, she would sway her hips back and forth slowly rather lost in her own little world. She really did like music, as it was the one thing that seemed to keep her sane most of the time, though that didn't mean she wasn't paying attention to those around her. Nope, she was watching those that entered and those that were already here, her mind playing over who was who and which ones were the trouble makers.
Though one face in particular would draw a little smirk from her as she smoothed her hands over her outfit and then slipped her way through the crowd which was starting to form. Not really heading in any one direction just yet, but more or less seeing if she could eavesdrop on any sort of mischief making or what not.
Though, somehow or another she found herself sliding up alongside the refreshment table, her tongue grazing over her lips as her eyes scanned that familiar figure from head to toe. "Mmm...aren't you looking sexy as ever." Trying to keep the giggle out of her voice, though failing miserably at it, her hand reaching up and idly tapping Rick's hat as she tilted her head and then scanned her eyes over the table before her, lips pursing for a moment before she would fetch up a cooking to nibble and pick at...something to keep her hands busy and nothing more. "Have to admit, I didn't expect to see you here tonight."

Well, she had to hand it to her Mother. The woman had outdone herself this year for her birthday. She had been getting better though, over the years, with the whole blending of her birthday with the concept of Halloween. Every year, things seemed to get a bit more scary and a bit more.....dark. She didn't know if this years theme had anything to do with her Mother's current mood shift, but she had a feeling that it did.
More and more the woman had been detaching herself from the rest of the world. Before, she had been all about seeing Ruth, about making sure Kazumi was okay. Now? Well now she seemed to barely notice them at all. Add to that, the fact that she knew Kev hadn't been checking up on Zeke in his current living situation, and it was enough to show her that something was definitely wrong with her Mom.
But, for now, she tried to brush it off. No, she was here to show her support for the woman, even if it was unwarranted and unneeded. Her Corvette pulling up and parking along the road with the rest of the vehicles, the sexy little vampire would climb out and toss her keys into the glove box. Honestly, if somebody wanted to steal the damn thing, then more power to them. She had absolutely nowhere to stash the damn things with her costume.
Slowly making her way toward the tented area, fingers would glide over the back of one of the headstones, tracing it out slowly as she ran her tongue over her fangs which were, at this point, all too visible. Yeah, needless to say, she wasn't getting offers for any dates these days. But she didn't care. Men were scum as far as she was concerned. A rather irritated little growl escaping her as she flicked a nearby branch with her hand and ducked beneath it, stepping into the tented area and glancing around for her Mother.
Yet, soon as she saw her, she knew better than to interrupt. Uncle Gabriel was one button Kazumi did not care to ever push on her Mother's control panel. So, instead, she would make her way toward the area least occupied by people and busy herself texting the babysitter.

Legion looked up with a sense of ease, knowing that a pair of eyes were on him, not just a pair of eyes, the pair of eyes. Belonging to the only person who could calm him. The only person who could make him feel whole, make him feel like he had a soul. That he could be more then just this demon that he was. As his eyes turned to hers, he would take yet another step towards hers, feeling that sense of calm and peace just a bit stronger, losing a little bit more of the urge for suffering. A little smirk even crossing his face as their eyes would meet for but a second.
But that was all as her eyes would turn away, and he felt that same feeling within her the last time she saw, that boy, when he was around. Legion didn't even need to see him to know that it was him. Unclear if the message had actually gotten through, apparently not, it would seem. Anger rising even further with that blush from her. If it weren't for the mask on his face a disgusted sneer would be plastered across his face for the world to see. Anger rising as the rustling of the wind sent her taking another step closer to the boy. While Legion knew the truth, that it was only out of fear that she did so, he was no less angered by it. Wanting nothing more then to tear that boy's heart out, not blaming her for anything, but only him. Though he knew that he just couldn't do that here, now could he? That would be bad. Later though....
But he couldn't just walk away, or someone would really get hurt. So unfortunately enough he had to take a few more steps towards Azura so that she could burn of some of that anger before he could turn away, content that even though he was pissed, that he wasn't going to lose it. And even that wasn't a guarantee, the night was still young for Cael to die.
As he walked off his eyes scanned the crowd, pissed, just looking for something to do. Not entirely sure what, but something. Anything really. But when he came to a clearing he had to stop. There she was. That woman. Kazumi, the one he now knew to be the mother of his child. Not just intellectually, but memories that were actually his now. Though the idea of who Patrick O'Connor was was still hazy and somewhat disturbing, there were so many questions. Ones he desired the answers to, and at the same time didn't. But he did know this, at least factually, that Patrick O'Connor had chosen to love her, and apparently her him. So apparently this Patrick had to have a human side to him. But for the moment he was stuck in indecision on whether to approach her or not. Not sure he wanted the answers she could give him. Not sure that after the last time they met she would even want to...

Glancing around, Elijah's gaze would slide past over to Sapphira, whom had, once again, fallen down, though this time not due to her wonderful sister, but by... a tree branch. His gaze snapping back over to her, he'd grin slightly, and was about to make his way over, when he heard a light rustle issue from the bushes nearby, his grin fading slightly, though with the breeze blowing, it was hard to tell whether it was from the wind, or from something else...
Either way, he'd shake his head slightly, and make his way through the crowd.
"I think I said this before, the party venue would look so much better standing up."
A voice would laugh, if Sapphira looked up, she would see Elijah in front of her, his hand held out to her again.

Casually glancing around with a mild bored or a half-asleep look on his face, whichever one was interpreted first, his gaze would slide over Kazumi, only to slowly move back over to her. His brows furrowing slightly, he'd slowly turn to face the other way, pretending he didn't notice her, and with his back now to the crowd, he'd continue to keep his baseball bat resting on top of his shoulders.
Though with his slightly longer hair, it was a little harder to recognize the back of his head, which is why, as he began to turn his head slightly to look behind him, he heard the sounds of light rustling issue from the bushes nearby. His brows furrowing even more as his grip tightened slightly more on his bat, with the breeze blowing, it was hard to tell whether it was from the wind... Or from something else...

"I think I said this before, the party venue would look so much better standing up."
With smug discontent sapphira would shift her features upright into a snarky scowl at Elijah.
"Hah-Hah, very funny."
This time around however Sapphira would tend to propping herself up and coming of her own volition before shaking her head and tossing those brunette locks. Coming full circle her eyes would situate on him letting them cast over him once, twice, okay a third time mostly trying to understand whom he was.
"Now isn't the Death Star missing a storm trooper?"
/not a trekkie.
That's when the groaning would strike, her entire torso buckling to a full flung swish around behind her. Shoulders propped upright in aprehension sure that there was bound to be some sort of zombified corpse rising from the grave to drag her down. Teeth gnawing on the inside of her lip but back turned not to give away the slight timidity to dead things.
"Go check it out... I'm not dying."
Her elbow managing to strike at Elijah's ribcage little by little forcing him to go investigate.

Cael's eyes remained rather cold as they traced along her visage managing to pluck his lips into a tight embrace as though his perception of her was particularily curious, judging perhaps even. He studied her glowing rouge cheeks and was unphased, this was just another person fallen to his charm and a little drop in his chest for unbeknownst reasons regardless managed to fake a confident grin just the same.
Azura's bumping into his however changed that expression radically. A hand positioned on her hip motioning to essentially create a small distance between them and yet at the same time hold that resounding warmth that she apparently so craved.
"Not scared of a little bit of field mice are you?"
His eyes darting to hers somewhat daring, taunting in fact considering the simple measure of what she'd done to his house.
Why Garbiel was here, a matter still unclear however that was something he definitely liked about himself. Being forever the unpredictable being that appeared when you least expected and came to surprise you despite prior meetings. A sparkle in his eyes the same as his child-like predecessor years ago he'd waver but a moment turning his head and soon shoulder to meet with Kevala's. He didn't have much to say for the matter but knew the girl all too well. She wanted a confrontation, something to define what she thought, felt, needed to understand the way things worked. But that wasn't how the game worked. All these things were mere illusions Gabriel controlled to play the game.
"Hello," Lips puckered back into a thin drawn smile not seeking to elaborate further but letting his eyes slant off towards Kazuya before returning back to her. A small glimmer of a chuckle bound at the back of his throat not wanting to play anything quite yet.
"Before I forget, Happy Birthday."
He faitly remembered the last gift he'd given her and didn't really have anything to top it quite yet. Or did he? Again it was all a matter of playing his game.

"Oh you know me my dear sweet baby sister, what kind of Japanese citizen would I be if I did not dress as a ninja?"
Holding his hands up and shrugging his shoulders in mock exasperation, seeing Kevala shudder slightly and her shoulders straighten slightly, Kazuya knew only one person could ever make her react that way... and following her gaze as she glanced over her shoulder confirmed what he knew to be true. Feeling her grip his shoulder with her hand, his attention now drawn over to Gabriel, he would glance down over at Kevala briefly, raising one eyebrow at her.
"... My dear baby sister, I honestly cannot see myself even reaching the level of effect he has upon you. I do hope I will see you later though..."
And upon feeling her release his shoulder, Kazuya would quietly glide away, but not before giving a slight bow of his head in acknowledgment at his good friend and ally. Continuing to make his way across the dance area, he'd pause for a moment as his caught the sound of light rustling issuing from the bushes nearby, though with the breeze blowing, it was hard to tell whether it was from the wind, or from something else...

"Well it is good to see that you don't set your sights too high Kazy-pooh. But then, I think any man would be a fool to think they could compare to him." Her entire tone and manner of holding herself having changed, a little purr in her voice as she struggled to fill her lungs with air. She hated that he still had this affect on her, but faced with him now, she could do nothing to fight it. Well, perhaps that was not true, but just seeing him always tended to make her not want to, and so for now, she would simply fall gracefully back into old habits.
However as her arm looped about his own, managing, for the moment, to snag his attention, she could feel the rate of her heart speed up the instant she looked into his eyes. Gods how she hated that, the way a single look from him could make her knees want to give out. Her reaction to such always being to straighten herself out a bit more, to try and hold herself a bit more steady. It was her way of trying to combat the weakness she felt, and after all these years she did it so flawlessly that it would be hard pressed for anyone else to notice what she was doing
"Its not nice to laugh." Teasing little grin spreading across her features as her fingers idly traced over the front of his jacket. Nothing too flirty, as she knew well enough to behave herself, but she did so enjoy touching him, even if she had to be guarded with every move of her fingers. A quick glance toward Kazuya making her grin a bit wider as she cast those icy hues back up into Gabriel's own. "He has really taken a fancy to calling me his Dark Princess as of late...I have to admit it is rather lacking when compared to being spoken from your lips." The words spilling forth rather casually, shoulders rising and falling in a gentle shrug. "I simply tell him he is scared of you...which he of course denies. It is cute....almost." She wrinkled her nose a bit and would slowly slip her tongue forth across her lips, a casual little tick of her's that she did a bit more often whenever he was around.
Yet then he spoke up of her birthday, and though she might not have given much thought to the occasion herself, the fact that he said it meant a great deal to her, even getting those usually cold, icy hues to light up a bit, though her expression did not change much, if at all. "Well thank you...Seems you are the only one who has remembered this year." As was the case most years, save for Mischa of course. But the fact that he remembered was enough for Kevala.
Though, as this was going on, Cael would notice something against his foot, glinting in the lamplight over head. Upon closer inspection, it would be obvious that it was a clip, one used to hold money and within it would be two hundred dollar bills. Petty change to him really, but his for the taking if he so desired. The sound of rustling near him and Azura growing a bit heavier now, though it was still not enough to warrant any alarms or anything. No, it was just a very unsettling sound.
Rick on the other hand, completely distracted by his desire to partake in the cookies being offered, would be a bit too hasty in retrieving one. Not paying attention to the fact that it was an extremely stale one....so that when he bit into it, it would bite back, chipping a tooth and sending a jolt of pain through his jaw, though nothing too serious. However, what would be serious, was the fact that he would notice the sound of the wind starting to settle down, and yet the rustling in the brush off to his right only increasing....very odd combination if you ask me. Enough so that it rattles Azura into tripping backwards just a bit.
Meanwhile, Sapphira would win in her attempts to get Eli to check on the noise, seeing as how he was too distracted by her undeniable beauty to even put up a fight...that elbow to the ribs sending him stumbling forward toward the tree line, still caught up in his longing for her, though now able to get a better view of where that noise was coming from. Though it wasn't entirely clear, it would seem that there was something in the thick of the trees, and it seemed to be moving closer...however it didn't have a very defined shape just yet. But still, there was definitely something there.
As for Aryanna, Jace and Ryu, the sounds of the rustling in the trees would begin to get a bit too eerie, and would send a chill down their spines. However, they would still not know what to make of it. Yet, just beneath the sounds coming from the trees, there would be a faint foul odor beginning to waft into the air around them all, though for now, they were the only three to notice.
Legion, distracted by his blind jealousy over Azura's racing heart for Cael, would not hear or see anything out of the ordinary. In fact, he would just continue on as if nothing in the world was happening..though, deep down inside, that dark part of him would start to get a bit riled up, but for now it was hard to tell if it was because of something going on around him, or if it was because the green jelly monster was laying putrid eggs in his heart.
Poor Emma, she would be at a total loss here, not able to hear the creepy sounds and her current position making it so that she couldn't smell anything either, however as she wandered in, she would indeed bump into Cain, who WOULD be able to hear everything going on around them and who would also THINK he saw one of the tombstones move....Or was that just a trick of his imagination given the overly creepy surroundings they were in?
Kazumi? Well she was the last and final piece to this puzzle. Stepping onto the dance floor....from somewhere on the road, hidden within the shadows, a man, hooded in a black ski mask and wearing tactical gear, would raise his had to his ear where his earpiece rested. "Lock it down." The words so faint that they could not be heard over the music, though Kaz would swear she heard something just before she stepped within the party zone...but it could have just been the wind.
As for dear old Kazuya....he is now getting close enough to where Sapphira and Eli are to hear the sound of footsteps, though he isn't sure just yet if those are really footsteps or just the beat of the music...after all, what human could make steps that loud?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Post by Azura on Oct 2, 2012 1:00:19 GMT -6
Azura could feel Legion's jealousy and though she felt regret for him feeling such a thing, and she hated that he felt such rage, she would narrow her eyes upon him as that sense of murderous rage began to overwhelm her. A fiercely protective vibe radiating from her, toward him as she inched her way a little closer to where Cael currently stood, making her position on this matter all too clear. "Touch and I break every bone in your body."
She was still far enough away that that sense of love and need was not consuming her, and though she was not one to usually feel such violent emotions, her promise to the boy in front of her was far too important to let slide. However, the sound of rustling drew her attention back, causing her to bump into Cael, only to have his had press against her hip, nudging her away from him, and yet providing enough contact that she couldn't help but shiver softly.
Yet, it was his words that would draw the most reaction from her. A strong, defiant look filling those hazel eyes as they widened a bit, her shoulders straightening just slightly. "I am not scared!" Speaking up in her usual soft tone, though a hint of defiance clear within her words. But what came next, as the sounds grew louder, would have her stumbling backward away from them as her eyes shot to the area from which they came. Something was definitely off with this whole thing and though she was trying to play it cool, she was having a hard time doing such.
"I am...Well I am just not very used to this sort of thing." Steadying herself and reaching up to tuck a bit of her hair back behind her ears, her eyes glancing toward Cael's own as she would force a little smile and shrug. She wasn't about to let that look he gave her, or the sounds in the woods deter her...she was just, going to have to work really hard not to freak out or to do anything stupid....Like trip over herself again.
"Look....about the other night...." Her teeth capturing her lower lip softly as she tried to think of the right words to say....eyes diverting away from his for a moment before she would shrug softly. It was random, she knew, but it needed to be said. "I meant everything I said.....But I get it if you don't...you know...like me that way. It doesn't give me the right to treat you that way. Even if you were being...well....mean." She shrugged. She wasn't sorry for what she had said, nor did she wish to take any of it back, but she was sorry for how she had handled the situation all together. Even if he did deserve it. "I probably could have gone about telling you how I felt in a more appropriate manner." Probably not, but it was worth saying just the same. Still, the words "I am sorry" not daring to leave her lips, because to be honest, that would be a lie. She wasn't sorry, she just knew that she could have done it differently. That's all.
Her lower lip would jut out slightly as she pouted. He wasn't going to pay attention to her? But...But...She was dressed so cute and everything! Though, to be honest, his lack of response did make her a little worried about how she looked, worried that she was perhaps not pretty enough, not appealing enough, not....good enough. The thought of that making her stomach turn, though the smile ever fell from her face. No, she was far too practiced at keeping herself in that bubbly, cheerful and perky disposition.
The only real sign that she was worried being a minor glance down at her outfit, and her hand tugging ever so slightly at the skirt. Yet, once she had pretty much decided that she looked good enough, or at least, tried to tell herself she did, she would turn those eyes back on him with a bit more determination settling in her gaze. "What? Going to ignore me now?" Her head tilting slightly before a single hand would shoot out and swat him firmly on the ass.
Mmmm....She had been dying to do that since she met him. Though she would giggle almost instantly and jerk her hand back, her reflexes sending her a few steps back, fearful of some sort of backhand or something. Not that she believed Rick to be that type of person, but because it was what she knew.
Then came the sounds of the rustling around them growing louder, and she would retreat back toward him with a little chill running down her spine, her shoulder brushing up against him as she nervously looked about their surroundings, a little uncertain as to just what was going on, but starting to feel really creeped out by it. "Um...d..do you hear that?" The first real chink in her armor, you could say....that always happy exterior cracking for a moment as she let her nerves and her fear get the better of her.
Aryanna would catch the scent of something foul drifting into the air around her. Her nose wrinkling slightly as she felt her stomach turn and her breath hitch in her throat. Ugh..what the hell was that?! A little groan given as she slid her way through the crowd, trying to find Mitch, and stopping every now and again to say hi to somebody who was a bit starved for her attention.
Of course, as she moved to saunter past Cael she would pause, arching her brow a bit as she noted the redhead from the cheer squad inching her way up on him. Now, Ary wasn't jealous, because she knew she was better, but she still found it amusing that the pathetic little bitch thought she could ever get a guy like Cael. It was mildly amusing, at most.
"If you looked any better, I might just have to fuck you right here and now." Her body pressing up ever so softly against his back as she purred the words against his ear, not loud enough for the party goers to hear, but enough that the redhead would. A grin curling on her lips as oddly colored eyes met with the hazel ones of the other girl, daring her to say something and just waiting for that look of defeat she loved so much.
However, she would not wait long, not about to let herself linger when she had other things to be doing. "Enjoy your evening mon cher..." Breath washing over his flesh before she would pull away and disappeared within the crowd soon after, her attention pulled away from Cael and his current little play toy and once more focused upon finding her date for the evening.
Yet, no matter how much she tried, she could not shake the feeling of something eerie lurking in the air. A chill running down her spine at the sounds that came from the woods, the smell not making it any easier to brush aside. Though she would give it her all. As always.
Goddamn, he was bored.
He leaned back against the back of the tombstone, being respectful enough to at least not stop over the grave itself. He would glance around the vicinity, taking in the many sights that were available for him. Of course he would recognise a number among the crowd. The first would be Azure, the very first friend he had made in the school, and by far, the closest person he was with. Though they couldn't really be considered best friends, Cain nonetheless recognised her as a respectable individual, and she had gained a slender of his trust. At least, more than anyone else in this city had thus far. Before he could approach her, though, it seemed that someone else already had.
And the reaction that she gave screamed such obvious signs, even Cain could read it from this distance. It was a familiar sight, after all. All that blushing and nervous telltales upon her behavior. He blinked, before gazing at the man. He wondered how it was, but a single name echoed from the back of his head, resounding from a memory from when Azure and Cain had first met.
Cael?
Probably. But alas, he saw no reason to interfere with their conversations just yet, and simply continued to glance around. Another familiar face came within view, despite her Halloween costume. Sapphira, if Cain remembered her name right. He tilted his head. Would she recognise him, he wondered, the man wearing a mask and all. And then, the soft rustling sound was picked up by his sharp ears. His eyes widened, as he glanced over at the shoulder.
There wasn't supposed to be anyone behind him. He was already at the edge of the party. He stared into the shadows, trying to pick out any silhouettes or movements, but alas, nothing seemed off. He blinked, before giving a soft shrug. Must have been just the wind. Just as he was about to turn back to the center of the party, though, the rustling would come again. And then, at the corner of his eye, he noticed a hint of movement. Behind his mask, his eyes widened as he stared at the object in question.
"D'fuck?" Cain whispered to himself, as he stared at the tombstone. Was he seeing things now? He took a step back, thinking it to be his imagination simply playing tricks on him, only to find himself being bumped into. He yelped slightly, his body turning to face the disturbance, his hands reaching out to grab onto something to hold onto, as he tripped against a pile of dirt, falling backwards. And the first thing he found himself reaching for was her arm.
The beauty and the curse of being deaf is that she was blissfully unaware of everything that was going on. All the creepy sounds, all the rustling and the moaning and what not...it was lost on her. She was more interested in eyeing the faces of the people that surrounded her. She didn't know most of them, but that was the point of being here, to learn and to get to know people. Right? The idea making her a little happy, to be honest. After everything that had been going on at home, this was a much needed break and she fully intended to make the most of it.
However, she was not completely oblivious to what was going on, seeing the unease that settled into some people's faces. Seeing the look of disgust as people seemed to either see or smell something unpleasant. It was a tad bit confusing, and as she furrowed her brow slightly, she would edge her way closer to the other members of the party. She wanted to know what was going on, because if it was serious, she really needed to know. It wasn't like she could hear like everyone else and escape any danger that was coming her way if she didn't see it.
But, alas, she would not make it far. A sudden hand about her arm causing her to yelp out in both surprise and fear....the surroundings not helping to make her less jumpy. Though she didn't have time to really think about why she was being so jumpy, seeing as how the hand that grabbed her, belonged to a boy, who was currently in the midst of falling. One thing was for sure, he had picked the wrong thing to grab onto to try and maintain his balance, the girl being about as incapable of holding up his weight as possible. Though, she would of course try..not in any real hurry to fall over herself.
"Aw c'mon Sapphira, don't be like that. If I was dressed as a Storm Trooper from Star Wars, then I'd agree with you, but I'm not, I'm Captain Kirk from the Star Trek movie."
Seeing Sapphira's shoulders prop up in apprehension, a slight frown appearing on his face, before Elijah could make heads or tails of why she suddenly stiffened up, the sounds of groaning would reach his ears, and before he knew it, he would find himself elbowed little by little and end up wandering too close to the forest.
"Ow ow ow, hey! Sapphira, if I die, I swear, I'll come back to haunt you."
Well now that he was here, no backing down... as much as he wished he didn't have to. Activating his Qi, he'd quickly take off at 80 km/h in the direction the noise came from. Though it wasn't entirely clear, there seemed to be something in the thick of the trees, and though it did not have a defined shape, it was clear it was moving closer and closer.
