You know how new kids on the block are always perceived to be the weakest among the bunch? The inexperienced? The lambs among the wolves? The fresh meat? Well, such a thing was common in schools like this. It was so prominent that it had become a tradition of sorts. A newcomer's welcoming initiation into the school, for you were never a student of Public High Schools until you were welcomed with a fist and not a handshake. It was a dog-eat-dog world, and really, if you failed to establish your territory, you'd simply get eaten up alive by those who had. This was Public High School #8011, and from what Cain had heard, it was no different from the past many schools he had visited before.
The young male had arrived in school on time due his first day, clad in a rather casual manner. He wore a simple white shirt, plain and clean, with a grey hoodie jacket over it, the said article unzipped and the hood let down. A pair of dark blue denim jeans hugged his legs, held in place by a leather belt around his waist. The bottom ends of the jeans were folded up, resting just above the mouth of his black low-cut DC shoes. The strap of his black-grey backpack wrapped itself around his right shoulder, hanging simply on it.
His brown hair was gelled up, leaning back slightly, as always. His facial hair had been maintained, of course, leaving but a mild shadow that ran from sideburn to sideburn, curving around his face via his chin, while a bit branched out to swerve around his lips. His hazel brown eyes rested itself upon the school structure, a soft scoff escaping his lips as he smiled. It had been a while since he had gone to school, his last venture being in California's 259. A far place from here, and he would have not have it any other way than that. He took one last deep breathe, wondering how long it would take before his own welcoming committee would make its presence known.
And with that, he took his first step through the school gates, into the front yard, joining the many other students of the school. Now, just what did this school have in store for him this time, hmm?

Azura was running late.
Not something that usually happened with her, but something that had been pretty much unavoidable this morning. Of course she had not meant it, seeing as how she was pretty much the princess of punctuality when it came to things like school, missions and any other type of event in which her presence was required, but sometimes things happened that just could not be avoided. This, being one of them.
She had been on her way out of The Facility this morning, prepared for another long, boring day of dull, hum drum classes in which she tried her very best to blend in and be just another one of the regular students that went to Public High School 8011. (Not that it was easy mind you, being one of the only girls that had such bright, fiery red hair.) Yet just as she was about to step out of her room and headed toward the main exit, she was stopped by one of the doctors as he made his rounds.
He had needed a blood sample from her, and though she had tried to get him to wait til after she had gone to school, he had insisted upon it, threatening her with a "harsh punishment" if she did not settle down and do as she was told. Of course, during the routine blood test he had managed to get blood on the dress she was wearing, which in turn forced her to go back to her room and change. More than enough of a hassle to put her in a slightly off mood as she rushed down the sidewalk and toward the front entrance to the school.
Her small hands moved swiftly over the skirt of her strapless white dress, trying to smooth it out so that it extended to its full length, which was down to just above her knees. She loved her dresses, all of them white in color, save for a select few, and all of them fit perfectly for her body and her body alone, she just wasn't too fond of them when they rode up and gave off a bit more of her thighs than she cared to share with the general public. A thing which tended to happen anytime she moved too swiftly or a strong breeze caught her off guard.
Her eyes down, gauging the cover of her dress, her fiery red locks cascaded down about her face and shoulders, creating a veil of sorts between her and the rest of the world. White shoes softly tapping against the sidewalk and her backpack slung over one shoulder, she looked every bit the part of the average student.
As she hurried along, she would glance up to catch sight of the main gate, letting out a frustrated breath as she moved to turn the corner, once more casting her eyes downward to look at what her hands were doing, only to be completely thrown off guard as a pair of shoes came into her line of vision. Instantly she would let out a little yelp of surprise and jerk to the right, trying to avoid one of those all too awkward run ins that people were so fond of in this place...managing to do so, if just barely...only to trip over her own two feet and fall backwards onto her butt with a slight "oomph" rushing past her lips. "I am so sorry! I was not looking and I..." Her tone soft and gentle even if it was slightly panicked...words trailing off as she nervously dared to look upward.
What had been fairly neat red hair now fell in a slightly tangled mess about her angelic face, a pair of soft, almost innocent looking hazel eyes peering through the disheveled locks to see just who it was she had narrowly avoided running into, only to settle upon a face she had never seen before. Though for the time being, she didn't have time to think on the fact that there was a new student, not when a sudden breeze wafted past her and was felt on a part of her thigh it shouldn't have been, signaling to her that her skirt had ridden up and was, at the moment, barely covering her more private garments that she wore beneath her dress.
A slight gasp escaping as her head ducked down and she quickly moved tug at her skirt, cheeks flushing a bright pink shade as embarrassment quickly took the place of any annoyance she might have felt just moments before.

Well, either a punch, or the good ol' bump-a-roo.
At the corner of his peripherals, he caught sight of an incoming figure, and immediately, he placed his weight on his leading foot, stopping his forward pace effectively. His eyes would slightly widen, as he turned his head by the neck to gaze upon the sudden appearance, only to see that she had fallen onto the ground in her attempt to avoid him. Crimson hair would flail into the wind, and she fell right in front of him, in a rather suggestive manner. He blinked, the male bravado within him prompting his eyes to, well, allow himself a peek at her undergarments. He coughed awkwardly, forcing his eyes upwards onto her own.
"I am so sorry! I was not looking and I..."
It was then that he allowed himself to glance up into the air above her, his right index finger coming up to point at the general direction of her body. And then, with a soft voice, he proceeded to speak. "You're, uhm... Panties is showing." And as if on cue, she would notice it as well, gasping as she proceeded to drag the skirt of her dress back down to cover herself. Cain's right hand would then clench, bringing itself up to his mouth as he let out another cough, his hazel eyes rolling down once again to meet hers.
She was quite a beauty, he had to admit.
He smiled softly, an amused chuckle escaping his lips. Well, this was not the first experience he had expected to encounter when he arrived at the school, no. He reached down with the same right hand, then, extending a helping hand out to here. Allowing his smile to shift into a warm hospitable one, he voiced out once again. "Are you alright? Here, let me help you up." And if the offer was accepted, he would, of course, gently pull her back up onto her feet, being careful with the gesture. It was probably awkward enough for her, having shown her panties to a complete stranger.

Yup, she was thoroughly embarrassed now. Not only had she fallen right upon entering the school, but she had also managed to show off her pretty white lace panties to some complete stranger. A good looking stranger at that. A soft groan issued inwardly as her cheeks grew even hotter upon hearing mention of his words and seeing the way that he purposefully directed his eyes above her, that motion of his hand making it all too clear he had caught a glimpse of her unmentionables and making her wish, now more than ever, that she could just bury herself in a hole right then and now.
Trying hard not to just run from the sheer panic she felt, she would continue to profusely tug upon the hems of her skirt until the moment that he offered to help her up, noting that hand which was now extended in her direction. Shame and utter humiliation made her hesitate accepting his gesture, yet knowing that it was probably the most appropriate thing to do in the moment, she would reluctantly place her small, trembling hand within his own.
Scared? No, not at all. But a girl could only take so much embarrassment before she had a physical reaction to it. Which was the case right now. However, she would try her best to avoid seeming too pathetic, allowing him to pull her up while keeping a free hand on her dress to ensure that little accident did not happen again.
Though, once she was upright, she would quickly withdraw her hand to try and tuck back her unruly locks behind her ear, sheepishly looking up at him through thick lashes as her chin stayed tipped downward. Her blush still too dark to look him full on in the face...worried he would be looking at her like she was some kind of freak, or even worse...some kind of....slut. The mere thought making her cringe as she nervously nibbled upon her perfectly pink, glossy lower lip.
"I...um..I am sorry about...well I wasn't ....I mean, I didn't mean to..." She coughed slightly, fingers fidgeting and twisting about the hem of her dress as she struggled to find the right words. Eventually giving up and simply extending her little hand once more in his direction. "Hello." Her tone coming out a bit squeaky, as though the words had gotten strangled in her throat somehow. Quickly, she cleared her throat to try and correct this before once more attempting that thing called talking. "M..My name is Azura. Y..You must be new here."
Yeah, that worked. She hoped. Oh God just let her die now.

His fingers would gently wrap around her fingers as she accepted his offer, the 17-year-old proceeding to pull the girl up onto her feet. And as soon as he was sure that she was well-secured upon the ground, he would let go of her small soft hand, relieving her of that awkwardness. Of course he felt amused at the chain of events that led to this situation, but his perspective of her would be far from negative, of course. A slut? Nah. A slut wouldn't blush so deeply when her undergarments were revealed to a stranger. Nor would they dress as modestly as she had. It was a mere accident, and that was all it was to Cain. What he did think of her, though, was how adorable she had reacted to the given situation.
"I...um..I am sorry about...well I wasn't ....I mean, I didn't mean to..."
Cain chuckled, shaking his head as he raised his left hand, waving at her dismissively. "It's fine. We all have our bad days, hmm?" He replied, trying to reassure her. True, the shyness that she was displaying was adorable to an extent, but Cain really had no desire to make her feel uncomfortable. His purposes here in this school was to just finish his years, and leave the past to continue a life on his own. And what better way to smoothen the process by making a friend or two, right? Besides, no harm ever came from making a friend with such a red-haired beauty.
Boy, was he wrong.
Seemingly recovering for a brief moment, she extended her hand out to him, an evident gesture for a handshake. Cain gave it a brief glance, before placing his hazel eyes once again on her own orbs. He reached forward, his hand once again enveloping her own as he gave it a soft yet firm shake. "Hello. M..My name is Azura. Y..You must be new here."
Cain chuckled. "That obvious, huh?" He allowed his hand to slide off her own, returning it to his side. "I'm Cain. Pleasure to meet you, Azura. Beautiful name you have there." And for extra measure, he allowed his smile to slightly widen, as he tilted his head.

"Its nothing too obvious really. I am just usually pretty good with faces and I know I would remember somebody as hand--" Her hazel eyes would widen a bit in shock at the words that had been about to leave her mouth. Teeth firmly clamping down on the inside of her cheek to cease them before they got away from her, not wishing to embarrass herself anymore than she already had, or make herself look more the fool than she presently did.
"I mean..I just h..haven't seen you around before is all." She cleared her throat a bit and gave a slight nod, finally finding that single shred of pride she held within her, that determination she put into almost every single thing she did, and using it to grab hold of and lift her head upright. Those bright, warm and almost innocent eyes looking into his own more fully now. No longer hanging her head and hiding behind her hair, instead giving him a more unobstructed view of her face.
Then the topic shifted to the matter of names, and if she thought she was on her way to a swift recovery, she was dead wrong. No sooner had the introductions been made than she found herself once more struggling to keep from blushing too deeply, and failing miserably. Taken a bit off guard by the compliment upon her name, and even more so by the smile he presented.
What the heck was it with the boys of this school!? Almost every single one she met was handsome and charming in some way. More than enough for a girl like her to go tripping all over herself and blushing like some silly little school girl. It was, for her, almost unheard of. She had been to several high schools over the years, one mission after the other, and in all that time, she had never come across a group of boys like this. More and more she was becoming aware of her own awkwardness and clumsiness when it came to social situations, things she had never paid much mind to until now. But then, she had never really cared what people thought of her up until now. Never worried about how the boys in the school she was at looked at her.
Now though, well now she was constantly reminded of the fact that she had zero skills in the "romance" department. Heck, she didn't even have skill in the friend making department. This fact only compounded by the fact that she had no clue how to hold herself around a charming and absolutely gorgeous boy. Regardless how old she might have actually been, something she was still not entirely sure of, she was still very much the sixteen year old teenage girl she pretended to be...perhaps younger in some ways honestly.
"S..So, where are you from?" That was a good question for this type of situation right? Her mind furiously working to pull to mind all the books she had read over the years, all the online articles she had read about high school interactions, every bit of data she had collected over the years....Yet the harder she tried, the bigger the blank grew within her mind, making her fingers twist about the hem of her skirt more furiously. "Sorry...I..I am not very good at this..." Her free hand motioning back and forth between the two of them, signalling, hopefully, that she was referring to the whole "getting to know you" portion of talking to somebody.

"Its nothing too obvious really. I am just usually pretty good with faces and I know I would remember somebody as hand--"
--some as you.
Cain allowed himself to complete the sentence, though it was far from deliberate. It was simply part of his analytical mind to pretty much read into stuff, and that included potential follow-ups as well. What else could it have been, after all? Handful? Well, he doubted that such a word could be used in a context like that, but alas, you never know with these things, right? What he had learned from the plentiful of schools he had gone to, was that you could never ever know what to expect from people, no matter how hard you try. Nonetheless, now that he had his thoughts upon it, he did hope it was what he guessed it to be. He gave a soft smile, holding his reactions back in an attempt to, well, not embarrass her further than she already had.
"I mean..I just h..haven't seen you around before is all." Cain scoffed, before releasing a soft smirk. "That's generally the implication of a new face, isn't it?" He chuckled, before glancing over her shoulder towards the school. He wasn't sure about himself, but the fact that she had been moving so carelessly earlier meant that she was probably in a hurry. Had she forgotten about what she was meant to do, or...? He brought his eyes back to her, simply holding a smile, waiting for the conversation to progress into something else. Of course, with the awkward silence between the two, Cain was prompted to add onto the conversation, but alas, before he could even open his mouth to speak, she would handle the matter for him.
"S..So, where are you from?" Well, a random question was better than nothing, right? Within his peripherals, he saw the rather obvious act of playing with her skirt, and he figured her to be the kind to, well, keep to herself. "Sorry...I..I am not very good at this..." Yeah, that pretty much confirmed his judgement. He gave a soft chuckle.
"Maybe this isn't the best place for a conversation, hmm?" He glanced back over his shoulder, though he was gesturing more towards where they stood, right in front of the school entrance, in the middle of the path. He turned back to her. "If you're not too busy, perhaps you could show me a place where we can, you know, sit down and have a chat?" He inquired, and whether she agreed to do as such, Cain would simply follow up with an answer, finally, following her if the task was required of him.
"Well, I was actually born here in New York, but I've been spending the majority of the last year moving. Las Vegas, Detroit, California, and now, I'm back here."

She really, really wished there was a hole she could crawl into right now. Not because of him personally, but just because she hated the fact that she was such a bumbling idiot when it came to cute boys. She shouldn't even be worried about this sort of thing right? Right! She was with somebody, sort of...or at least, that was what she told herself. Truth of the matter being so much more complicated than that, and with all her memories fully in tact, she was far more capable than Legion of separating herself from their "bond" whenever she was not around him.
Her mind becoming a bit distracted by this thought, only to be snapped back to attention at the mention of finding someplace a bit more private to sit and chat. Her eyes widening just a bit, looking at him as if he were speaking a foreign language or something. Shock being the best way to describe it really.
Really?
He wanted to sit down and talk to her?
Alone!?
Sure, Cael sat and talked to her alone, but that had always been either by chance, or because they got shoved together and forced to interact. In fact, if they hadn't been forced to spend time together on that camping trip a few weeks ago, she questioned if he would even have noticed she existed.
But this guy...This one was asking to sit down and talk with her alone. The whole concept of it so new to her, she found herself opening her mouth to speak and yet managing absolutely nothing other than a slight nod as she would start to move toward the school...Tripping over her own two feet once more, and stumbling a bit. Though this was probably a good thing, seeing as how it snapped her out of her daze and brought her back to the here and now, her jaw clamping shut almost instantly before she would try and speak once more. "Y..Yeah. I know a place we can talk. I was just hurrying to get here really...I don't like to be late and I am usually here about half an hour earlier than I arrived. So I thought if I hurried, then I wouldn't feel like such a slacker."
She blushed a bit more and bit her lower lip, her hand gripping the strap to her backpack as she shyly turned her head away...managing a slight chuckle in the process. Great, now she was rambling. This was just freaking perfect. One minute she can't talk, the next she can't shut up. What was next, singing in the rain or dancing a jig in the middle of the courtyard? Yeah...she would rather die first.
Clearing her throat, she would finally manage to turn back to him, stopping as they got near the front of the school and then nodding off to the right. "Come on, there really isn't a place in the main building that isn't riddled with students striving to be alone." That bit coming out a bit normal, her tone soft and warm, almost inviting...if such a thing was possible.
If he chose to continue following her, she would lead the way to the infirmary building. The place was so big, the Superintendent had decided to make it its own building, and though it stood there, n plain sight, most students never thought about it as a place to escape to. "I moved around a lot before coming here myself. Though, mostly to the Northern states. Wisconsin, North Dakota, and what not." She nodded, leading the way around to the side of the building where a single fire escape type ladder resided for maintenance to use in case they needed to reach the air vents atop the building.
"Um...you first." Motioning toward the ladder and glancing at him nervously. Like heck she was going to go first and give him another peek at her panties. Not happening. No way, no how.

Wasn't her mind just a lil pesky runner? Had Cain been able to read her mind, he would have been unable to contain a fit of laughter. True, he had offered to sit and talk, but really, he had no preference as to where. Whether it was somewhere as crowded as the cafeteria, or as empty as, most of the time, that is, the rooftop, he was bothered naught. His eyebrows would climb his forehead as he saw her open her mouth, but no words were released from her throat. Eh?
She would suddenly just turn around, tripping on herself. And simply out of reflex, his right hand would come up, hovering just outside her right bicep, ready to establish a grip if it were necessary. However, it seemed that she would succeed in regaining her composure and footing. "Y..Yeah. I know a place we can talk. I was just hurrying to get here really...I don't like to be late and I am usually here about half an hour earlier than I arrived. So I thought if I hurried, then I wouldn't feel like such a slacker."
So, that was it, huh? A bookworm. Yeah, there were some of those in these schools, sometimes. A great change to have in these tough hallways. You know, the innocent naive ones that looked only to live through high school, not take over it in a race for power, fame and glory. Even Cain was tired of such races himself. At that moment, he only looked to enjoy himself. He may just be 17, but he had had way too many experiences under the corporal punishment system.
He followed behind her, releasing a scoff at her explanation. "I see." A simple acknowledgement, though his tone was far from hostile, of course. In fact, he sounded rather impressed. "Come on, there really isn't a place in the main building that isn't riddled with students striving to be alone." Understandable. Cain nodded his head as his lone reaction, his head turning to face to his right and peer down the path as well. Was it really safe for him to be following this stranger of a female on his first day of school? Of course not.
But hell, how much could it hurt, right?
Right?
And they came upon the adjacent structure, with the large words 'INFIRMARY' hung above the door. He blinked as he stared at it. Well... Wasn't that quite clever. Who would actually come here to hang out, after all? Though this place never failed to see its fair share of customers, no one really enjoyed staying here for too long. "I moved around a lot before coming here myself. Though, mostly to the Northern states. Wisconsin, North Dakota, and what not."
"Oh? Heh. Not an easy life, is it? Always being the new kid."
However, it was not the building itself that they entered. Instead, they circled around it to the side, coming upon the fire escape. He stopped in his tracks, shortly before she had. His eyes would descend upon her, as she gestured for him to lead the way. He raised an eyebrow, before releasing a shrug. Ah, hell. He did ask for this, after all. He moved over to the ladder, then, grabbing the step directly in front of his face. His other hand would snap upwards, two steps up, as he leaped off the ground. His shoes would promptly place themselves on the lower steps, and from there, he would begin to climb back up, taking a glance down halfway to actually make sure that she was following, and that she was doing well to keep up.
It wasn't long after did he reach the top, and he climbed over the ledge, his feet finally coming upon the roof. He dusted his hands together, before glancing around. And as soon as Azura reached the top, he would turn around, extending another helping hand.
"Nice choice."

She nodded in agreement with his statement about always being the new kid, though she couldn't help but think to herself that he had no real idea how hard it truly was for her. She never changed, never aged, never looked any different, so for as long as she was part of The Facility, they could keep recycling her into being a sixteen or seventeen year old girl in some new school, somewhere in the U.S or any other country for that matter.
At least he would get the chance to grow up and move beyond being this, whereas she would forever be stuck within this nightmarish existence unless she did something drastic to change it all. Which was exactly what her goal was at the moment. Though, of course, she kept all this to herself. Simply following up his question with a quick, simply reply. "Yeah, it is hard. I don't really fit in with any one group. I mean, I am not really into the whole learning thing, well at least not to an excessive degree, and I am really not that popular like a lot of the prettier girls in the school."
She gave a soft laugh, biting her lower lip and timidly casting a glance upward toward him, blushing a bit more. "I mean..I am a cheerleader and I don't even really fit in there either." Yes, the fact that she was one of the cheerleaders was a bit embarrassing to her, mostly because of how short the skirts were and how often boys got a chance to sneak a peak at her underwear. They could call them bloomers all they wanted, the darn things were panties, pure and simple.
Watching as he ascended the ladder, she would slip her backpack onto both shoulders, and begin to climb up behind him, not really noticing that she was looking up and checking out his ass until the moment he turned back to make sure she was following. Of course, the instant he did, she would practically jump out of her skin, having been caught doing such a thing, and almost end up falling off the ladder, her foot slipping and her small hands being forced to grip hold rather tightly just to ensure she didn't fall flat on her ass once more.
Finally, he would climb over the ledge and to the top, allowing her a moment of peace to recompose herself before she too would come to the top of the ladder, her hazel eyes fixed upon him, glancing down at his hand as he offered her a hand up. For a moment she would hesitate, if only because it took some getting used to still; playing the somewhat helpless, clumsy, weak girl of the class. Though it was easily mistaken for her being shy, considering she was still blushing from having been caught checking him out.
Still, she would suck it up eventually and reach out, placing her small, soft hand within his and gripping it just enough to allow herself to be pulled up and helped over the stone ledge of the rooftop. A soft, genuine smile given in his direction this time as a result, the expression seeming to light up her entire face, including her eyes which now danced with a light shimmer from the light which reflected off of them. "Thank you."
Her hand pulling back, she would move to slip her backpack off and set it aside, her little hands scooping up the back of her dress and pinning it against her legs before she would take a seat upon the ledge, settling in to talk as was the suggested reason for coming here. "Yeah, I usually come here to get away. Sometimes, being in there, can be a bit overwhelming for me. I get really nervous, and upset when the other girls laugh at me and call me names." She nodded, biting the corner of her lower lip and tilting her chin down just slightly, allowing her gaze to drift along the tarred rooftop instead of looking directly upon him.

"Yeah, it is hard. I don't really fit in with any one group. I mean, I am not really into the whole learning thing, well at least not to an excessive degree, and I am really not that popular like a lot of the prettier girls in the school."
What? He raised an eyebrow. She did not fit into the school, cause she wasn't popular and pretty? What kind of nonsense was that? She was beautiful on her own rights, and even Cain could attest that she was attractive. Of course, he would have retorted, but alas, the ladder was not really an ideal place to have a conversation, so he only scoffed, before finally reaching the top. Events would continue to unfold, and when Azure took his offer of help, he would provide her with extra support so as to clear the stone ledge and get onto the roof.
"Thank you."
Cain smiled, tilting his head slightly as he did. And then, with a soft bow of his head, he allowed himself a gesture of simple chivalry. "My pleasure." And with that, he turned his back towards her, as she adjusted herself upon the ledge. The 17-year-old would pace over towards the edge of the roof, gently placing his hand upon the ledge and looking out, onto the front yard of the school. His left hand would come up to grab his bag strap, sliding it off his shoulder and placing it down on the floor, resting against the ledge itself. He would release a soft smile. It actually looked quite serene up here.
But appearances were always deceiving.
He turned back to her, as she spoke up once again, her voice breaking the veil of silence that had briefly overcome them."Yeah, I usually come here to get away. Sometimes, being in there, can be a bit overwhelming for me. I get really nervous, and upset when the other girls laugh at me and call me names."
Cain raised an eyebrow, a soft pout coming to his lips as he walked back to her side, allowing himself to rest his bottom against the corner of the ledge. He crossed his arms over his chest, adopting a casual stance as he stared out into the space before them. "That's nonsense." He started, looking away from her for a brief moment, before immediately bringing his eyes back to her. "No, no. Don't get me wrong. I don't mean you. I meant the others. Maybe the only reason you don't think you're as popular as you are because you're not as ferocious as they are? I mean, this is high school. It's still a jungle, and the ones that dare step on others always come out on top." He uncrossed his arms, before letting out a shrug.
"Forgive me for judging, but I don't see you as the type to do that." And that was an honest perception. From what he had seen thus far, she was a timid and shy girl. Definitely not the kind to beat down another just to emphasise on their superiority. "If anything, the only reason I see for them to be teasing you it's cause they're jealous." He chuckled, placing one hand on the ledge and pushing himself off, taking a step out onto the roof, but still facing her.

She would watch him as he moved, keeping her hands upon the skirt of her dress to ensure that it didn't fly up again due to the increased wind force which drifted over the room. Her mind focused upon him and the way that he spoke, slightly confused by what few facial expressions she saw from him.
Then, as he came near her and leaned into the corner of the ledge, she would tilt her head in confusion as he began to speak, not entirely sure why he would find what she had said to be nonsense, though he was quick to try and explain. His reasoning bringing a light blush to her cheeks once more as she shook her head. "No, I am definitely not the type to do that." Or at least, she wasn't the type to do so intentionally.
She had already seen, time and time again, how easy it would be for her to dominate this school. She wouldn't even really need any of her team to do so. Yet that was not what she wanted. She didn't want to enslave a bunch of teenagers, regardless of how cruel they were to her. But sh also didn't want to lose the only person she had as "family" just because she was worried about the welfare of a bunch of strangers who, most of the time, didn't even bother to get to know her before judging her and deciding to make fun of her.
"I seriously doubt they are jealous. I mean, they have all the boys of the school just dying to be with them. They have groups of friends, and even some of the teachers seem to cut them some slack because they are so ....I don't know..Beautiful? Popular? Charming?" She shrugged, her head lowering a bit as she looked down at the rooftop once more. "I am not really any of those things. I mean sure, I stand out because of my bright red hair, but I am not very charming. If anything I am a massive dork and probably one of the clumsiest people in this school."
Her hand motioning toward the courtyard as that deep, heated blush once more formed upon her cheeks, her hands tugging at the hems of her skirt as though she were reliving that moment she had before when she had first narrowly missed running into him. "In case you haven't noticed by now." A nervous little chuckle given before she would turn her gaze back to meet his own. "But enough about me..What about you? Were you the popular kid in your old school or more the loner type?" Genuine curiosity showing in both her eyes and her tone as she asked this, nibbling her lower lip idly as she waited on a reply.

And she began her reply, and Cain would only exhale sharply, as he turned away from her. Slowly, he would begin to walk around, focusing on his step and taking note of the footprints he left behind, a random act that simply kept his body moving. Cain was never one to stay in one place for too long. He felt uncomfortable if he wasn't moving forward, in every aspect of the term. He would then slowly gaze up at her, as she began to belittle herself, stating her only impressive nature being her bright red hair. He had to admit, it was indeed a plus in her case, but the rest of her words only served to bother Cain. He let out a soft sigh, tilting his head as he pouted, his right hand coming up to scratch his head. She gestured towards the courtyard, and a quick glance towards it was all it took for him to understand what she referred to.
He glanced down at her hands as she tightened her grip on the hem of her skirt, the man letting out a soft chuckle and a shake of his head. And then, he took a few steps forward, closing the distance between them.
He then raised his right hand up, his index finger sticking out as he pointed at the sky, his hand facing her direction. It was a simple gesture, and one that would easily be understood as 'hold on a minute'. Then, with that signature smile of his, he allowed himself to butt in. "Now, now, Azure. Don't cut yourself short. They may be the top dogs of this school, but that doesn't make them any better than you. You're still beautiful, in your own way, right?" He chuckled, before lowering his hand.
"But enough about me..What about you? Were you the popular kid in your old school or more the loner type?"
His smile would fade away slightly, as he lowered his gaze. His old schools. 552. 42. 774. 259. He had been to so many schools, and each one had revealed a different part about him. Each one had different demands and expectations, and more importantly, experiences for the young man. Twice, he had become the School Captain, only to drop the title for personal reasons. Every single one had memories, both good and bad. And each one had thrown a different person in his life, only to pull them away. He took a discreet deep breathe, before raising his gaze finally, looking at her. He gave a soft shrug, and a smirk.
"I was myself. Best way I can put it, I guess."

Azura would open her mouth to speak, only to quickly snap it shut as she watched his hand make that signature "hold up" gesture toward her. She knew when to be quiet, and though she sometimes chose not to listen when somebody told her to do such, today she decided that she would be quiet and listen to what he had to say.
Though as he brought up her being beautiful in her own way, she would not be able to hold her gaze on him. Her eyes lowering once more as she shook her head slightly. "I wouldn't say that really. I mean, I have always been the freak in most schools I go to and even when I am not in school, things don't usually work out for me all that well." A little nod given as her hand finally managed to leave the hem of her skirt, reaching up and sweeping her hair back, revealing that silver collar which was locked securely about her neck.
It was not an intentional gesture, but one that she did just the same. Her mind a million miles away from thoughts of trying to continue hiding that little piece of jewelry that she been recently forced to wear. "I don't know. I guess I just always wondered what it would be like to have friends and be the girl that boys liked and chased after. Not the girl that they laugh at behind my back and spread vicious rumors about. Its not even really anything to do with my looks. In fact, the only reason they make fun of me so much is because of the simple fact that I cannot fight as well as other students do here."
She sighed, once more rolling her shoulders into a little shrug as her hands folded together upon her lap, Small digits fidgeting together softly as her eyes watched over them slightly. However, her focus remained on him, especially when he went about answering her question getting a look from her that was almost one of envy, "I think that is a pretty awesome thing to be personally. Bet it has been an adventure." Being herself. The one thing she couldn't do in any of her schools, but the one thing she wished she could be...or at least try to be. Regardless how nervous and scared she was.

A side glance was all it took for him to spot the silver collar, and discreetly, he gave it a questionable look. What was that? Just as her eyes would revert back to him, he glanced away. So, she was just unlucky, huh? He could relate. Every time he was placed in a new school, the man always had to struggle to be seen, to actually have people he could trust. More often than not, some of those very same people had turned their knives around against him too. He shrugged. Some people had all the luck. Others had to fight for what they wanted.
Cain sighed, before he turned to face her, crossing his arms, the man standing about three steps away. He was somewhat annoyed at that mindset. The cheerleader mindset, as he liked to call it. When some people had all the fame and recognition, while others were forced to sit at the bleachers, only hoping to be like them. It was a mindset that plagued the minds of high schoolers, and he had to admit, he had carried the very same mindset some time before. Realising that popularity was not as great a prize as he thought it would be, though, the boy abandoned that mentality.
But alas, what he had said earlier had indeed been correct. The only reason she was at the bottom of the food chain, as she explained herself to be, was because she chose not to claw her way up, neither did she have sharp enough of claws to do so.
"I think that is a pretty awesome thing to be personally. Bet it has been an adventure."
Cain chuckled. An adventure. That would be an understatement. He would then raise his right hand again, waving it at her dismissively, before he took a step closer to her. And then, with a mock frown, he would give her a soft glare. "Enough about me for now. Obviously, we have a situation regarding you. You say you're having a hard time making friends, hmm?" At that, he straightened himself, and he swung his arm at her, asking for a handshake once again, a smile replacing the frown on his face. "I'll be one of the few, then. It'll be a prestigious title to have, I think." He chuckled.
Did he actually care that she was unable to defend herself? No. If need be, he could easily do that for her. Of course... He was unaware that she was just as capable of protecting herself as she was of protecting him.
