She had to admit, she had expected there to be more people trying for the position of Headmaster by this point. But then, the school was just starting out and she knew that the general populace tended to be a bit on the lazy side. It was annoying really. What did they think? That she was going to do the job for them? Ha! The thought was laughable at best.
Sure, she had taken this position with the intent of creating a better learning environment that she could feel secure in placing her children in, and because it looked good on her and kept her in a positive light when it came to the people of New York. A very handy thing indeed when one had the kind of hobbies that Kevala herself had. But had she intended to do actual work? Pft. No.
It wasn't that she hated work. In fact she did more than her fair share of it since before she even graduated high school. Back then, she had to in order to support herself, and then, when she had come into a great deal of money, it had become something more out of sheer boredom than anything. Not to mention, she had always felt the need to stay active and pretend to be as normal as possible, just to keep eyes off of her and the questions to a minimum.
Now, well now she was owner of seven different art galleries, two of which were based over seas and all of which she had built from the ground up. She had also taken on a silent partner role in Katashi Industries Chemical and Biological department, and now was Superintendent of one of the larger schools to be built inside the state of New York.
So no, it was not that she didn't like work, it was just that when she saw an opportunity to be lazy, she took it, and as Superintendent, she saw plenty of room for such. It was simple really, hire a Headmaster, allow him or her to oversee things within the school, and step in only when it was absolutely needed. Simple as that. But noooo, people just had to go and make it difficult for her. Making her work to maintain what order was needed while she waited for an application to cross her desk.
Which, much to her delight, had happened just yesterday. It had seemed that the History teacher, Alistair Warden, was open to trying to obtain the position....and though Kevala did not know much about the man, she was more than willing to give him a shot. Granted, it had taken quite a bit of self control not to ask the other teachers about him, trying to prevent herself from becoming persuaded one way or the other by outside influence. For a woman who had such a curious nature, such as herself, it was damn near impossible. But, she had managed.
Now, sitting behind her desk, dressed in a pair of black slacks and a white button up blouse, she had her hair pulled up and pinned atop her head, a few strands falling around her face. Attire very different from what most people would expect to see her in, bt then, Kevala did have her days where dressing appropriate didn't seem so bad....Those icy hues scanning over a few things that required her signature, mostly to approve various supplies for the medical ward and other such things. The man's file sitting off to her right, untouched. Again, she was trying to hold off any judgement before actually meeting him. Crazy as she might have been, or so they said she was, she was a rather responsible and reasonable person when it came to matters of business. Or so she liked to tell herself she was.
A glance toward the clock as she pushed her glasses back up onto her nose and would let out a little sigh. She had left a message in his box in the office that she would have her meeting with him today at 4 P.M, once school was out and most of the kids had left. Now, with the time growing near, all she could really do was wait and see if he would be on time or not.

Prompt, as ever. Alistair Warden would show up to the Superintendent's Office without a second to spare wrapping his knuckles against the door before waiting on a reply and letting himself in no doubt quickly exchanging glances with the woman who was his apparent superior whether he got the position or not. It was always something of an interesting observation what people did to deal with his height issues normally they flipped out becoming unkept with erratic behavior. Like they hadn't seen a little person before.
As it were Ali would make quick not that the woman known as Kevala Badoer was attractive to say the least and presented herself in a very business-like mannerisms holding everything seemingly neat and in their respective places. Which begged the question; was she the closet case type needing this organization to keep her life in order, or was it all a guise. He found himself all the more curious however would not grin or smirk to reveal such intentions. He was a blank slate to be molded with.
"Alistair Warden, a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Badoer."
His hand would be offered around the table as opposed to over it seeing as he'd need to get up on the chair to do so and had been taught common courtesy to be offered a seat before taking it. Ali had yet to get any position and therefore felt as though it was unwarranted to expect anything without the same generous exchange of courtesies.

She heard the knock to the door and a brow would raise slightly, those eyes glancing to the clock, noting the time and making a mental note that he had been on time. Which of course, that proved in his favor. With Kevala, every little detail mattered. "Come in." Spoken clearly enough in that smooth southern accent, her hand moving to set aside the pen that had been in her hand and pushing the current documents out of her way.
Though when he entered, well, Kev found herself very thrown off. Her first thought being that she really should have looked at his file before hand, because right now, she was at a complete loss on what to think. She had never actually met a midget before. Though instantly, as the thought crossed her mind, she realized that was not the politically correct term. Fuck!
"What do you call them?"
Why are you asking me?
A laugh resounding in the back of her mind.
"You are no help."
Struggling to think of the right word even as he came around to offer a hand to her. Quickly trying to regain her composure she would offer her hand in return, though naturally she was still lost on the thought that he was applying for the headmaster position and of course, on the fact that this was a first for her. Sure, she had seen them on tv and stuff, heard about them, but never actually met one and for somebody like Kev, meeting was completely different as opposed to seeing on a screen. "Lovely to meet you Mr. Warden."
Her tone remaining as calm as ever, even as there was a sudden shout from the demon within her mind.
Little person! Thats what you call them!
Oh thank the Gods. She had been worried there for a moment that she wouldn't be able to recall. "Please, have a seat." She would motion to the chair in font of her desk, the need to make a snarky little remark bubbling up inside her and causing her to bite down upon her tongue to hold it back. She had to behave, she had to....."Sorry to call for this meeting on such short notice..." Okay, so she tried. She failed. But she tried just the same, a small chuckle escaping before she quickly shut it off. Her hand coming up in an apologetic fashion. "I..am sorry. You will have to forgive me, I failed to look at your file prior to this meeting so I have to admit I am a bit thrown off. Do excuse me." She was trying to remain as nice and polite as possible, but the immature side of her wanted to come out, oooooh so badly.

"Why thank you," Alistair would respond moving to shift the chair and fit himself in it. As soon as he had the man's hand would palm over to pat down and adjust the suit he was wearing finally settling politely into his lap like some Christian school girl.
He'd crack a grin as small joke as the super made a point to get all the short jokes out of her system sitting back having expected much worse in all honesty however waiting aback to feel the full torrential fallout take place. This wasn't his first parade.
"Sorry for what?" Ali would respond nonchalantly shifting a brow upwards taking into the context of course that she was making jest at his position however feigning ignorance perhaps to play dumb to the situation, preserve his strength in the sight of adversity, or opt to give his superior the advantage of having a second chance being surprised and all. Maybe a combination of them all.
Despite being the bigger man in this situation he doubted it would ever be seen like that to any other party simply situated back awaiting for the questions to come. Alistair honestly wondered what such a woman could ask of him. Sure he wasn't the strongest match for the position, nor the intimidating pillar of force but he knew this system from years of being oppressed by it.

She was not trying to blatantly be rude, at least not this time. Usually she didn't care, but this was sort of her job and if it meant that she had to try and be a bit more mature than she normally would have cared for, then so be it. Yet when he seemed to feign ignorance, for whatever reason, she would grin slightly and arch a slender brow in his direction. "Oh, I am more than certain you know what it is I am apologizing for." She was not going to jump to conclusions here and assume that he was pretending not to know for the sake of humoring her. No, she was trying to be not as judgmental as she typically tended to be, though it was hard. Very hard.
"Well, then, I suppose we should get down to the matter at hand before I lose what composure I have managed to maintain and say something that would be deemed otherwise inappropriate." Yes, inappropriate. Not something she would be sorry for, but something that she knew most would not like for her to say. Kev was not often sorry for much of anything she said, she just knew that society tended to judge harshly on such things.
"So, I suppose the most obvious question would be why you feel that you could handle such a position as that of the Headmaster." She would lean back in her chair, her hands folding across her stomach as she let those icy hues scan over him. Despite the fact that she was thrown off, greatly, by the size of the man before her, and despite the fact that she was dying to say something about it, she was not really judging him based upon that one single feature.
No, she had a set list of criteria that she was looking for in the Headmaster, and nobody was beyond meeting those requirements, not even him. "And please spare me any generic speech that one would expect to hear in regards to such a question. I am a woman who much prefers brutal honesty to some lame attempt to kiss my ass." Yes, well, she could only be so professional. This was Kevala after all, and no matter how much she may try to blend into normal society, she would never exactly fit. Square peg in a round hole you could say.

Alistair would simply grant her a blank response. So she was the type to illicit trouble a wonder as to why she didn't want to be the headmaster of this school she liked to play games and upset people. He could grin if he wasn't trying so hard to maintain his pocker-face. Then she shifted to the matter at hand, good he was quite ready to be past the little people jokes. Enough for one lifetime.
Why could he handle the position of headmaster? Alistair would think long and hard, perhaps not too long or too hard given his sizeable intelligence but he'd rift it and consider the things he was to say. Though having her cut him short of his original answer he'd finally part for a toothy grin in response shaking his head slightly to reformate his speech.
"Ever heard the saying 'speak softly, but carry a big stick'?" Alistair would start finding his toothy grin curl upwards to express the fundamentals of what he'd have in mind, "Well its quite what I'd have in mind for my status as Headmaster, you see I'm not one to drivel on about status for one but I imagine my words could have a strong effect on keeping your pillars in line... benefits rather than punishments perhaps to keep them from turning their frustrations in on the students."
Alistair mused to himself grinning silently before offering a hand out to gift her the response to his little idea on the matter.

She stayed quiet, letting him tell her his idea. She had to admit that it was a good idea, one she had thought of herself in the past, though this was her first chance to be in a position to allow for such a thing to happen. "I have been in this system for many years, even held the School Captain title once, and in my experience, these kids tend to get the title and then decide they don't need to do anything with it. Sadly they think that their ability to fight is the only] thing that matters."
She rolled her eyes slightly, shaking her head as she let her mind wander over everything else she wished to say. "Rewards are indeed a good method of keeping them in line, though I know that there are some who remain lazy regardless what hand outs you offer them. My concern, aside from them not fulfilling their day to day duties, is how they, and you should I give you this position, handle times of crisis. Because, let's be real, in a school like this, there cannot be sunshine and roses every day. Bad, horrible things happen and I need to be sure that you would be able to maintain a level head during those times." Yes, because experience had taught that the pillars, as much as they might try, were unable to do so. Oh, they talked a good game, a few even came up with some very decent plans, but their commitment to see those plans through always faltered and fell through. Irritating really.
"I am a woman who likes there to be a sense of order. It makes the chaos that arises easier to handle. Do you think that you could manage to at least attempt to maintain order among the pillars and the rest of the school?" Yes, this was why Kevala's office was so damn neat and tidy. Everything had a place and if you moved something, she noticed. She liked this little bit of control in her otherwise chaotic life even though she knew that it was a very fragile thing to hold onto.

Alistair would let her speak and quickly gathered the type of school she wanted out of all this. Kevala probably came from a very damaged school one of bloody torment and chaos that was run by gangs and monsters and the likes to which Alistair was rarely exposed to. Not only that but the consideration and fear of the pillar's abuse left a stained montage in the man's mind. He was bound to make sure something like that never happened at least under his control.
Then came the question. A thought struck his mind and he felt glad that he'd brought along his bag of tricks so to speak to get his point across. What he was about to do was a monstrous risk but one he felt was a necessity. Having met any other type of person he might second guess himself but Ali felt as though he knew just how Kevala would respond.
"The best that I can offer," his right hand would shuffle into his coat pocket pulling out a lighter, his left proceeding to do the same pulling out a chain linked band of what appeared to be multi-colored sticks, "is to keep them on their toes."
*Flick*
Ssssssssssssssssssssss
*Crack-BOOM*
The fireworks were tossed beneath Kevala's desk before resounding with an audible clash nearly knocking Alistair off his feet and backwards from the scene. His hands instinctively prompted upwards to cover his ears responsive to appeal to her reaction either appologetic or with a clever disposition.

She wasn't sure what he was up to, but she knew he was up to something. Had she known, she would have warned him ahead of time that her and things that contained the word "fire" did not get a long well. Not to mention, in all her years, Kevala had never taken the time to get an up close and personal look at fireworks. Oh, she knew what they were, had seen them at a distance many times, but in her mind, they were fiery lights that blew up in the sky and made crackling noises. The reasons that people oohed and aaahed over them was lost on her. Therefore, she had never seen reason to get close to them.
Yet, suddenly, she found herself much closer to them than she would have liked. Watching as he lit them and then tossed them under her desk. For a woman who had an overwhelming fear of fire, she was out of her chair and away from her desk in an instant, the sound of the fireworks going off making her tense slightly, and without thinking grab the nearest lamp and hurl it at his head. "Chaos is not something I want in my office you Willow reject!"
She tried her to hide the visible tremble in her fingers as she reached out, grabbed class vase and tossed it...again...at his head. "Me and fire do not mix!" Yes, for all her wishing to have control, and for her ability to maintain such in most situations, fire was just one of those things that seriously threw her off her game, the hand print still burned into her flesh from her time spent at PHS #259. "What does any of ...of that have to do with your ability to run my school and keep it from falling down around all our heads?!" Explaining would be good right now. Very good. Especially since she was currently looking for some kind of sharper, more deadly weapon to use. Those eyes no longer their icy blue color but more a mixture of crimson and black.

Williow Reject? He'd never heard that one before and kindly give a small tug at the corner of his cheeks to appreciate the creativity in name calling as he was called into question. In that instant however Kevala would reveal more about herself, intentional or otherwise.
"THAT! Is exactly what we need, your pillars, hell even your students will get far too lax, too tense with that anger, the inability to do their jobs or communicate due to easy going pauses in life. Now if a pair of armed gunman were to come through that door right now your likelihood of dealing with them would be greatly intensified. Why?"
He'd pause to give his breath a hasty hitch and mention his glance and posture to Kevala's quick defensive stature.
"Because you're on your feet, ready for anything. Sure fear mongering it might be called but better to have them ready for conflict than sitting in the wings as though they were victims. I believe the term is sitting ducks.."
Alistair would grin widely this time much more toothy as he pressed away from the table coming to a stand and pacing around the floor of the room.
"Now Mrs. Badoer you may see nothing more in me than half a man or better yet a child based on my stature but what I can contribute to your school is a knowledge and experience of a tormented past and a prepared future."

She wanted so badly to stab him with something, but currently her knife set was locked away in the bottom drawer of her desk and that would take too much time to get to. What saved him, was that his logic, however twisted it might have seemed to some, did indeed make sense to Kevala.
Sure, she wasn't happy about that little display, nor would she be any time soon, but for the most part she got what he was trying to get across to her. Though upon his final words, she would give a little scoff, particularly offended by the fact that he would think she judge him based upon his size. "Though I understand what you are trying to get across to me, and I am inclined to agree with you, do not make assumptions upon me. I may seem like I don't care about things, and if you must know the truth, I don't really...well not to the degree that most people think I should...But that does not mean that I am narrow minded."
She would hesitantly move to take up her seat once more, eyes cautiously glancing under her desk to make sure that nothing else was going to blow up close to her or any such thing. "I did not read your file or ask about you from the other staff because I wanted to form an unbiased opinion of you. True, your stature has thrown me off guard slightly, seeing as how you are the first.......little person....to ever directly cross my path. But that does not mean I hold it as some sign of your inability to perform the tasks I have laid before you. If anything, the fact that you applied for this position, even with your stature being somewhat lacking....would almost require that I show to you a bit of respect. A bit mind you...For respect is not something I had out freely. It is something that is earned."
Yes, she was a strange woman, but respect meant everything to her. Respect and loyalty. Probably why she had only ever given her loyalty to one other person in this life and why he still had it to this day. "I need you to understand though, that your actions as Headmaster would reflect directly upon my own as Superintendent. I cannot have you running around and creating a bad name for yourself or this school, for I will not have my name drug through the mud more so than it has been in the past." She arched her brow, leaning back in her seat and folding her arms over her stomach, those icy hues trained upon him. "Do you think you could keep that in mind while running with these wild tactics of yours?"

Alistair would nod, he did not intend to point out or illicit that Kevala was a judgmental person but rather that it was just a side effect of his stature a sort of stigma as prevolent as race, ethnicity, or sex. Though he did appreciate the effort by not delving into his personal records, like there was anything that she could find blemeshing it aside from a mentality of trouble-making amongst his peers. But much as he'd seen out of this system it bred that sort of people, he was a different breed not graced with the same advantages they did.
"And that I can very much empathize with Mrs. Badoer, I will make just assured that you will not feel the reprocussions for my actions."
Wild tactics however could not be divergent. His intent however required a bit of wild tactics, to remain unpredictable and keep the element of surprise some things would have to be kept from the public eye, some bullets need be taken, and some rules broken.

She would nod. She had pretty much all she really needed to know on the matter. Sure, there was probably a whole host of questions that a normal person would have asked, but luckily for him, Kevala was anything but normal. She was a woman who measured people based upon their actions more than their words, and though what he had done had scared her and quite honestly pissed her the fuck off, she could not help but be a tad bit impressed by them.
Also, as stated, she could respect the man for even attempting to gain this position in a school such as this given his size and obvious limitations that had been forced upon him through no fault of his own. Therefore, she felt that it was easy enough to make her decision on the matter. "Very well then. You have the job. Though be warned, that I will be keeping a close eye on you and your pillars. Should a situation arise, I will bring it to your attention. Failure to mend this issue will result in immediate termination."
She was not one to be moved on the issue. She was very clear on her rules regarding this position since it was one of the things she took very seriously in this school. "Also be aware that at times other teachers have the chance to apply. This does not mean they will get it, and unless you give me just cause to think you incapable of the position, then I will not be relieving you of your duties. But that does not mean there will not be attempts by others to make you appear less than competent."
She would stand, leaning over her desk and extending her hand, making adjustments to her behavior for the difference in their sizes, knowing all too well what it was like to be the small one in a world of giants....Perhaps not to his degree, but still, the general idea was there. "You will report to me once a month with news of the school, updates and what not. If anything of severity should arise, you know how to contact me. Do we have a deal?" If he was alright with this, then she would hand him a file containing all the rules pertaining to the Headmaster position and his duties as such. "I look forward to working with you Mr. Warden."

All went better than expected, he got the job out of what would probably be earned from sheer risky attitude. Alistair could almost find himself laugh from the experience however catching himself short hiccuping into a genial grin to edge across the table and offer up a single palm to shake her hand despite hearing the admission of a warning gestured towards his position, the warning too that he was supposed to be prevolent in his position or elsewise get it revoked.
"As with you Mrs. Badoer, I intend not to disappoint."
A childish sense of grandeur set forth in his step before skipping down and off out of the room giving a corteous wave to the superintendant before making his way out the door. Time to assemble his metaphorical avengers.
