Hmm, this new school was proving to be rather interesting, well, at least so far, even for Kevala. But then, to her, this was just one big game that she got to keep playing day in and day out. There was something different about being the Superintendent compared to just a simple, run of the mill teacher...and though Kev didn't usually like to take the forefront in positions of power, she wasn't incapable of doing so. In fact, she usually handled herself pretty well.
Though, she had assumed that she wouldn't need to be dealing with the more trivial matters of the school, seeing as how she had been told she would be more the silent head of operations while the headmaster took care of the more....mundane tasks. But, alas, she had not yet been able to appoint a headmaster, and therefore, she was forced to tend to certain things that needed tending to. Namely, the pillars.
Had it been any other school, she would have been content with there simply being no pillars, seeing as how she had always had a bit of an issue with the lazy little pricks that typically took up the titles...But, since she was the one in charge here, she wasn't about to let such matters slip and in turn make herself look bad.
So, here she was. Dressed in a pair of black yoga pants and a white tank top. She wasn't going to fight, Gods no...but she was going to dress the part, if for no other reason than the simple fact that it made the most sense. "Alright boys, rules are pretty basic. Street fight, best man wins and gets the title. Oh, and try not to kill each other."
A little shrug given as she would move to take a seat at the top of the bleachers so that she could observe this little spectacle. The red tie that would be awarded to one of these young men dangling, for now, about her neck. If she could, she would have held it above their heads just to see who would jump the highest. Sadly she could not, so, this would just have to do.
OOC: This will likely be my only post for Kevala until the end of the fight. If I feel the need to post anything in between, I will do so, don't bother waiting on me.

"Alright boys, rules are pretty basic. Street fight, best man wins and gets the title. Oh, and try not to kill each other."
"Good luck," Patrick nodded to the other kid in his thick irish accent. He was no longer feigning to be Daniel Heart anymore. Hell he had registered here, not an hour ago for classes, once again as a high school/college student combo. Apparently in his little rampage across New York state he had forgotten about an assignment or two, causing him to fail some classes. Funny, this had to be the longest high school run ever. Focus hadn't really been on studies the last few years and lucky for him he was getting another chance, in two regards. Apparently "trying" circumstances were allowing him to take his last chance yet again. The faceless people he was working for? Turns out he had done them a little favor with his little rampage. And money certainly didn't hurt in helping the school look the other way.
But that still didn't explain why he was here. About to fight for a title in a new school literally the first day he got here. Well that was simple. He had walked into the office and after registering for classes he asked who the student captain was. Didn't really intend on taking his title, just challenging him to a fight. Some might call his intentions pillar breaking, but if they did, that was their prerogative.
And so now Patrick stood in front of the boy, wearing a black tanktop, that allowed for the scars on his left arm show along with the tips of the wings carved on his back. Also with his khaki cargo shorts there was a very distinctive circular scar on his left shin, though it was unlikely that any student here would be able to identify what exactly that came from. On his hands Patrick wore black fingerless gloves. His green eyes stared down his opponent, vision no longer blocked as he kept his hair short now, and let it grow out to it's natural color. He had kept it this way ever since his little rampage. Patrick didn't see the point in hiding his identity anymore, he had outed himself to all his enemies anyway. This shortened hair also drew more of a presence to the scar on his face, the one that ran down from his right eyebrow past his nose, bisecting the eye.
Patrick took his stance, a right handed boxer's stance. Weight on the balls of his feet, knees bent, left foot forward. His chin was tucked. Hands up at mouth level, elbows pointing down. His hands, now those were the only think that differed from a boxer's stance. His palms were facing out, towards the other boy. That was the only difference though. Patrick quickly gauged the range, currently Patrick was in the middle of the gym, out of striking range of his opponent. But facing the bleachers he couldn't help but notice a crowd of people forming on the bleachers. Good, the stage was set for what Patrick intended to do, all that was left to do was perform.
"Oh look, a crowd's forming," Patrick chuckled to the other kid, "Might as well give them a good show."

Not long after, Shane would come bouncing in, his headphones clamped on his ears and rocking an epic air guitar solo. Instead of his usually blue jeans, band t-shirt and long sleeved shirt underneath, today Shane wore his training clothes. Pulling his headphones off, he'd place them and his mp3 player down on the bleachers, it was a pretty cheap pair of headphones and an old mp3 player model, but they still worked, so hey, no point in getting new ones just yet. Taking up a loose, simple stance, his feet spread apart evenly with his right foot out in front and his foot behind, his right fist held in front of his chin and his left hand held in front of his torso, he'd nod at the Superintendent and then grin at the guy before him, if it was a show his opponent wanted to give to the crowd, then Shane would gladly deliver. "You ready broski? Let's do this!"

Kid was one eager son of a bitch. Patrick noted, not really taking a particular stance on the kid yet. He was pumped up to say the least. It had been a long time since Patrick had gotten worked up for a fight like he did. But then again, there were very few fights in recent memory that he had been apart of "for the hell of it". The vast majority being life or death struggles, where meant that the other guy didn't walk away. No, it had been quite a long time indeed since Patrick had actually enjoyed a fight, much less took one for the sake of a friendly match, which this seemed like it had the potential to be. Only problem was Patrick wasn't here to be friendly, not to this kid, not to anyone. Hell, Patrick was only going to fight today for number one. There were no grandiose notions of defending the school or its student body. This was for him and him alone, sure that was an attitude that may have gotten him in trouble a few times but all that seemed irrelevant now. With nothing holding him back or tying him down he had to start looking out for himself some time.
Patrick watched him take his stance, simply observing him for now. The irishman wasn't simply going to jump into a fight without knowing anything about the kid. Sure he, wasn't going to get all the information from looks but it was a start. First and foremost Patrick noted that the kid was a southpaw. Interesting enough, that had its own set of advantages and disadvantages, real question was, did the southpaw know what they were? With his hands in the position they were Patrick had to think that he was some kind of striker, even more so with his hand's position Patrick would wager a guess that the kid had some speed behind him. How much? Only time would tell.
"Ready when you are," Patrick would return with a slight grin forming, bidding him to come forward. Okay, maybe Patrick was beginning to feed off the kid's energy...

"Well alright then!"
Shane called back cheerfully, blocking out the sounds of a crowd forming behind him, nothing but white noise man, nothing but white noise. Focusing solely on the guy, who was a good couple inches taller than Shane, he ran straight at him. Although Shane normally did not rely on pure strength alone, today, he was going to go for brute force.
When he got near Patrick, Shane lifted up his right leg and tried to slam it out towards the center of Patrick's chest. No fuss, no fancy moves, just a straight heel kick to the solar plexus.

The great thing about being attacked was that you could focus solely on reacting. The better thing about having your opponent rush you head on at a run was that they couldn't stop on a dime, newton's laws and all. Patrick would say this much for the kid though, he was fast and it looked like he had a considerable amount of strength, something that the irishman was about to find out relatively soon. As disappointing as it was it dictated Patrick's strategy, which seemed to be how most of his fights that had been purely unarmed seemed to be going lately.
As the kid came in Patrick would step forward with his right foot, switching to a left handed stance where his right foot would lead. One of the benefits to growing up on the street as he had was he had never had the luxury of picking a dominant hand, so either stance was just as comfortable to him. This would happen in the moments before the kick arrived, but Patrick wasn't content with a simple change in stance. No, as Patrick stepped forward with his right foot he stepped slightly to the right a few centimeters. It wasn't enough to completely avoid the attack, but enough to make it a grazing blow. The kid was fast after all.
Shane's inertia from the run and force behind his kick would ensure that as the kick hit the side of Patrick's ribs it would graze him, sliding by. This of course was what Patrick wanted. As the kick would strike his side Patrick's left forearm would swing down, allowing him to wrap his left arm around the kid's leg, just below the knee, pulling the leg into his side tightly as his arm came under pinning itself to Patrick's stomach just below his sternum. As Patrick wrapped his arm around the kid's leg he pressed forward, pushing off with his left leg, stepping forward with his right. His left leg would follow pulling itself up. Initially this was to get the kid moving backwards and off balance on one leg as Patrick tried to snake his way up the kid's leg to the knee, which shouldn't be hard seeing as the kid's clothes offered little in the way of resistance. As Patrick did this he was ever conscious to keep his right arm up to make sure that he didn't let any unnecessary punches through, no matter how much the strength of them was lacking due to the kid not having a base.
After a step forward Patrick would step in one more time in the manner previously described, though this time he would place his right leg behind the kid's left leg. Upon doing this Patrick would slam his right forearm into the kid's chest pushing forward as he hooked his right leg behind the kid's left knee, kicking backwards to not just push him over, but rip him off his remaining foot with an inside trip, throwing him flat on his back on the hardwood floor. And if Patrick was particularly lucky Shane's head would bounce off the floor.
But Patrick wasn't contend to just throw him on the ground. Patrick would follow him down, forearm planted firmly on the kid's chest so that not only would he be thrown to the ground Patrick would land on top of him, forearm crushing into his chest. Likely, that would give Patrick a free moment as the force would force the air out of the kid's lungs. Regardless of whether or not the kid was stunned for a moment Patrick would still capitalize on his advantage in positioning sitting up on his knees, which would now be on both sides of the kid's hips. After he postured up Patrick would use his left hand to punch the kid in the face, leaning in slightly using the weight he had from being on top and in a better leveraged position. After the punch Patrick would follow up by swinging his right elbow across the kid's face leaning in further with this attack to get more of his weight into the blow and twisting to the left getting his torso into the action. Patrick would be targeting just above the kid's left eye, intending for the blade of the elbow to cut open the kid's face so that the many capillaries of the head would bleed into the kid's eye. With both of these ground strikes there was a fairly good chance that the kid's head would hit the floor causing more damage to him, with the chance for that happening slightly higher with the elbow though.
But above anything else, even the strikes Patrick would be controlled in his actions on the ground and getting there. Patrick's main goal was to take and keep this fight on the ground...

After his initial kick Shane went to pull his leg back, having just grazed the side of his opponent, but as he saw his opponent's body move and went in to grab Shane's leg with his left arm, instinct set in and Shane immediately jerked his leg back and attempt to firmly plant his foot down on the ground, and given that he was faster than his opponent, Patrick would most likely end up grabbing nothing but air. Too slow bro, too slow.
If he succeeded in pulling his leg back, seeing his opponent's right arm held up to block any possible incoming punches, Shane would pull back, putting some distance between the two of them, going back into his previous stance. This time, Patrick would have to come to him, not the other way around.
If Shane did not succeed in pulling his leg back, but found his leg pinned, instinct would still set in, but this time, he brought up his opposite leg by jumping up and turning in his opponent's grasp, aiming to strike Patrick in the side of the face. The maneuver was risky, but it would prevent Patrick from tripping him up, which Shane did not expect, and executing his follow-up moves, even if it caused Shane other issues.
After the turning kick, Shane would land on the floor of the gym on his chest. A solid thud would be heard on impact, followed by a loud 'oof', but this wouldn't stop Shane, he had felt worse before. It was doubtful Patrick would still have a hold on his leg, so Shane would waste no time and scramble to his feet, as fast as he could, his eyes focused on Patrick and ready to react if Patrick had chosen to rush at him to strike.

Patrick did end up catching the leg, not because he was super quick, but because he was able to adequately react to the kid's first attack, where he had thrown too much of himself out there at once. Maybe if he hadn't of ran into the kick he would have been able to bring it back in, but then again, Patrick's catch had taken minimal movement, meaning that speed wasn't as huge a factor. Besides, while the kid did have a significant speed advantage over him, it wasn't like the kid was the flash compared to him, in fact Patrick could read, predict and react to attacks faster then this guy. Though Patrick had to hand it to him, it was a significant advantage he held. The same logic would hold true for the kick that the kid was trying to through. Where as the kid's kick had to come up and around to strike him in the head, which was pretty near impossible as Patrick was holding the kid's leg at his knee, but Patrick considered any attack a threat so he didn't count him out. But back to the main point the kid's leg had to get all the way up and around to get a shot at his head, fairly circular. All Patrick really had to do was put his right hand down as the kid was jumping up, placing it just on his left leg, under the crotch area. The beauty of this was that any strike really, but in particular a kick relied on a lot of leverage, which meant touching the attacking limb anywhere above the knee wouldn't really doing anything, with less strength the further up the limb you got. That being said where Patrick put his hand wouldn't hurt his hand. And yea, the kid was faster then him so the leg reached about Patrick's hip level before he got his hand down there. The great thing about putting his hand down there was that it would stop the kick at a point where it didn't have the leverage of strength to fight back. The kid was strong, yea, but strength and speed could be easily nullified if you were smart. The kick would come up more, but not much further then Patrick's ribs, and it would never reach a target. Patrick's hand might not have been able to stop that if the kid had both feet planted, but as the kid had to have realized, with any high reward attack, there was a high risk, and well here was the risk. Patrick now had his right hand up because of his impromptu block/slow down, and the kid had no base to stand on, meaning Patrick was about to slam the shit out of him. Patrick's hand would run up the kid's leg to his stomach as he fell forward, lifting the kid's right leg up further with his left hand as his right forearm would end up on the kid's stomach at the end of his right hand's movement. That meant when he slammed the kid his right forearm would be falling on the kid with all his weight, hopefully forcing all the air out of his lungs. And like before, perhaps even more so now, the kid would have to roll unto the ground as he stuck, so perhaps his head would bounce of the gym floor as he hit. Perhaps this would stun him, perhaps it would not, but as before Patrick would move on as originally planned... And fall Shane would! But as he fell however, instinct would take over and his hands would automatically shoot out and grasp for the closest thing to latch onto, which happened to be Patrick's arm. As he did so however, his body would inadvertently lean back to the left slightly and his head would tuck itself into his neck very slightly as he gripped Patrick's arm like his life depended on it.
While it did prevent Shane from landing fully flat on his back and having all the wind knocked out of him, it also prevented his head from bouncing off the floor and stunning him. As such, while Patrick would be able to sit on Shane, Shane would not be lying flat on his back, but on his side, his right hip digging into Patrick. Letting go of Patrick's right arm, Shane would not be able to block the left punch, all he could manage to do was time the turn of his head with the punch, which hit him solidly across the chin, sending his head backwards and the side of his head hitting the floor.
He had felt worse, but it had stunned him briefly, long enough that Patrick was able to swing his elbow out, but it would not hit its intended target, instead, it would slash across Shane's cheek. It wouldn't slice his cheek open, but it was going to leave a mark. The side of his head hitting the floor once more, that was twice in a row, and enough to cause Shane to begin to black out. He'd raise his arm up, only for it to fall back to the ground, Patrick would feel Shane begin to go limp underneath him. Just like that, Shane was done man, done.

Patrick's takedown worked, and he landed two big hits. The fight was definitely swinging strongly in his favor at this point. Patrick could feel that the kid was out on his feet, figuratively of course, but that wasn't a good thing. Not for Patrick at least. He had planned on walking away once he had gotten to this point, provided the fight had been fairly one sided and rather long. Basically to show that he was not someone that any regular joe wanted to mess with. This however would not due. If he got up now he would exactly get the type of image that he wanted if it seemed like the kid in front of him was a chump. No offense to the kid, he had skill but that's not what it would look like to the average brute. Unfortunately for the kid that meant he had to take more punishment.
After his right elbow hit that meant that Patrick's left shoulder would be slightly behind his right, meaning that it was in good position for a left elbow to be thrown in the same manner that the right had to the kid's right eye. He wanted to put this kid down and put him down hard, trying to readjust his plans for people leaving him the fuck alone. After the elbow hit Patrick would posture up again slamming him with a right fist to the face and then following up with a left. He saw no reason to better his position just yet because well the kid was on the ropes, but that wasn't him decided to completely stop caring about defense because who knew? This kid might have some hidden reserve of strength...

For the most part Kevala had sat back and not said a word. She had to admit the boys did an impressive little showing, though it seemed almost evident from the get go who was going to come out on top. Not that she was trying to pass judgement, hence why she had stayed silent and stayed out of it. Often she was wrong, and she didn't want to make an open prediction about what was to happen lest she get it wrong.
Yet, as things continued to play out, she would take note of the way that both boys held themselves and how each of them chose to attack, Pat much more the aggressive one in this little bout, that much was obvious. Finally, once the other boy had all but passed out, Kevala would rise from her position in the bleachers, easily making her way down to the little mess that was the two of them, a glance given toward the boy who was unconscious or at least almost there. "Get him to the medical ward." Speaking over her shoulder toward one of the students that had been watching the fight take place. All she really had to say about that, no real concern evident in her tone, because quite honestly, she wasn't. He wanted to fight for it, he got his ass handed to him, so be it.
Turning back toward Patrick she would extend her hand which held onto that tie, the symbol of the School Captain. "Congratulations..." A brow quirked, waiting to see if he would take it or not.

Patrick's three new shots would land, signalling the end of the fight as the kid passed fully into unconsciousness. The irishman didn't bother throwing a fourth blow because it was decided. He stood up reluctantly with a frown. That fight wasn't nearly the one he planned on throwing. Throwing it now would be meaningless. Hell not even accepting the title would not receive desired outcome. With as much striking skill as his opponent held, it looked like a beatdown. Well, maybe it had been but all the same, it was disappointing. A clear victory came when Patrick was on the ground, but he hadn't had the greatest positioning either.
Patrick stood up stepping away from the kid. When Mrs Badoer came over to him extending the tie or whatever towards him Patrick ultimately frowned. He didn't give a shit about the title. At the same time though, the kid wasn't necessarily the best in the school. If he were then Patrick would have said no, having proved his point that he could do what he wanted. Not that he intended to cause trouble, just drink and smoke where he pleased. But he figured the title would scare people away for the most part.
After a long pause, he'd reply and take the tie, slight frown remaining, "Thanks."
He would stuff the knot into his right pocket, using the thing like a lanyard. Eventually his keys would probably be attached but that was something for another time...

Thread is complete. School Captain title goes to Patrick O'Connor. The two week grace period begins officially 5/11/2012 and will end 5/25/2012. Until that time, he cannot be challenged for his title. Once that period is over, PM the Admin in order to issue a challenge. This thread is now locked.
