"Well, I am sure it will work out for you one day. Just have to find a stubborn girl that wont let anything get in the way."
If only it were that easy.
Cain allowed the thought to scream across his head, as a soft smirk came upon his face. No matter how many times he thought upon it, it always amused him. He was confident in his capabilities, to say the least. He knew he could fight decently, maybe even enough to prove himself to be another pivotal chess piece in the inevitable power race in this school. He also was intelligent enough to breeze through his studies no problem. Chrynos had ensured of that. Socialising was a given for him as well, as proven by how easy it had been for him to get into that closed heart of Azure's, allowing a friendship to form between them. However, when it came to romance, Cain was simply hopeless. He simply never knew what to do, and when to do it.
No matter how hard he tried, his other priorities always seemed to taint his relationships, irregardless of how hard he tries to fight against it. As a simple jest, Cain may even consider himself cursed in the art of love.
"One can only hope, right?" He chuckled.
"Nope, doesn't sound boring to me at all. I love doing that most of the time actually." She proceeded to sit upon the ledge before him, then, Cain turning his hazel eyes so as to lock with hers, giving her the attention and respect due. "Sometimes just being lazy is the only real thing to do that worth doing I think."
Cain released a loud laugh, as he swung his right hand up. Clenching his hand save his index finger, he started to wave his index finger at her direction, as he nodded his head rather cheerfully. "Hahaha, I know right?" His shoulders would jerk up and down with every laughter. He glanced to the side, then, calming himself down as he lowered his right hand. And then, he released a sigh, a calm expression coming upon his face.
"I have to admit, I didn't expect to be this fortunate on my first day of school, much less the first hour. I expected to be welcomed as the new fish of the school, but alas..." He turned to look at her. "I made a friend instead."

Azura stood upon the ledge, her feet easily enough stepping one in front of the other as she began to walk along it. For somebody that was rather clumsy, at least when she was nervous, she did have a lot of grace and skill within her movements. Though, that was only when she was putting effort into thinking about them. Other than that, she was always tripping over her own two feet.
Regardless, she would turn back to look at him when he spoke, a little smile curling upon her lips as her hazel eyes ran along his figure for a moment before nodding. "Yes, as did I. It is nice to make friends. It does not happen often." At least not for her, and even though she told herself that right now she had, that doubt about anyone ever really wanting to be her friend crept into the back of her mind.
She couldn't help it really....It wasn't anything personal against him, it was just that she was sure, if he knew the truth about her, he would treat her badly just as Cael seemed to be doing. Yet, the naive, innocent part of her, that she would likely never lose, would allow her to continue pretending that his offer of friendship meant something.......at least for now. "So...shouldn't you be heading to class or something? I don't want to get you in trouble on your first day or anything."
No, she wasn't trying to cut this short or get rid of him...she just didn't want to ruin his first day of school or whatever. That wouldn't be a very....friendly thing to do. Now would it?

"Yes, as did I. It is nice to make friends. It does not happen often."
Cain released a chuckle, as he dropped his head. Though friends were many and near, there were always a certain number that went beyond that boundary. To the new student, friendship was nothing more than another term of acquiescence. However, there was another type of friendship that Cain always looked for. It was the honest and pure kind, the one made simply out of desire to help one another, not because of circumstances. An enemy of my enemy is my friend? No, those things never lasted. This friendship he was slowly forming with Azure was slowly turning out to become one of such precious friendships.
And it being his first here in this school, that just made it all the more significant to the 17-year-old. "Nope, it doesn't." He replied soon enough, agreeing with her statement. As she stepped onto the ledge, he would find his heart skipping a beat for a brief moment, as he stepped forward, ready to catch her anytime. As she walked along the ledge, Cain would allow himself to pace down alongside her, at ceiling level, ready to snatch her off the ledge at the smallest sign of compromise to her balance.
"So...shouldn't you be heading to class or something? I don't want to get you in trouble on your first day or anything," Cain released a small fit of laughter, before shaking his head, his eyes planting itself upon her feet, though it could have easily been mistaken as her looking down at the empty courtyard.
"I don't mind. Besides, shouldn't you? You were the one rushing to get to class, remember?" He shot back, raising his gaze, his eyes locking upon her, a soft warm smile planted upon his face.

Azura would continue to walk along the ledge, and though she had the ability, when she focused to pay attention and not fall...she noticed quickly how he was walking along side her. Up until now, she had been somewhat of a clutz and well...if she stopped now he might start to think something. True, she had not been acting in the first place, she really could be that clumsy, but now....well now she was paying attention....
Or so she thought...
Her eyes shifting toward him as he began to laugh, she would take another step, misplace her foot, and step off to the inside of the cement ledge...which of course, threw her entire balance off and caused her to fall...Luckily, she fell inward, toward the roof...but it was still going to hurt like a bitch when she did. However, because of his close proximity, she would not collide with the rough, tarred rooftop, but instead would collide with the hard, firm body that was Cain.
A little oomph escaping her as she stumbled to try and catch her feet beneath her, her red locks spilling in a tangled mess about her face and hiding her eyes from sight...which was good, because once again she was blushing up a storm. Though, that didn't stop her from trying to recover, to pretend like that had not just happened, a small giggle given...even if she couldn't hide the nervousness in i...and a shrug rolling through her shoulders.
"I...think I can handle being late for this." Okay, so that had come out wrong. Only proving to make her blush that much worse. "I..I mean, I can handle missing class for spending time with a new friend, of course." She smiled and nodded before finally and hesitantly reaching up to part her hair over one of her eyes and look up at him somewhat innocently and hopefully...hopeful he wouldn't laugh too hard at her stumbling and falling about all over herself and her words.

And her body suddenly gave a jerk. Cain's eyes widened. Had she lost her footing? That wasn't good. Instantly, the man's reflexes kicked in, as he turned to face her, arms reaching forward to try and pull her away from the edge. Alas, it seemed that she was already falling towards him. And so, the end result would bring them into a rather awkward compromise, as Azura fell literally into Cain's arms, the 17-year-old's limbs subconsciously wrapping themselves around her to secure her. His right foot would quickly take a position behind him, catching both of their weights, and soon enough, she was back with her feet on the ground, his arms still around her for support.
As soon as he was sure that she was stable, though, he would pull his hands back, resting his hands simply on her shoulders. Her hair was covering her face, thus allowing the blush to, well, camouflage. Her eyes were averted as well. And Cain frowned slightly, tilting his head as he tried to look her in the eye. Just as he was about to ask if she was alright, she suddenly giggled. And shrugged. What?
"I...think I can handle being late for this."
Cain blinked, before realising that she was getting her shy-girl fit again. He simply chuckled, then, as he pulled his hands off her shoulders, realising that it had stayed there the whole time since he caught her. "Alright." He replied simply.
"I..I mean, I can handle missing class for spending time with a new friend, of course."
She looked up at him, with a smile, that only warmed the boy's heart. He released another chuckle, before placing one hand on his hip, raising an eyebrow. "Well, if you say so. I'm staying if you are." He then allowed himself a look-over of her, scanning her from head to toe, and back.
"Are you alright?"

Well this was just awkward. Her small form now tangled up within his arms, making her blush that much more as she closed her eyes and tried to catch her breath. This was not happening. Nope. She was dreaming or something. Yet when those eyes opened again, she could see clearly through the veil of her hair, and she could very clearly feel that it was not a dream, only proving to make her blush that much more profusely.
Still, she would manage to get her words out and get her feet under her, stepping back away from him as he arms fell from around her, giving her a bit more room to breath as she finally, and with much hesitation, lifted her hand to brush her hair back out of her face. Those bright, somewhat uncertain hazel eyes looking to him as he spoke.
His words however, brought a little smile to her lips, happy that he was choosing to stick around with her instead of rush off to class. This was one of the very few times she had hung out with somebody other than Cael. It was odd really, and she had to admit that she kind of liked it.
Yet then came his question and she would wave her hand somewhat dismissively and try her best to blow off the whole "falling" incident as nothing. Which, aside from the fact that she had fallen directly into him, it wasn't. She would have much rather fallen off onto the ground below than into him like that.....that would have been much less....embarrassing. "Oh I am fine. No worry about me. I am actually pretty sturdy.".......Understatement, but she wasn't about to say that. He could just assume it was from years of practice with the art of falling down.
"You would be surprised how easy it is to get used to falling on your butt all the time." A somewhat nervous little chuckle as she shrugged and tried to run her fingers through her tangled locks, getting them stuck about half way through and having to tug a bit to get them to fall back into their rightful place. Trying to do all that as casually as possible, while the other hand tugged on her skirt to make sure it was down and in its proper place as well. "Though something tells me that you are a little sturdier on your feet than me."

Of course he could see the blushes that was streaking across her face. Especially at this proximity. He would have to be really blind to not notice it. Alas, he would step back and give her a comfortable space, a soft smile plastered upon his face. He gazed upon her, once again allowing himself to awe at her beauty. Of course, he would not have minded taking her out sometime and getting to know her better, or at least, develop a relationship more intimate than just being friends, but alas, that would be rushing it, wouldn't it? Besides, she had already stated her interest upon another individual, namely, Cael. Cain wasn't going to ruin that for her. As a friend, that would be selfish.
And Cain's history argued against his own desires as well. No, this was going to be a relationship between friends, and nothing more. Or at least, that's what he tried to convince himself to believe.
"Oh I am fine. No worry about me. I am actually pretty sturdy."
Cain chuckled, placing one hand on his hip as he leaned on one foot. He gave her a rather coy smirk, leaning his head down slightly. "I bet." He replied, a hint of sarcasm coming upon his words. Twice now, she had proven herself to be rather careless and clumsy, each one elevating in terms of intimacy between the two. The first, she had shown him her underwear, and now, she fell directly into his arms. It was a tempting thought of fate, but Cain simply brushed it off.
"You would be surprised how easy it is to get used to falling on your butt all the time. Though something tells me that you are a little sturdier on your feet than me."
Cain scoffed, before shaking his head. "If you ask me, always getting back up on your feet after falling is a lot more impressive than staying sturdy on your feet." He replied, before tilting his head. His brown eyes soon spotted a stray strand of crimson locks that rolled upon her face, and he took a step forward. Bringing his hand up, he allowed himself to speak once again. "Excuse me. You have, uhm..." He trailed off, as he used his index finger to tuck the stray lock behind her ear, before retracting his hand, a warm smile on his face.
Though he had decided not to interfere in her love life, that didn't mean that he couldn't entertain himself by teasing her a bit here and there.
